tohatsus are quiet, once i had mine warming up at the dock and a guy came by and asked if I had trouble starting, he didn't even realize it was idling until he was right up next to it

The quietness of the engine is very impressive, even on the plane.

Very nice. I have a 20hp Tohatsu 4 stroke on my 16ft Naden. Planes easily with 3 guys and fishing gear and sips fuel. They are great engines. I may get the 30 Tohatsu for this boat for pushing big loads of gear, the 20 is a little light for a full load in my 16ft'er.

I'll run it at WOT the first time it's out. If it brakes they're getting it back

It dont brake but maybe you get a bit less performance in the long run, but i dont think so.My is ten years old and yesterday 1hour on wot from Bergen in Norway to Austevoll close to Stord Island south,.Use a semisynthetic in break in and then fully synthetic 5w40 afterwards, then it goes to "the Moon"=)

As far as fuel economy it is very good on fuel. I ran it just a little over four hours, and it only took 3 gallons of gas and that was running at around 3/4 throttle most of the time. I am very pleased with the engine so far. I am now at around 22 hrs.

Hi Brent, its 2019.now and I wanted to ask you what you say about engine now? Are you all in all satisfied or what? Looking to buy brand new outboard and Tohatsu 30 is on my top.

      @@AirlinersHD I'm also wondering this!

@@AirlinersHD If there's any trouble with a Tohatsu or any of the major brands now, it's going to be a random mishap.
Tohatsu builds quality products, they aren't new to the game whatsoever and commercial fisherman worldwide rely on them. That's who Mercury gets to make their small outboards.
Really difficult to buy a bad outboard in today's market.

I'm looking for a propeller shaft for TOHATSU 40hp 2006 model (2 stroke) can anyone help me??

  • @ve3xtr
    @ve3xtr 9 ปีที่แล้ว

More then likely they put a 11 pitch prop on that. That what the dealer gave me on my 2014 30hp. You may be able to get away with using a 12 pitch but your hole shot will suffer.

This is the only outboard motor I found that came with controls and a prop for under $4,800. My local mechanic said that was rigged price too. So once tax tome comes my little whaler will have a brand new motor

It run and run this engine. I used this wideo as reference to the coling water it spit out and it spit the same after years of use compared to this one. I think oil changes are important, i run full synth 5,40 and change it each 6 mounths and filter each year.

Tohatsu manufactures all smaller block Mercurys, since 2008 I believe, just different cowling and brand on them. Up to 40hp I believe. I run a 2008 15hp Tohatsu. Fully compareable to Honda and Yamaha. It's down to personal preferences and how you maintain them.

I thnk it would be fairer to say that 30hp mercurys are smallblock tohatsus as it's tohatsu who makes them !

I'm not sure what the pitch is I will check next time I use the boat. I am still running the original prop, all I know at this moment is that it is a stock aluminum that comes with the engine. It seems to run out fine, it will push my small aluminum flat just above 30 mph at wide open throttle on the gps. I think it would do a little better if I could trim it higher, my boat is a little light for the engine so I have to keep it trimmed pretty low to keep it from bouncing up and down

Great engine, i have the same in 25. 4 stroke. It,s 7 years, newer stopped and just changed oil ewery year. PLugs after 2 , Newer off boat, use it summer and some trips in winther. This thing go and go until you maybee manage to wear it out etc but i think it would be difficult. The boat is a Norwegian Pioner 15:)
