One of the secrets behind Tesla’s success in the EV market is its Gigacast, a massive metal casting machine that can produce the entire rear underbody of a car in one piece. This reduces the number of parts, the weight, the complexity, and the cost of production.
Now, even though Toyota just recently announced its entry into the EV segment, it is not looking to play second fiddle to anyone. The Japanese company has revealed its own version of Gigacast, which it claims is even bigger and better than Tesla’s.
Join us as we take a look at Toyota’s new Gigapress that has shocked the car industry.

That's funny, almost everyone watching the rate of EV adoption has concluded that the future of Toyota and other Japanese automakers is in doubt, since they were so slow to develop BEV technology.
Toyota's current BEVs offer 2016 level EV performance and lack some of the most basic and important EV features.
Toyota have announced that their next generation BEVs in 2025 will use NCMA pouch cells from LG. In 2025, these cars will be competing with LFP and LMFP batteries which are much cheaper, more durable, and safer.
The companies that lose the most customers to Tesla are Honda and Toyota. The world's largest auto markets are at around 25% BEV and growing, while Toyota is at less than 1%.
Soon the Japanese brands will see Chinese companies moving into the many smaller developing countries with low cost EVs. BYD and SAIC are about to eat their lunch.
I hope Toyota can develop good, competitive, affordable EVs before 2028; and I hope this helps the company stay healthy. But I don't know if this will happen.

@@davidmenasco5743US BEV adoption is only 10-13%.
Q3 2023. Toyota leads the market once again.
87-90% of the market are buying ICE/Hybrids/PHEV.
You should also look into Toyota + Idemitsu solid-state battery mass production strategy by 2027.
Also, countries like India and ASEAN have very poor infrastructure. BEV adoption will take much longer in those countries. ASEAN (2%) bev adoption.
Suzuki also owns 40-50% market share in India and the infrastructure is no where close for BEV adiption.
Also, EU might put tarriffs on Chinese cars. Americans won't be buying any Chinese cars this decade with all the Anti-Chinese sentiment here.
Toyota will launch solid-state batteries before China penetrates US or INDIA.
Europe was never Japanese cars go to export market to begin with. Their market is mostly dominated by German, and French brands.
Also, Toyota was #3 in Chinese market Q3 2023....

@@davidmenasco5743Geopolitics will be the biggest barrier for Chinese car brands to enter the US.
With Ukraine, Israel and a potential Taiwan conflict or South China Sea conflict, it will be a huge barrier for BYD to get access to the US market.
Why did Warren Buffet, Black Rock shift semiconductor investments out of Taiwan? And into Japan??
TSMC's founder even said due to gepolitics, their future is bleak for TSMC. Canon recently unveiled a competing product to ASML for making 5nm to 2nm chips.
Rapidus will also compete with TSMC and in 2nm semiconductors ready for approx. 2026. The factories are already being built.
China is US' biggest strategic competitor. Japan is currently making a China-free EV supply chain. Yes, taking a while, but it's strategically genius.

Watching this 5 months later this is very funny / ridiculous. EVs are a niche product not competitive with Hybrids.

Toyota is not an innovator but a follower. They are trying to catch up from way behind.
You are showing what Tesla is doing now, where are all the Toyota Plants at? They don't
    even have an EV line.

How many years before Toyota actually builds cars using this gigapress technology?
All Tesla Model Y already use it.
