When Otto Hightower nopes the hell out, you know you’ve fucked up. This man has spent *decades* grasping his way up, and he chooses to give it up rather than fight for it, rather than convince Aegon to change his mind, rather than use action. When Otto Hightower does that, *everything is fucked.*
The BTS for the episode the twins talked of how they’d been preparing for that fight since season 1. It was all the two of them besides the one part of the fight when one brother gets thrown in a way a stunt man had to do it. Otherwise it was all them and the work they put in. As a book reader, I knew it was coming... but it didn’t make it any easier. . Best and most emotional fight we’ve seen so far (minus the dragon chomp in season 1 finale)
I really liked Otto in this episode, probably for the first time ever. And I'm glad that we were shown his wise side. He was the right Hand of two kings who managed to maintain peace and rule wisely. And this was largely thanks to Otto. But in the end, his time passed, and he took on his soul a sin for which the royal family will pay on both sides. And of course, thank that they FINALLY mentioned Daeron, who should have appeared in season 1, so as not to shock the audience now, but we have what we have... P.s. Aegon played by Tom Glynn-Carney turned out great. There is simply no more controversial character in the series. He literally drives you crazy, goes from hate to love and in circles.

I really liked the Scene with Aemond in the Whorehouse with the same lady who eyeballed him in Season 1 when he and Criston visited looking for Aegon. Her playing with his hair as he reveals his feelings towards the Luke incident in season 1 is a good scene.
She's the one who took his virginity. Before they arrived to the brothel he said to Cole that Aegon take him here "because it's Time to get it wet" and she looks and recognise him saying he is a man now😊
Very telling scene in terms of Aemond returning to the person who sexually abused him as a child (it doesn’t matter how he got there, but more thanks to fucking Aegon). He reverts in her presence. He’s vulnerable with her. It’s a sick double-edged sword. He doesn’t feel safe with his mother, he can’t be soft anywhere else. Sadly, the only place is with this woman. Poor Aemond.

The grain falling in the funeral scene looks like when Dany burned the city and ash fell from the sky. The way Helena looks at the sky makes me think that is the moment she’s seen the end of the Targaryens... and due to her grief she will never tell another of it bc no one hears her.
That’s probably what Larys thought, too. But Aegon is a frat boy: he thinks Criston’s toxic, reckless masculinity is super cool. I’m with Daemon the whole way, Rhaenyra has him sitting around doing nothing while the greens plot their plans. The blacks have far more dragons and they have the strongest houses behind them. The entire plot of Daemon telling them to initially go after Aemond makes Daemon look weak, given the fact that he knows about the tunnels, probably better than anyone living. If he wanted to, he could have done it himself. Aemond is right thinking Daemon is scared of him. And it is not like Daemon has proven to be this masterful fighter. We've seen him cheat to defeat Gwayne, lose to Cole twice, beat the crabfeeder (lol), kill his wife, kill a guard from behind, and kill Vaemond from behind. It's not like he is this ultimate warrior. lol
I mean I think you are misconstrueing his portrayal.. his MO isn't to be a honourable warrior (although he went toe to toe with Cole who is canonically the best warrior in the realm at this point), but to use any means necessary to achieve his goals. Arryk and Erryk's death saddened me. Great performance by the twins. Their characters reminds me of Noah and Basch from FFXII.
