    This is the only outboard motor I found that came with controls and a prop for under $4,800. My local mechanic said that was rigged price too. So once tax tome comes my little whaler will have a brand new motor

      It dont brake but maybe you get a bit less performance in the long run, but i dont think so.My is ten years old and yesterday 1hour on wot from Bergen in Norway to Austevoll close to Stord Island south,.Use a semisynthetic in break in and then fully synthetic 5w40 afterwards, then it goes to "the Moon"=)

    Engine is still running great. I was on lake Pontchartrain the other day and it ran like new. I haven't used it as much as I wish I could but I am very happy with it so far. My son is in remission, he still has treatment for a good while longer. We thank god he is with us everyday. Thank you to all who commented and who wished him well. I believe the Tohatsu is a good engine and I hope I get good service from it in the future. Good luck to all of you!

    Tohatsu manufactures all smaller block Mercurys, since 2008 I believe, just different cowling and brand on them. Up to 40hp I believe. I run a 2008 15hp Tohatsu. Fully compareable to Honda and Yamaha. It's down to personal preferences and how you maintain them.

      I thnk it would be fairer to say that 30hp mercurys are smallblock tohatsus as it's tohatsu who makes them !

    Hello everyone. It's been awhile since I have commented. My life was turned upside down just after buying this engine so I haven't been able to run the engine as much as I had planned. My little boy was diagnosed with leukemia. I still have the tohatsu, although I have put it on my skiff. I have a 17 ft. Fiberglass skiff and the engine is awesome on it. It is very easy on fuel and I have had no trouble with it so far. It is also nice to be able to talk to someone in the boat while the engine is running, it is very quiet. At this point I would have to say yes to anyone asking if I would buy another tohatsu. Good luck to you all!

  • @khsyv

    +Brent Pearson Thanks for making this video. I've own the same engine myself, '08-model, long shaft, el. start, but no power tilt/trim. I've have not measured how many hours it has been running, but it just runs and runs. Of course, I have been servicing the enginge myself. Changing oil, checking the fuel filter. I've only changed the spark plugs once, even though they seemed fine.... :-) There have been two problems with it. Had to get it to the my dealer to change the impeller. It was my own fault, I ran the engine without water cooling for about a minute after a oil change. That was enough to ruin the impeller. The other problem I've experienced are common on these engines. The plastic part (tube) which leads the cooling water through the 'back' of the engine was clogged. Just use a metal paperclip or a very tiny wire to fix it. I hope your boy is getting well from the leukaemia!

    Great engine, i have the same in 25. 4 stroke. It,s 7 years, newer stopped and just changed oil ewery year. PLugs after 2 , Newer off boat,use it summer and some trips in winther.This thing go and go until you maybee manage to wear it out etc but i think it would be difficult. The boat is a Norwegian Pioner 15:)

    More then likely they put a 11 pitch prop on that. That what the dealer gave me on my 2014 30hp. You may be able to get away with using a 12 pitch but your hole shot will suffer.

  • @brentpearson6733
    @brentpearson6733 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just letting y'all know so far I am very happy with the engine. I haven't gotten to make anymore videos lately because right after I made this video I found out my baby boy had Lukemia. I have gotten to run the engine in occasion and I now have 22 hrs on it with no hiccups. Engine is quiet and uses little fuel, every time I run it I enjoy it. At this point I would have to recommend it for sure, if you are in the market for an outboard this size I would look into a tohatsu as an option. The power tilt and electric start work great. I hope my comments and video are helpful to all who view them and good luck to you all.

    As far as fuel economy it is very good on fuel. I ran it just a little over four hours, and it only took 3 gallons of gas and that was running at around 3/4 throttle most of the time. I am very pleased with the engine so far. I am now at around 22 hrs.

    • @Resistculturaldecline
      @Resistculturaldecline 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AirlinersHD If there's any trouble with a Tohatsu or any of the major brands now, it's going to be a random mishap. Tohatsu builds quality products, they aren't new to the game whatsoever and commercial fisherman worldwide rely on them. That's who Mercury gets to make their small outboards. Really difficult to buy a bad outboard in today's market.

    I'm not sure what the pitch is I will check next time I use the boat. I am still running the original prop, all I know at this moment is that it is a stock aluminum that comes with the engine. It seems to run out fine, it will push my small aluminum flat just above 30 mph at wide open throttle on the gps. I think it would do a little better if I could trim it higher, my boat is a little light for the engine so I have to keep it trimmed pretty low to keep it from bouncing up and down

  • @ve3xtr
    @ve3xtr 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice. I have a 20hp Tohatsu 4 stroke on my 16ft Naden. Planes easily with 3 guys and fishing gear and sips fuel. They are great engines. I may get the 30 Tohatsu for this boat for pushing big loads of gear, the 20 is a little light for a full load in my 16ft'er.
