It's not that it's not important, it's just not that helpful when it comes to learning languages; but hey, if you enjoy studying grammar, fine, you do you. That said, if you hope to acquire a language by studying it's grammar, trust me, you won't go anywhere. Instead, invest that time in listening to natives in different content, preferably with subtitles in your language. Me, as an example, I'm able to speak a decent English just from watching content without studying grammar, and I've seen many people who speak grammatically correct languages with no grammar study, whilst, I don't speak french, even though we study it since early elementary school years until college.

@@fatima3411 it is helpful, adults don't acquire grammar easily (specially when it comes to complex grammar) and of course making mistakes is a part of a process but one should be confident to a decent extent to compose a sentence or two in the target language. skipping the grammar by just saying "it's not helpful" is a wrong idea. people should just bear in mind not to get super obsessed with grammar.
      -how?

И мы никогда не думаем, хорошо или плохо вы говорите по-русски, мы заняты шоком от этого, и вообще главное - понимание, для выживания. книга is a feminine word, thus that would be "одна книга". then there is a more complicated part :) we change the name of Dostoevsky. одна книга (кого? of whom? --> родительный падеж, genitive case) Достоевского. that's it! "у меня есть одна книга Достоевского"
      "хаха" was natural 😁

I totally agree. I have been studying the Russian language for just over a year, and I study it every day. From the beginning I was concerned about learning at least the basic principles of grammar, and I confess that it helped me a lot. There was a moment when I had to stop, because the grammar was becoming more difficult and because I needed to apply what I had already learned or my brain would burn, literally. Today, I study less grammar, but I write more, I listen more and whenever I can I dedicate myself to verbs and declensions. I know it will take years to master this language, but I will get there and with a lot of effort!

In fact, for years I have been observing the large number of people who claim to speak a certain language without ever really studying it. They are the polyglots who learned by watching videos and listening to music... They will never, ever have a certificate, because they don't know how to write in the language... it's a shame. Unfortunately, there are a large number of people who advocate immersion, but without grammar they will be illiterate repeaters of ready-made sentences.

From a native speaker: we do struggle with our language a lot.
We've learned it around five times a week for 11 years in school, and we still make mistakes. Even adults. Even adults with a solid education. I graduated from high school with honors (in Saint Petersburg), and I have great linguistic intuition, but I wanted to cry while we were learning the forms of participles with Н in -НН- and -ЕНН-\-ЁНН- suffixes. And some other stuff. We had been learning grammar rules by heart and telling them later in front of the class. It was a pure torture. We had a lot of dictations, dictoglosses, and spelling quizzes - almost all the time. We always had 2 or 3 marks for every text we wrote: for grammar/punctuation and a separate one for your thoughts, and it was a common thing to have something like 3/5/5 (C/A/A) because it was hard to keep everything in place.
And yes, we respect everyone who learns Russian as a second language. We have no idea how you guys decided to do this voluntarily.
    Take care!

Great video, it has helped me understand Russian better especially the cases. Even though I'm Slavic, I have trouble with Russian genitive and prepositional since they're a lot different than in my language.
Btw, at 16:12 you used the term conjugation. Just to remind you, conjugation is for verbs, and declination for nouns, pronouns, adjectives and numbers.

As a native speaker of Russian, I highly praise your efforts, Iclal! Very good done indeed, пожалуйста, продолжай в том же духе!
On the flip side, I think one of the real things that adds to the headache of (any) learner of this (super rich, hence beautiful) language is this bare truth that you have to live with - the number of grammatical EXCEPTIONS in Russian OUTSTRIPS the number of grammatical RULES! That's the way it is! There's no one to blame for, that's how the Russian language has evolved throughout history. You can do almost nothing about it, but immerse into a community of native speakers. Or be disciplined enough (!) to steadfastly make your brain absorb these exceptions on your own. It's gonna be tough BUT possible. Oh boy, I still remember the tables of words we had to memorise at school... Just my ¢2!

hey bro thanks for this video
i speak 6 languages, 4 native, 2 learned in school (spanish, portuguese, catalan, galician, italian, and english) and im learning russian but i always thought i just wont be able too because im not actually russian (caused by the number of my native languages) and because the culture and history was so much different than spain's and thats amplified even more due to the fact that im also mexican and was raised in mexico and the culture in mexico is much different than in spain leading to a double cultural barrier **but basically** i thought it was gonna be impossible for me to learn russian because im not russian, never been to russia and theres only a small group of people in my city that speak russian but this video cleared a lot of things up that i wouldnt have gotten before
also the video is just really good and made me realize how similar spanish and russian are gramatically also makes the language feel a lot more easier to understand with your godly explanations of everything
    anyways have a good day

Selam aleykum ve merhaba Iclal😃. Nice video. I've been interested from Russian for most of my life, lol. I never studied it though, just learned little from my friends etc. I can speak Serbian quite fluently though. So just now recently I started to look some little things in Russian, like short videos and reading some youtube comments, checking up some words from the dictionary now and then just merely out of curiosity etc. I noticed that I can understand quite lot, often the vocabulary is almost the same or very similar in Russian compared to Serbian, although Serbian has a lot Turkish loanwords in daily usage but the core is quite Slavic in general. Sometimes some words are more similar to Ukrainian than to Russian though. Very interesting. The grammar also works in similar ways with masculine, feminine and neutral etc.

just nitpicking a bit, but the correct word for putting words into cases is decline (declension), not conjugate (conjugation)
