Nice job. One thing I've found that doesn't get discussed which I believe can affect performance is how poorly machined many of the Zama carbs are on critical surfaces from the factory. Some have fairly deep grooves and dents in the machined surfaces where I think it really counts. As a result of this I have a small thick sheet of glass that's perfectly flat and some 320 wet and dry paper. I wet everything up well and hand lap at least two surfaces if they're rough. Also due to the discoloration of the aluminum, you can see 'low spots". The critical surfaces would be the surface that goes up against the engine. If there are deep grooves or dents there, it's a place for air to leak causing the engine to run lean and have a laggy response to opening the throttle. . the other surface is the surface the flapper valves go up against. I take a few minutes and hand lap 3 surfaces. The diaphragm side (not so critical), the flapper valve side (critical), and the engine side of the carb (critical).. I use water or window cleaner spray and carefully slide the body back and forth. Doesn't take a lot of time.
Carb cleaner is ok to use on the plastic parts? I didn't think it was. At what PSI do you blow it off with? That ultrasonic cleaner really gets the job done! Nice!
Fantastic. I'll try to repair my craftsman blower vac carburetor before I take it to a repair shop or throw it away. I have nothing to lose. Last year, I paid $225.00 to fix it and it's leaking gas and refuse to start before the end of the season. Thanks for this video.
Awesome guide! Would you consider making future videos that demonstrate the malfunctioning carburetor before and afterwards the full function of the rebuild?
Are All 2cycle blower carbs the same. I'm about to to try to fix my friends blower so I can use it. All I know is tge primer bulb is bad. But its been sitting 2 yes. So I assume the carb will need going through
Hi Brandon, the blower 2 cycle carburetors basically are the same and accomplish the same job. But they are not all built the same way. Primer bulbs are different on some of them. If it has been sitting for two years, and if it has a rebuild kit, I would order it.
Hello, the latest parts diagram for a Husqvarna 350BT is for a 2009-10. I suggest that you locate the manufacture of your carburetor and the model number, then find a diagram for that carburetor and locate the repair kit for it.
If I cleaned the carburetor on a Echo weedeater and everything inside it is ok and the engine still runs a little erratic what should I do? The fuel lines are also ok.
I got craftsman 210 hand blower . that blower been hard starting from the day I bought it . did read book over and over . now does not start at all . 3 years old . you got any idea what wrong ? good job on video by the way .
Great video but you need to spend alot more time in noting on the spring assembly hold down the dimple needs to be into the spring not the other way and the hinge pin needs to be fully against the screw area to it pivots correctly.
Ereplacementparts.com. If one installs the metering gasket on the carburetor in reverse; will it cause the carburetor to not allow gas into the combustion chamber of the sparkplug? I can prime the carb. several times, but there is never any gas on the sparkplug. Should one suspect that the needle valve is not opening up, allowing gas to enter the combustion chamber; but is just circling through the carburetor, and back into the gas tank? What are your thoughts on this matter. Thanks for your help in this matter.
A metering gasket that was incorrectly installed could cause the problem as you have described. Another possibility is you may have a plugged port inside the carb. The ports on these carburetors are very small and the smallest particle and plug them up.
If you try this rebuild yourself I would suggest checking the paperwork or reference material online and make sure that the metering lever (the small silver rocker fork that moves the needle up and down) is correctly adjusted. They should be bent or straightened very slightly depending on the particular carburetor you are working on. Also, I am in agreement that if you use carburetor cleaner you need to wear gloves. That is nasty stuff! Otherwise this is a very informative video.
Why come my leaf blower wont start. It seemed like it wasn't firing. I held my hand on the naked plug wire as I pulled it , but wasn't shocked. I replaced the coil, but that didn't make it start. What could be causing this problem? Can anyone help me with this problem?
+1980AMPO You can buy a new carburetor on Amazon for around $15. Just remove 2 screws, the 2 fuel lines that simply slip off, and the throttle cable . Put the new one on the same way the old one went on. Much easier than rebuilding it, and about the same price.
Ok so my dwalt leafblower wasnt runing right.it kept boging down if ran for a while. Then it began to die so i had to run it at half choke all the time even after useing it. Now i have to run it at a quarter almost full choke or it dies i took my exaust off. The boxie looking pos that lasts .02 seconds . and i started it up and it was blowing lots of gas out the um....... Im a truck guy so lets just say manifold gas coming out of the manifold. But it never ignited while coming out.and the blower smokes like i mfr. White smoke off the coolers and around tge plug . yes ive replaced the plug the plug wire the pump the filter witch was a bitch trying to put back togeatger in that little ass tank but i got it. Lol . i cleaned the carb got new seals n still didnt work i even got a different primer bulb. Its a 2 cycle. Oil n gas the 2 cycle synthetic mix stuff what do i do. Any one got an idea be sides go get a new blower or be cause its a dewalt.
Thanks for posting this easy fix!

Where do you get those fuel clamps? Man they're handier than using vise grips!

Great video but you need to spend alot more time in noting on the spring assembly hold down the dimple needs to be into the spring not the other way and the hinge pin needs to be fully against the screw area to it pivots correctly.
And be sure that spring is completely vertical when u install it.

You were right, I accidently put it in backwards or upside down. Thanks.

Hi Jordan, could you please provide your model number on your DeWalt leaf blower and I will be happy to research this for you.
Or you could just buy a new one for $19.00 on Ebay
