    Your a good man Kevin to work on things for free or just to cover your expense. Not many of your kind left now a days. Also, taking pictures is a must for me. Pictures have saved my butt on several occasions :) At 69 years of age relying on my memory is not so good anymore. Thank you for sharing your expertise in your videos. Not only are they enjoyable they are very educational. Learning new stuff is so much fun. Love your channel, keep up the good work. Stay safe and be well.

    Lately, I have been using diesel fuel for cleaning parts, it off-gassing far less than gasoline or kerosene but still makes an excellent solvent. That stated, my carburetor maintenance is fairly standardized: First, before disassembly or removal, I blow off as much dirt and grime with compressed air. Then I brush the remaining grime with diesel fuel, blowing the fuel away with compressed air. After removing the carburetor, I brush of any remaining grime with diesel fuel while plugging both ports with my fingers, blowing of the residual with compressed air. After disassembly, I squirt carburetor cleaner down the various passages, followed by compressed air. Then I ultrasonically clean the carburetor, 15-minutes a side using SharperTek SC20 carburetor cleaner degreaser. Then I dip the carburetor into a distilled water rinse. Then I blow off as much water as possible before dipping it into a 99% IPA bath to displace any remaining water, Finally, I blow off the IPA with compressed air, reassembling the carburetor with a rebuild kit, installing it back onto the unit.
    Once I tried to perform carburetor maintenance on a Honda HRC216 lawn mower, skipping the carburetor cleaner and compressed air down the passages treatment and it failed. Apparently, ultrasonic cleaning can only do so much, clearing completely clogged passages being beyond its ability. For the record, I use a SharperTek XPD360-6L, a good quality sweep ultrasonic cleaner.

The bulb filled with gasoline. Looks like the gas removed the clog and any debris. I reinstalled the bulb and carb and the blower fired right up.

    Kevin, I just finished your weed wacker magneto video and then came here. Back to the magneto video. I don't have the feeler gauges so I may have to borrow some from a friend if I am to tackle that. My problem is my Echo PB250LN blower. It starts right away and runs until warm and then quits. It won't restart when warm. If I let it sit overnight (or some extended period), it fires right up again. When it quits, I am running it at full throttle while in use and it just dies without any hesitation. So far, I have changed the spark plug, air filter, gas line air filter, taken the carb apart and cleaned it but still, the problem persists. A knowledgable friend thinks the possibility might be a defective coil that is fine when cold but then when warm becomes faulty. Do you have any thoughts on what it might be or what I should try next? This unit is only 3-4 yrs old but I am struggling. I have searched google and youtube but can't find a solution to my problem. Really liked your video and have subscribed. Thanks for what you do and any suggestions.

      @@Robinson-Homestead Thanks for the response. While I was doing other projects I let the blower sit on my workbench for a few days. I tried it again before going after the coil and this time it worked. It has been working fine since then. I think the problem might have been a dirty carb? I had taken it apart as previously mentioned but not being well educated in this area, I was hit and miss on where to spray the carb cleaner. Now, with hindsight, I think my problem was that it took a bit of time for all the carb cleaner I sprayed in it, to work its way to the problem. Thanks for your help.

    • @digger26
      @digger26 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Robinson-Homestead I'm wrong and I think you're right. The blower runs from cold and is okay if it doesn't quit. Ran out of gas half way through my job and had to wait for it to cool completely (next day) before it would restart. My current problem is a new coil in Ontario, Canada costs $115. This is almost prohibitive to spend on a several year old unit. I'll try to make sure it has enough gas and run it continually from cold to get my jobs done. The new coil will have to wait. Thanks again for the help and great videos.

      Probably too late to answer this for you but it’s a year later. The ones with the protrusion is just a vent. You can put some sealer or something on the tip and lightly place the cover against it, that will mark the cover for you, then take a 1/4” drill and slowly drill out the plastic to fit for the vent if that’s the type you purchased. Both will work fine and I’ve seen both types as well. Hope this helps

    If the fuel primer gets stuck when you press it, could that be a clogged carburetor?

      @@Robinson-Homestead no worries man, I changed the fuel lines, new fuel filter, new primer pump, cleaned blockage in the screens with carb cleaner, still dont work. Probably gonna throw in the trash, lol!!!

      No. That happens when the hoses are reversed, because fuel can flow in only one direction through the carb.
