  • Button box (3 momentary buttons, 3 rotary encoders with buttons tested) and simple dash display for SimHub via Bluetooth. Seems promising. Only issue is a millisec or so latency on the gear display but so far have not affect driving. Trying to "squeeze" as much from the single board but we'll see how.
In the video, SimHub using Mobile Dash and the Bluetooth version. Still work in progress. Do subscribe to follow the progress.
Btw, its going to the Thrustmaster Open Wheel if you're wondering.
Side note, LED matrix for gear display does work as well.
Also next video, will be "RC" related, following up the "Tiny Racing" videos.

I already have a tablet as a dash screen via usb tethering, is Bluetooth able to be connected also for a phone for digital button box with a usb tether tablet?
I'm having constant issues connecting 2 devices via usb tethering.

If you're using a tablet, you can also connect via wifi. Thus in this case one can connect via usb tethering and the other via wifi

Hi very nice work, I currently have the plan to implement a custom steering wheel with buttons and dash board powered from simhub via Bluettoth. I saw you shared information about how to feed data to a LCD screen via bluetooth. Can you also share information about how you do for the buttons ? you use the "Arduino" feature from simhub or you sticked to the custom serial device ?

Hi, sorry for the late reply and thanks!
Yes, I did use the "Arduino" feature from SimHub for an initial button box build using an Arduino Pro Micro connected via USB (something like th-cam.com/video/BlItglAxh5E/w-d-xo.html). I then ported it to ESP32 which then no longer use the SimHub "Arduino" feature. The custom serial device was used for the screen to get the data.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. I’ll dig deeper the serial protocol used by sim hub for custom devices :-). You had the chance to finalize you project ?

Hi, you're welcome. Yup, I did finalize the project - th-cam.com/video/A_4dtRSZH-Q/w-d-xo.html

I am working on a similar project and what you have done is exactly what I am trying to do.
My problem is that when the game starts running, apparently simhub doesn't deliver the values to my ESP32 like it does when the game isn't running so the scanrate or FPS drops from 60hz to a poor 2hz or 3hz.
Have you had this problem? Can you tell me how you turned out?

When a game is not running, no data will be sent to the ESP32. Either start a game or use a replay to get the data, my suggestion is to use replay as it's easier to trace and troubleshoot. If there is still no data, check the COM port, I did encounter this and need to change the port but this only happens when testing the codes probably due the frequent restarting of SimHub.
Also in order to get 60 fps, you'll need a license for SimHub.

@@simplyatomic No worry. Thanks for the answere. I found the problem, was bad luck, I test with asseto Corsa competicione, un solo mode and thet mode have a problem of scanrate with simhub. I don't know way. I test with pc2 and everithing was right

Noted and thanks for that info. I used it mainly for ACC but I did add custom data to SimHub. Been awhile I played ACC (or any sim racing), not sure if there are changes that might affect this.
