The Putin videos are OK too but some of the words he uses would not be part of everyday speech. The sequence you use for learning is fantastic!
Great movie! ёлки 2 and 3 are also decent. ёлки 1 is a classic! The film teaches you alot about Russian culture for example: I never knew in Russia on new years eve you write a wish on paper and burn it and drink it within champagne to make it come true.

I'm learning some unstated pronunciation facts. к девушке: к before д becomes voiced like г. щ seems to be nearly always be pronounced the same as ш. If not so, what are the rules on that? Thanks!
Why unstated? Russian pronunciation follows very strict rules, ones you know them, you can easily read any Russian word. In addition to devoicing in Russian pronunciation, we also have the reverse phenomenon - voicing. Voicing occurs when a voiceless consonant (к) is in front of a voiced consonant (д). In this position the voiceless consonant (к) will be pronounced like its voiced counterpart (г).
The difference between then letters is the pitch with the higher-pitch one pulling the lips back and perhaps a slight difference in tongue placement. The deeper pitch almost puckers the lips forward like for a kiss

It would be good if you could also explain in more detail at least some of the difficult words encountered in the clip, eg giving more examples, specifying their register and so on. But your videos are also great as they are, anyway :)

Sure, I understand! I'll write here my findings on some of the words and expressions I found difficult. I hope this post will be useful to other people. Да бери, бери, у меня ещё есть! The initial да is a particle used, informally, for emotional emphasis. It can be translated as "cm'on", "go on (and)" у нас запрещено распивать спиртные напитки "у нас запрещено", literaly 'with us it is forbidden' it's the Russian way of saying 'We don't allow', 'alcoholic beverages are not allowed','You're not allowed' or similar. An unexpected usage to me. распивать means here: 'to have a drink together with someone else' ловко ты с ней! ловко меанс 'adroitly, craftily, cunningly, clevery'. So the whole expression word-for-word translated into: 'smoothly you with her!' or, perhaps, 'that was smooth of you with her!' I believe this one of the situations where Russian shows its penchant for dropping verbs altogether. I suspect с нею is also possible, but probably sounds too literary for this context. Якутский драматический. A reference to the якутский драматический театр. Perhaps obvious to Russians but puzzling to me, in part because of the succinctness and unexpectedness of the utterance, in part because I'd never heard of a 'drama(tic) theatre' in English or of a 'teatro drammatico' in Italian. Also in this case, no verbs, no 'theatre', no 'I attended', nothing. Чё в Питер? Чё is informal for что, and in this case it means почему: 'why to Peterburg?' Again, no verb was deemed necessary. Other examples of 'что' used with the meaning 'почему': что же ты не едешь? As usually no verb, no пожалуйста, nothing. про рай в шалаше рассказышать A шалаш is a kind of hut, perhaps made of tree branches or straw, made as a temporary shelter. Etymologically it's from Turkish languages. I´m not sure what you mean by "reading a grammar book professionally" but to answer your question, it´s not possible to learn any language just by reading because you also need to focus on other aspects of the language - listening, speaking, grammar, et.c

Donkey is осел, not трактор but the phrase "to work as a tractor" doesn´t make sense in English that is why I avoided the literal translation
It's better to say: to work like a dog. To 'work like a donkey' is not english. Oh yes, there is 'donkey work', but in that word order it is okay.
