made in japan with Japanese quality standard and have a long history... that's good enough for me! I look online and the Suzuki is just a bit cheaper. I might go with the Suzuki though
Suzuki is excellent too, nothing wrong with any of them. Hard to find a bad, new outboard. Use them responsibly, maintain them correctly and they'll last thousands of hours and decades. Quality wise, it's so equal that you're probably better off shopping according to you nearest dealer availability, and what color you like.
@@Wyatt_M140 100% normal I love my Tohatsu engine, it’s one of the best/most reliable 30hp outboard I’ve own and I’ve owned over a dozen. Every video I’ve watched made the same noise in a dozen or more people’s videos
I have a 2016 tracker 1448 with the alum floor and console with steering I have a Suzuki 25 four stroke and do 28 mph by myself I'm wondering what that 30 would do for me
I do have tilt and trim but any higher it starts to porpoise badly even with someone up front. I actually sold the boat to a friend who put a whale tail on the engine which helped out greatly.
I just bought this engine and was so confused about the tilt/trim button position... How the heck to you adjust on the go without taking your hand off!?
walk0327 you think with that same load in my boat a 1448 flat bottom with one battery trolling motor and a floor with a stainless prop would go 37 to 38
The engine is awesome. I had a 15 on it before and it was a night and day difference. If your happy with your current setup save your money because they aren't cheap.
@@Wyatt_M140 I currently have a 15hp on my 1560 jon boat (~550lb dry weight) and am topped out at 12mph. What were you running at with the 15 on your rig?
That 30hp looks like it was going pretty fast
I know this is an older video but what prop are you running? I'm wanting to go up in pitch on mine and wondering what size I should go with
Man that thing is quiet.
get better speed if you raised the engine up a little

Get a Suzuki, I know I'm late but I have a Suzuki 6hp
Tohatsu builds these for Mercury and Honda, just pop the engine cover off and compare, same motor
1:01 is that winning/whisle sound normal? 1:18 is the same noise. My tohatsu does the same thing.
I never noticed the noise. I"m guessing it is normal. I was always impressed with this engine.

Kada se motor postavlja na dodatu plocu, uvek ce biti ptoblem.Sasvim se drugacije ponasa i ide, ako je postavljen direktno na zadnjicu camca.

Jh1982jh I wouldn't think the 30 would give you much more speed.
send it with a 40 or 50hp
Not much honestly. Look at the displacement on a 30 and 25 and then looking the power to weight ratio. The 30 is heavier with same displacement
JOE K they weigh the same
@@cohoman83 The 25 is literally a detuned 30...
Thats drag you see there on both sides of the motor it can be raised some more
Which jackplate is that ?
You don't have tilt and trim? You need to bring motor up some, nice setup little brother

@@Wyatt_M140 he getting more top speed then you know i know it cuz he able to trim his motor up better
Got damn 25hp have gotten fast
Top speed?
Who is manufacture of Jackplate
Vance enterprises.
@@Wyatt_M140 ok thank you. Do yo remember model number?
@@deanf7086 the number is JPL9638 but this was just a kick up plate.
@@Wyatt_M140 Ok, appreciate your help.
Can you tell me what jackplate you are using and if you are happy with it?
Wayne Swicegood this is actually a kickup plate. Cannot move it up or down. Here is the link to the plate. www.vancemfg.com/category-s/152.htm
Porque hizo como si se trabara?
What size prop?
I no longer have the boat but I think it was a 13 pitch.
What a boat?
Shturmann Auto it's a 1448 Tracker Grizzly.
How much did it cost? I currently have a 25hp Honda 4 stroke and only getting 18mph with 2 people.
BlackguppyRAW this one I think was 4600.
walk0327 thx!
I just bought this engine and was so confused about the tilt/trim button position... How the heck to you adjust on the go without taking your hand off!?
Yeah it's not in the best position. Wish it was at the end of the handle.
How fast is this rig
Nicholas Carcerano with one person it will run 34-35 mph with GPS.
Is that with a trolling motor and battery and does it have a floor and what prop are you running
with one battery, trolling motor, no floor yet. 13 pitch aluminum prop that came with the engine.
walk0327 you think with that same load in my boat a 1448 flat bottom with one battery trolling motor and a floor with a stainless prop would go 37 to 38
being that mine is a 1448 I would say you might be topped out about the same speed as mine. Either way it's pretty quick and great engine so far.
Should I get this or Honda 30 hp tiller?
Nothing wrong with the Honda but I prefer the fuel injection over carburetors. Plus the Tohatsu is probably cheaper.
LOL Tohatsu makes them for Honda, look at them together
How fast?
30-32 mph.
Hey, not sure if your still checking comments on this video but would you recommend upgrading to this from a Mercury 20? How has it held up?
