I’m sure someone has already said this, but they asked Daemon what to do if they couldn’t find Aemond, and then Daemon stared at them before it cut away… The implication being that he probably told them to find a different son (the big guy also says a few things that imply there was more to the conversation after the camera cut away)
The show should’ve had the balls to have Daemon at least give the order to “settle” for a younger prince if Aemond could not be found. But no, the Blacks have to be ever virtuous, even if they weren’t at all in the book.
Yeah, it's strongly implied the answer Daemon gave (after the ominous smirk) was, "A son for a son." It's the same phrase he used talking to Rhaenys earlier in the episode, and the one guy straight up states, "'A son for a son,' he said."
Believing that Alicent actually wants peace is ridiculous, she is just justifying all the bad actions she encouraged for years, for her own self righteousness, now that the consequences are coming to roost. Alicent and Cole are incapable of taking any responsibility for the part they have played in provoking most, if not all the animosity, within the family. They are both obsessed with Rhaenyra and crucify her for the same thing Alicent and Cole are now doing. The hypocrisy is huge

The last thing cheese said to Daemon was “what do we do if we cant find him” then it cuts. Blood also said “Son for a son, he said” but that was not said in their convo scene so it makes me think Daemon orderd to kill any Son of theres if they could not locate Armond
In the books Blood&Cheese is much different. First off, Aemond is never mentioned to be the target, and Rhaenyra is not the one to incite the mission. Daemon sends Rhaenyra a letter from Harrenhal (in the books he is already there) that says- “An eye for an eye, a son for a son. Lucerys will be avenged”. B&C sneak into the Tower of the Hand, which is not guarded as heavily as Maegor’s Holdfast-where Aemond was-and they head for Alicent’s chambers, who was getting ready for bed (Criston and her are not a thing in the book). Helaena and her three children (Jaehaerys, Jaehaera, and Maelor, who was not present in the show version) were on the way for their nightly visit to Alicent. When they get there, they find Alicent tied to the bed and her bedmaid strangled. Blood bars the door and Cheese takes Maelor and tells Helaena to choose which son of hers will die. Helaena pleads that they kill her instead but they refuse, siting- “An eye for an eye, a son for a son. A wife is not a son.” Cheese tells her that if she does not choose then Blood will grape her daughter and they will kill everyone in the room. Eventually, Helaena chooses Maelor, her younger son. Maybe it was because she thought he would be too young to understand , or perhaps it was because the elder boy, Jaehaerys, was Aegon’s first born and heir. Cheese holds Maelor up and whispers to him- “You hear that, little one, your momma wants you dead”. Then, in one clean motion, Blood strikes of the older boys-Jaehaerys’s-head, and the two take off with it. When the guards finally burst through the door, they find Helaena grasping her son’s headless body to her, mad with grief. So yeah, Blood&Cheese is much more tame in the show.
The rat catcher asks "what if we can't find em" then we are to assume Daemon said something. Then cheese said "we need the head" and "son for a son is what he said" or something like that. So it seems clear this was Daemons plan B. They hurt Rheanyra by murdering her child, so now they get hurt the same. Alicent was the original one to say she wanted an eye for eye.
I'm actually quite glad they're showing more humanity from Aegon. It seems like season 1 tried to make him a bit too unlikeable (his situation with the handmaiden wasn't in the book), so it's good that he seems to have a relationship with his children and wants to help the people
I have watched about 15 reactions so far and only 2 of them included the "What if we cant find Aemond" question and PAN to Daemon's face... that is the most important part of the interaction... but they all include "I know it better than my own cock" like that is what is important here.... There is a reason they keep saying "a son for a son"... Daemon had to tell them that.
I am sorry but Aemond did murder Lucerys. The moment he started to tease Lucerys with a dragon 100 times bigger than Arrax the dragons became agitated which led to Lucerys death. Peace died the moment after Lucerys death. Of all the greens I only like Helaena an her children so far I have nothing against them. I feel so bad for Helaena she lost her baby boy.
19:20. “He did say the eyepatch so I don’t know why they just thought one boy was good enough…” If you rewatch the scene with Daemon and “Cheese”, it cuts off before Daemon undoubtedly mentions that if they can’t find Aemond then taking the head of the future king will suffice. “A son for a son” didn’t have to specifically refer to Aemond. Yeah, as much as we all love Daemon the guy is evil.
Daemon wanted a 'son for a son'. When Cheese mentioned 'what if they cannot find Aemond', it is heavily implied that Daemon gave a secondary plan. It was a reason why Blood was against going after Helaena and not going after the kid.

Now per the "book history" Spoilers but its in the wiki so its not SPOILERS: Haelena commits suicide after her son's death but I don't know when specifically during the war or before other characters deaths it happens. I must be the only one who thinks that Rhaenys’ comment about pitting Aemond if he ran into Rhaenyra as stupid. I know what she means but Daemon was just proposing TWO war veteran dragons in order to take down Vaegar, and she answers that Rhaenyra on Syrax, not a war dragon and much smaller somehow could?! I get that she doesn’t want to give too much importance to what Daemon wants but I feel that isolating Daemon and not at least give him the respect of listening to his proposals, (after all he is the one with experience in battle and war) is a mistake that pushes him to act even more careless.
i dont think she was being serious in that moment. Its like saying to a grown man, "Oh you dont wanna be left alone with that cat, you wont survive 5 minutes." Its obviously not fact and just said to bring amusement.
