I have Ménière’s disease also. I used to sing in church, weddings, funerals~ now I don’t sing. God bless you. This is a debilitating disease. I pray that you don’t go through the awful symptoms that I fight with. Thank you for your many years of your great music.
tonya oakman My prayers are with you. I’m so sorry and heartbroken for you not being able to sing anymore. Would you ever consider playing a musical instrument that may bring you an alternative level of happiness and joy as singing once did? My prayers are with you to be without symptoms and that you someday sing again. 😔
@anders damin My poor dad had it ever so badly, and would have to be rushed by ambulance to ER, with such severe vertigo, vomiting & distress. The spells are accompanied by loud tinnitus roaring noise in your head, and hearing loss. My last episode lasted 13 days. :p
MadriFilmArt I’m so sorry you have this horrible condition. I will pray for you each evening. I’m sorry that your beloved Das has or had this horrible disease too. I’m so heartbroken for your beloved Dad. Please know you are in my prayers. I’m so sorry. 😔
Thanks Jimmie for not interrupting and letting Huey share his stories. Huey is such a talent musician and I was lucky to see him a few years ago. Sorry to hear about his hearing loss. Huey should have his own pod cast or late night show ❤️from🇨🇦
Huey was my absolute favorite in the 80’s/90’s. Saw him live many times. Was so sorry to hear of his disease. This was a great interview and so great to see him. He looks fantastic!
As a Meniere's sufferer as well, with the ringing and hearing loss in my left ear. What Huey didn't tell you are the bouts of vertigo, with a constant brain fogginess. I've played music off and on for 50 yrs, it's very demanding on the senses, especially singing. All the best to you Huey!!
I was curious about his hearing loss so I hit on video, but man, Huey had me hanging on every word of his stories. what an interesting life he has led.
Something so sweet in this interview. Huey is a fav, sure, but it's more than that. There is often a tangible connection between Jimmy and his guests, I think it's Jimmy's special talent~the way he is able to show his respect, his connection to his guest to bring the audience in~I do love you Jimmy Kimmel.
That was a great story. Huey Lewis is an American icon. I have listened to him since the early '80s. I hope he gets to a point to start playing music again.
Love you Huey!! When This Is It video came out I must’ve watched it hundreds of time... Power of Love... your voice is unreal . So soulful and powerful. Prayers
Ok, I really enjoyed that interview. Really illustrates that successful people just don't recognize limitations in themselves or the circumstances they find themselves in.
Fun Fact: Huey and Kimmel are best friends in real life. They go fishing together. Kimmel has talked about it on his show. We love you Huey and we Americans are so proud of you !! If Huey had a podcast or radio show I would listen to him everyday because he is really great telling stories of his life !!
Love me some Huey Lewis. It was one of those bands that you and your dad could agree on listening to in the car. Brings back good memories of my father who has since passed away
@jessica Accurate! I recall listening to HLATN with my dad, in the car many moons ago. He passed Aug/25/20. We’ll always have heartwarming memories of our daddy’s, cruisin’ to the great’s of the 80’s💚
There is something just so wrong when a man that made such awesome music struggles to even hear it anymore. Lets hope Huey gets blessed by some medical advancements that get him back to top shape. He certainely is deserving after all the musical gifts he gave us.
This was the best interview I’ve seen in a long time. The celebrity was really authentic as a person and I enjoyed every minute and every story he shared. Heuy Lewis is still the cutest thing since his own surprise birthday party. Wow. This was time well spent. Thank you Jimmy. ❤️

