Has anyone noticed that French fried onion rings, that are typically used on the green bean cassarole is very low in carbs? I add this to crushed pork rinds and grated cheese as breading for pork chops. Yum.
I noticed that too. I used to use pork rinds until I found the French fried onion rings are not that high in carbs. They may gave other additives though. But low on carbs.

The recall was reported by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on May 2, 2024. The recalled products were distributed in Arizona and Illinois, and some were also sold internationally.
Given that they started life as onions, I don't trust the manufacturer's carɓ declaration. Also be aware that, in the US, they get away with really low carb counts by using stupidly small seving size 🙄
looks good. Im going to try this recipe with one modification....cut the onions into rings instead of slices. The smaller rings would work really well.
I dont usually comment but i here for this recipe. I added double the onion to give more flavor. But omg these little keto onion 🌰 rings were so good dipped in ranch dressing! 😍 😊😊
I missed the wait 3 min.'s tip & looked like a gummy mess lol Wanted to make sure the onion didn't have a raw flavor so I sauteed for a bit Delish. Going to be a perfect side dish or snack Yum!!
@@PaleobarbiedoesKeto Yes and I even let it cook longer. Only thing I could reason was that I had too much onion in my mix - giving it a lot more moisture. I’ll keep trying because onion rings are my favorite side with a keto burger!
Funny stuff: The question about onions being KETO Friendly.. If you google it - it's kind of all over the map.. rofl. First there are a consideralble amount of carbs in a WHOLE ONION.. Second, Onions consist mostly of simple sugars, such as glucose, fructose, and sucrose. A typical med-large whole onion has 30-40 carbs in it.. and ya that blows your whole daily carb intake out of the water.. But in this recipe.. you're unlikely eating anywhere close to the whole onion. Onions in moderation are a little carby.. but.. if your're just eating 1/10 of the onion.. in these chaffle onion rings.. you're hardly blowning your daily carb intake. And no, cooking them DOES NOT LESSEN THE CARBS - sorry.

Not sure I trust the carb count. USDA permits such a wide error range, I think some companies take advantage of it

Try adding egg white x 1 and 2 table spoons of almond flour 1/4 t spoon of baking powder that will improve these.

Why not use an onion ring?
This puts the onion throughout instead of just a ring. It creates a waffle to use as a bun
French's fried onions pieces and cheese.. not healthy but quick and good

There are very small amounts in here and I’m not eating them everyday. I’m not worried about it.
