Sean after 330 videos I’ve been looking to upgrade my RODE Smart Lav+ as the windscreen is tearing. This seems like a good pick up. Let me ask you, I also have the RODE VideoMic Me (original non-L). Will the sound from this yield warm narration in your opinion when filming from approximately two feet away or should I look for another lav mic? I don’t use my Video MicMe often as that distance isn’t quite as warm compared to if I spoke directly into the VideoMic Me.

I use my phone for quick vlog-style segments in between my main videos, mostly in a controlled workshop environment where the phone audio is actually pretty good (iPhone 10s) but it’s great that companies like Shure are providing such versatile solutions for phone-based content creators; I’d be all over this if my phone was my main camera 👍

Does anyone know if this would work for recording zoom.us calls/meetings? If I plug into the mic to monitor, would I only hear what's going into the mic, or also the audio from the cellphone (the other people on the zoom call)? Thanks!

Forgot to mention the mount! It has perfect distance for capturing everything around me while vlogging, and can set my phone on a surface without having to worry about balancing my phone up on a rock or something.

I have a question. If you wanted to charge your phone while using this setup, while using let’s say a Lightning to USB adapter… how would you connect that black cable? Since the female Lightning port would be dedicated to charging?

Definitely a great looking kit. I was using the Rode mic me for my iPhone 6, then upgraded to the iPhone X and now it doesn’t mount properly. Are there any little mounts you would reccomend?

I’ve used Shure in the recording studio. The sm57 is pretty much on every recording the last 20 or so years. They know their stuff.
The audio sample in the video did nothing to tarnish their reputation. The stock iPhone mic sounded awful so the Shure is a massive improvement.
I really normally use a DSLR for video but this looks like a great back up solution when I don’t have my full kit with me or if I need to have something with a smaller profile.
I would also point out to people that the manfrotto adapter included in this kit can be used with basically every DSLR/DV steadycam kit on the market. HUGE bonus feature for me.

I have this and want to use it for videos on facebook and/or youtube. I have an s9+ phone., the exact camera buy when i try to use it for social media... all I get is "horrible distorted sound"! Please help. I would really like to use this in reg. and selfie mode for social media uploads! I have gone thru settings - so what am i missing?

Must say, the audio quality is really good. Great product from Shure. And what I liked most about the product is that Shure has collaborated with Manfrotto. Hope more and more companies take a cue from this and bring more value to the end users.

compared to the MV 88 which do you think is better? And can you hold the phone vertically (for IGTV/IG Live) using this mic? From what I see, it seems it can only be used landscape
What mode would be best for electroacustica and voice gigs at my rehearsal room? Will it pick up the ambiental sound or can you modify the angle at wich sound is caught?

Thanks for the review. I was thinking of buying this kit but instead decided to go with the budget version - in my case this meant that I bought the Manfrotto Pixi Plus Tripod and a Manfrotto Universal Smartphone Clamp (Pro Version) separately. I also bought the Røde VideoMicro microphone, which mean that all in all I paid around 100 dollars instead of 250 dollars for a rig that basically does the same thing.

Is there any difference in the quality of sound between the MV88+ and the MV88? It's not clear to me that there are any real advantages except getting a stand etc. and being able to use with an Android. I love the tidy look of the MV88 and packs away into a small secure case. . No cables to worry about. I already have a stand. Thoughts?

Wow this is a great system. I’m very impressed with the build and a fan of Shure. I found myself buying an adapter to get rode video mic to Phone but the system is bulky and not ideal for all cercomstances. The ability to change your range is ideal.
With some users new to the new Movi audio quality was a concern. This may be a solution?

I use my iphone to create large portions of my fishing and hiking videos. Before i got the new gopro i preferred using the iphone’s slow motion and time-lapse features. The downside is that i have dropped a few in deep water over the years 😬. Thanks for the gear review, im gonna take a look at this product

So the problem I've had with the MV88 is that I'm unable to charge my iPhone at the same time I'm using the microphone. So if I'm doing a long live-stream I have problems with my phone dying! I'm wondering if MV88+ solves this? I can't find ANY reviews that talk about this issue. My iPhone is a little older - it's an iPhone 6Plus. But I'd still have the same problem with a newer phone - the battery may last longer, but I don't want to take a chance that the battery will get low and affect my livestream when I'm playing piano. (I won't notice there's an issue until I'm done with the piece I'm playing! I guess I could plug the MV88+ directly into my macbook pro with a USB cable, yes? But then I'd need to buy a camera so my video quality will be good enough. Please help! I love the recording quality of the MV88, but not being able to charge the phone at the same time is a real issue!

Is this mic decent enough to pick up 2 guitars a bass and a drum set semi cleanly ?? Or would it sound too muffled & muddy ?? I’m looking for a cheap option to quickly record my bands jam sessions
It works pretty good with bass, piano and voice. Are you mixing it all through the same deck or separate amps? I think we used bass amp and the rest through a deck going through a PA. Sounded pretty good.
What this of microphone you are using when you take this video, is the a bluetooth ?

I love using my smart phone to create content sometimes I’m just too lazy to charge my DSL our batteries but it’s really good for filming videos the downside is I have trouble lately to download them to my laptop where I edit my videos not sure what’s going on with that anyway great review I definitely will look into this set for sure!!

one question I'm a DJ I use my phone (note20 ultra) to record but some times the mic becomes saturated the bass or highs may sound so distorted, usually this happends when I'm close or infront of the speakers.

Yes I’m using my iPhone to record videos of family and kids activities. I just bought the Shure microphone for my iPhone. There are terms in the app I don’t understand when trying to set it up to record.
I use my iPhone to record live bands. I’m also going to do some interviews soon. So this product looks like a must have.
