    SD card is important, slow cards will result in corrupt pictures and lost travel time to your flying spot

      Thanks for watching - you are correct and the section on it in the vid is a little short. I’ll add the minimum specs required in the description 👍

      from the DJI website :
      “A UHS-I Speed Grade 3 rating or above microSD card is required due to the fast read and write speeds necessary for high-resolution videos and photos.”

      That is the microSD I am using. Just need another backup storage device.

    Some very useful tips here…along with some essential information, such as needing an Operator I.D. ( which must be displayed on your drone/s ). Thanks for sharing. Andy 👍🇬🇧

    Great information! Just want to share something about choosing the controller. One HUGE advantage of using the RC-N1 with phones is the ability to use 3rd party apps like Litchi, Maven, Dronelink, Pix4D and Map Pilot Pro.

      Ooh - yes - very good point (possibly for the more advanced user though)
      New vid coming out later today, so would be interested in anything you have to add to that as well! 😀

      Definitely - I’ve done Refresh on all of my DJI products, but there are equally good specialist insurers out there such as Coverdrone

    I see you have a backpack 🎒 for your drone. Have you tried several and liked that one best, or have others...? I have a mini 4 pro, and the bag it comes with just isn't going to work for hikes or anything, really. Thanks.

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree with you on the bag that DJI supplies - it's a minimum viable product really. I did try a couple of other 'non photography' type backpacks and they were OK, but my son bought me this one and so far it has been great, although with my ever expanding collection of drones and camera gear I am on the lookout for a larger one... • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice - I’m guessing you’re not in the EU as it’s pretty tricky to get hold of the plus battery here. Careful with the regs as in some regions there are different guidelines for drones >250g.
      Have fun & thanks for watching!

    Should I get the Mini 2 SE in less than a week from now or should I save my money and wait 3 weeks and get the mini 3

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my opinion, bearing in mind I’ve never flown the Mini 2 SE, you’re getting a lot more tech with the Mini 3 pro, but then you are paying significantly more as well. I know of people that have the Mini 2 SE, but it really does depend on your budget and how much you are going to fly.
      I started with the Mini 3 Pro and although the Mini 4 pro is similar it had enough points of difference and improvement for me to just buy it as soon as it came out.
      If you can stretch to the Mini 3 Fly More combo then the mats definitely worth getting. If you can’t then probably still wait 3!weeks and get the Mini 2 SE fly more combo - definitely worth having those extra batteries!
      Good luck my friend - let me know how you get on and thanks for watching!

    I fly a Dji Mini 3 Pro. Very fun machine. But when I down load file to my iMac, some of the 4 minute videos are as much a 1.24 GB and larger. What should I do to save the files. Certainly not that large. Do I use a zip file or something of the sort?

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The codec used for your video files is already highly efficient, especially using h.265, so zipping them is unlikely to yield much of a space saving. For example as an experiment I just zipped a 1.533 gb video file and it went down to 1.517gb.
      So unfortunately it may be a case of lowering your resolution or frame rate to achieve smaller files, but there is obviously a trade off with quality.
      I personally save all of my raw footage to my network attached storage, but I do appreciate that not everyone has that (or the need for it!).
      There are some good and fairly cheap 1-2 tb solid state thunderbolt external drives out there (especially right now around Black Friday!) that would work though. Eg Crucial X10 Pro 2TB Portable SSD - amzn.eu/d/eM7DWzP.
      With the speed of that drive you could download files through your Mac directly onto is and also edit video from that drive without having to keep them on your Mac’s hard drive.

      @jerryhubbard4461 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you very much. I do have one external drive to back up the Mac but not for these large files. I will look at purchasing a backup just for the videos. Thanks again for the help. Jerry @@amoktimeflies

    Haftpflichtversicherungen für Drohnen sind wichtig

      @amoktimeflies  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      “Liability insurance for drones is important” - Thankyou - yes very good point. This applies in some countries as well. I believe it is mandatory in Germany?
      In other countries such as the UK, even if it isn’t mandatory, you must have public liability insurance if you undertake any type of commercial work, but not necessarily for recreational flying.

  • @VinnyUnion
    @VinnyUnion 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    One of the essential things to do is to slap a "Fπ÷% FAA!"-sticker on the drone.
    This reminds me of the friggin' "GEMA" that germany had a decade ago where you could not listen to international music without a vpn and whatnot. Like dam.

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Vinny - yes that’s a very good point, similarly the CAA require you to have a sticker on your aircraft with your operator id on it. The lettering needs to be a minimum of 3mm high and it must be applied on an area that is easily accessible. Personally I try to apply mine just inside the battery bay.

    • @VinnyUnion
      @VinnyUnion 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@amoktimeflies at the top of the drone seems to be the most accessible place in cases of flyaways or crashes. The side would be likely better against wind and such.
      Anyway - I'm surprised for such a detailed reply on a rather blah-blah comment.
      Either way, where does the license apply to? Like, what about flying indoors and on your property with a sub 311g drone copter?
      I figured I'd attach a lightweight 180 lumens keychain flashlight onto mine and turn it into a possible work drone. I still haven't flown that thing past a meter from my sight even though I'm deliberately using a FCC modified app for a (hopefully) far stable connection. But I don't know, I have a hard time trusting WiFi technology. I'm far too paranoid to fly this thing outside even though I'm spouting the most rebellious comments when it comes to regulations.

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @VinnyUnion top is definitely the most accessible place, but if you do TH-cam vids where the drone can be seen you either need to cover it up or make it less visible (just to guard against very unlikely id theft).
      I’ve got another vid in the works about ‘your first flight’. Defo would advise flying indoors unless to have a particularly large room with a high ceiling, if only because if done it and it didn’t turn out well! 😂
      As far as attaching objects is concerned, just make sure they are secure and don’t put your UAS over its weight class, at least without the correct certification to fly.
      This is particularly tricky if you want to put a strobe on a mini 3/4 for night flying as it is bound to raise your takeoff weight by more than one gram and put you over the 250g limit. This was one of the reasons I took the A2 CofC (I *think* the US equivalent is the Part 107?)

      Do I need a CAA sticker on my Mini 3 drone? With operator ID

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep 💯but it’s not an official CAA sticker as such just any sticker with your handwritten operator ID (or if you’re posh you could print it out and stick it on 😄)

      May be better following the UK consultation that potentially comes into effect in 2026 - there are some relaxations but some extra restrictions as well. Swings and roundabouts...
      However I absolutely support the education of new drone pilots though regulation; if anything just to keep the hobby safe and above reproach.