My father and best friend’s girlfriend have Ménière’s disease too, and it comes and goes, but when it comes on badly, it can be incapacitating for days or even weeks at a time. My thoughts and prayers are with Huey, cuz I feel for him, and I’m sure it bothers him much more than he’s letting on. It’s so unfortunate that this has happened to such a talented musician.
Oh my gosh. I’ve been a fan of Huey Lewis since I was in my very early teens. What a really nice guy. Great sense of humour and a very compelling storyteller. I could listen to him telling of his music and his adventures around the world. Respect ✊
I saw Huey Lewis and the News back in 2006 at Saratoga, NY. Fabulous show. Loved Huey then; still love him now. I thought he was a riot in Hot in Cleveland too. A truly versatile and gorgeous man. ❤❤❤
Huey Lewis and the News concert back in 1985 at Riverbend in Cincinnati, OH. was my husband's and my first date. Thirty-five years later, we still love them as much as we did back then. They really stood the test of time. I hate to hear Huey may have to give it up. Thanks for all the great music through the years.
Saw Huey in Toronto back in 1988 and what an incredible concert it was. He just rocked the place all night - and I think it was the most fun I ever had at a concert. His fabulous voice was equally matched by his fabulous warm personality....and what a treat it was to see that handsome man giving the audience his all. He was really there in the moment with the audience and looked like he was having as much fun as the rest of us. Love you Huey and your amazing band! Wishing you a miracle cure so you can continue to enjoy life as you should.
Great guy, I've seen his show twice, many years apart. First time he was not as big and it was in a big club in NM. My BF at the time bore a resemblance and at the break he came over and said, "Hey, you're a good looking guy". My BF said, "Yeah, but I can't sing." We bought him a beer. Second time, 30 years later, still rocked hard.
So sorry about the hearing problem Huey. Been going through that myself, but not to that degree yet. Regardless your legacy as it is is fantastic. Sports is a masterpiece and you have many other great songs ,many considered genius by other musicians.. So dont stress you'll be fine as is, and if you can make more music all the better. That's just gravy. Been a fan since before you were "big". Saw you open for Queen once. That was unusual but cool. Nothing that you'll ever do will take away those great memories or diminish my admiration for your musicianship. What cha gonna do, anyway?
That Spanish band , Tiempos Nuevos , was at the origin of a whole generation of bands that became quite big in Spain . They were known as the Andalusian Rock movement. Remarkable story . Best of luck to the great Huey Lewis !
I was in an all original band in 1976 in San Jose California. The lead singer/songwriter and his brother, the drummer, didn't think much of cover bands. The bass player wanted us to go to a local bar and see what the competition was like. We went to a bar called "The Wooden Nickel" near Santa Clara University. The band playing was pretty good and I was impressed, they were tight and the front man was really good. They played all cover songs. After the show I told the guys in my band that we should do some cover songs. The lead singer in our band said "Those guys will never make it, they don't do any original stuff". The band we saw that night was named "Clover".
I like that he's "dealing with it!" With his humor still intact! Not enough credit goes to people with this kind of attitude to 'unseen' disabilities. By the way Jacob's Ladder (the 2014 video) is as Huey sounding as his latest - Her Love is Killin' Me! LOL! "Cause' youve never drunkenly driven into a levy before - sort of thing you learn" Very funny!
So underrated!! I stole my step dad’s cassette of Sports when it came out and wore it out every morning on the way to school and now my kids and I listen to it on the way to their school! All kids should hear The News!
That Europe story was actually fascinating. I'd love to hear more about it. I thought Jimmy was going to show a film clip from that actual concert! (That would have been amazing)
Huey looks so young today that I wonder if he really was around already in 1968... What a wonderful guy! I like him even more now than in the 1980s. Thank you for this great video. Also my very best wishes to Huey!
The coolest story on a talk show and now the coolest cat on a talk show... wow.. Huey is someone I'd love to meet and just sit down and hear those amazing stories cuz I'm sure he's got lots of them. Thank you. So inspiring.
One of Jimmy’s best interviews. Coincidentally, I Also hitchhiked down to Morocco in’68. On the way back after a very stoned time on a roof on Tangier I managed to get a lift from Barcelona to London which include a flight in an air car ferry from France to southern UK. Magic.
This hurts my feelings. I love Huey Lewis! I love listening to him sing. Such a beautiful, deep, kinda raspy voice. I'm glad he's well in mind though. ❤❤❤
Awesome road story - brought a much needed smile 🙂 I hitched and drove an old VW around the US in the 70's, in pursuit of bluegrass music. Worked odd jobs and played tunes for gas money. Not quite as successful as Huey, but still lots of fun. One of my greatest successes was making $50 in this crazy college bar in Stillwater, playing on the band's break...still remember it fondly! Also once entered this contest and played in front of 10,000 people. Still gives me a thrill! Got to try it on for size, anyway. Good luck to Huey with his new endeavor 🍀
Back in the day I went to San Fran to Candlestick park to see a baseball game. When it was time for the National Anthem to be preformed it was sung by Huey Lewis Jerry Garcia and Tony Bennett. I do not remember the game but have never forgotten that anthem. All others pail in comparison.
I've suffered with menieres disease for over 40 years. I wish he had not made it look so easy to get through, most of us surfer on a daily basis with dizziness and uncontrollable vomiting, My left ear has hyper hearing, I cannot use a water faucet or be around anything loud. Some days I have to stay in the basement with pillows wrapped around my head when the birds are singing. I can truly say I'm glad he only has the hearing loss, though that is one of my biggest fears... music is my life.
I remember seeing this when it was on. I saw HLN several times. He was so full of energy. I wish it could stamilize enough to preform again. Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember Huey on here again. Love all the clips I see of clover on Utube
I worked with Huey's daughter at a restaurant in San Rafael California a long time ago, she was so nice and down to earth. I thought it was really cool that even though he didn't have to he had his child be responsible through employment. Oh, I've got some tea about that time at the restaurant: I waited on George Lucas and his kid was a brat, haha. He tipped 20%, which is totally appropriate but not that exciting 😂

Lillian Reardon ....this is proof Lillian that the most interesting people learned from life😃👍🏾
I think he could oblige. :)
Me too!♥️
A shame Jimmy Kimmel told half of 'em.
Same Ray Manzarek was a good story teller too.
Such a crappy thing to happen to such a great musician. Huey is a class act. A true talent.
and phil collins lost his hearing too, sadly
The news was my first favorite band. I hope he can get something figured out for his hearing.
Jimmy Kimmel you should get him to come back. that was so Interesting. The stories he could tell us
His interview on Marc Maron's WTF podcast is really good and full of stories.
I get the impression Jimmy wanted to tell 'em all

I just love Huey..Had many hit's in the 80's. Yes it's true(Yes it's true) i'm so happy too be stuck with you.

I read that they are close friends and fishing buddies.
I miss this guy singing. It brings me back to the good old days.
Huey Lewis not only has great "no kidding, that happened" stories, but he also has the pleasantly gravelly voice with which to tell them.
One of the great rock and roll voices of my generation. Should be in the R-N-R hall of fame
Yes Dan M
