I like the way you did this video with two people discussing the product. And I've seen a couple other videos showing how this mic shines when you're in a noisy environment. If you're in a neutral environment (not studio quiet) like someone's apartment or home, is there much difference or is it about the same as the iPhone?

Love this review! We have two MV88 mics and sadly have had major problems with both of them ruining sound randomly, so we are back to using on camera mics for now. We had problem with interference (maybe we forgot airplane mode? I didn't think so) and also wind noise, even with a furry cover, that cut out the sound - even in moderate wind. But I guess I'll give it another try. Regardless, love you both - you have a new fan.
Got one for my birthday and it's a gem.

Hi, and thanks for this vid. For sure this us a awesome mic ! I used with my iPad Air 2. Now I have got an iPad Air 4, equipped with a USB C connector ! Any idea for an adaptor able to connect my new iPad to MV88 mic ? Thanks a lot.

Great demo and helpful comparison! The MV88 seemed quieter, compared to the internal mics of the iPhone. I would have liked to have heard the comparison in the quiet environment as well. Seemed there was some type of compression happening on the loud street.

So this would be less useful for live steam vs edited video due to the airplane mode complications. Was this resolved with the 12 Pro Max?
...hello: is it possible to connect the MV88 when there is iPhone case (the rhinoshield) connected? Without to have putting the case away everytime when using the mic?...please for a response if someone did that check...thank you...
Hello quick technical question about the Shure MV88 Mic. Will it take over from the internal iPad mic without needing to run the shure app to do so?
So say for example I want to run the mic directly into an app like "koala sampler" or "beatmaker pro" to capture my guitar, percussion etc as direct samples will this work?
looking to buy one i see it for 149 on amazon. im usung a osmo 3 gimbal so was wondering if it will block.

Hey Guys - I am mainly doing interviews as well as recording lectures and for discreet recording in meeting rooms. Will this work for this kind of environment as well as a Sony or Olympus stand alone digital audio recorder will? Want it to pick up all the different voices at all ends of the conference room table. Today if I use the internal IPhone microphone it really only picks up voices close to the microphone
I plugged it in, downloaded app but its not working. How do you get it to work?
So I bought this mic, and I want to be able to use my Lightning to USB adapter so I can charge my phone while recording video.
The build of this mic doesn’t allow for that. Is there a cable that happens to be Female Lightning to USB? Obviously would have to transfer audio.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I’m sure others with the same question would benefit as well
Hello guys, I got the SHURE MV88/A and when I use in MOTIV APP. The audio is perfect. But the video doesn’t have the wide angle option like the default iOS camera app?? I’m using iPhone 12 and all software updated till date. As well the app is updated. Pls help ? I need the wide angle.

I really enjoyed singing from Ez Voice because I love singing with headset with microphone and write the lyrics from my tablet.
If you want to use the mv88 with a case on your phone you’ll need a lightning extension adapter.
Can use with Clubhouse app ?
Does it have a headphone Jack?
Is there a hiss if you don’t put it on airplane
do you have to be right up on the mic in order to get the best audio or could you be a foot away and get the same results
If you are in a good sound enviroment (inside or in studio etc) it wont matter much. The biggest difference is when you are in a noisy environment.

The iPhone 13 has an even better microphone quality and now you can set it to record mono instead of stereo. But I see how this mic would come in handy
Clearly the Shure Mic blocked out the background ambient noise, but it also cut some of the low-end out of his voice, which would be bad for music.
There is two major flaws that is a dealbreaker for me. First being that the microphone only rotates in one direction. That means you get left/right stereo only when shooting in vertical, but turning it horizontally to shoot normal 16:9 your stereo field change to up and down, not left/right.
Second, you cant use the microphone settings while using it in the default iphone video app. The iphone 12 pro 10 bit Dolby Vision HDR video codec looks way better then Shure´s video app.
Both issues are a dealbreaker for me.

Would this mic be good for filming car drive by’s/ exhaust sounds?
I’ve seen ppl tape a lavalier mic near the exhaust or engine to a recorder for some nice sound capture

Can the mic do live streaming like Facebook live, instagram?
I forget the term, but it’ll pick up that static and frequency interference when your phone is receiving a message or an email. That will mess with the sound

I think micro’s iphone 11 pro was good. And don’t need Mv88
The iPhone mic IS good. That’s what I’ve always said too. But I wanted better sound at a distance greater than 2 feet. So I bought an MV88 (and also a purple panda lapel mic). I’m very happy I did because both ARE better. And the MV88 can record in several modes including stereo. If you want to record a conversation with two people seated opposite of each other, the MV88 in stereo mode picks up both people far better than the iPhone. You need the app to switch modes.
My complaint is the mic jack is so short it won’t fit with a normal case. I happen to have a 3ft lightning extension cord which helps immensely. Although I should get a longer one too.

Amir...I know you're an Apple fan but will MV88 work w/Samsung Note 10 w/out aftermarket add-ons? Have been fan of Shure mics since 1980s & I think they're MORE than worth $$$$. Outdoor test run was CRYSTAL clear w/little/no background noise & head/shoulders better than Apple Mike. BUT that's just me!-lol...Keep The Content Flowing....
stereo recording on iPhones started to be available with last years iPhone XS
Can you just plug this mic into your phone and record like an Instagram video or does it all have to go through the app?!? and then export and upload to IG?
The mic will register and be used with the normal camera app or any app with a camera but the shure app lets u mess with certain settings, but yes u can just plug this into ur phone and record.

@@croc313 oh ok. I like BandLab app for recording if doing it off iOS. I been rapping a long time actually off & on. Check my channel out if you want.
The other thing is that they said you should be in airplane mode when recording but then the app wouldn’t work so Idk if that could be an issue or not. I mean if you could get away with using it not in airplane mode or if it would cause interference . Anyway good lookin on the feedback tho bro. Btw I’m using some cheap ass Panasonic wired headphones and they work fine.

I bought the Shure and I feel the iPhone sounds better. This mic excels when there is tons of noise around then it picks my voice up more where with the iPhone I get drowned out by the noise around. iPhone and this both have that annoying hiss in the bg.
Maybe because I’m listening on iphone I didn’t feel like it was as different as I was expecting
