I'm continuing to pray for Raul during his battle with cancer I Love you and all the guys in the band yawl are awesome and so amazing❤❤thank you guys so much for all the fantastic and beautiful music yawl put out❤❤❤❤❤
I interviewed Raul Malo and Eddie Perez live on the radio here in Australia in 2002 when I was doing PM Drive on 105.7 The River FM. They did What A Crying Shame in the studio, because they're both of Cuba, I joked with Raul and asked; "Where's my box of Cuban cigars you promised?" He laughed his head off. LOL. Nice guys and a good interview. :-)
Raul Malo has the most amazing voice. Definitely there is no lip syncing here. And that drum beat at the start is fabulous. Great drumming throughout! I could play this till my ears bleed. :-)
My fondest memory of this song is when me and my brother were doing karaoke in a bar, and we had about 100 people singing the last refrain of this song with us. It was awesome.
Johnny Walker bbc radio 2 ( best radio presenter ever ) played this while I was on my way home from work one day never heard it before thougnt it was just fantastic a d still do . Was lucky enough to see the Mavericks in Ipswich z while later fantastic night !!!!! Thanks guys and thanks Johnny Walker ( his autobiography is well worth the read ) Rob ❤
I heard this song for the first time today when my wife was listening to a pandora station and it immediately drew me in. Freaking love it! This live performance is just as good as the studio recording, it’s perfect!
A really good friend of mine that died 3 yrs ago , we would listen 2 this song every time we hung out.. God I miss him RIP Junior Ill ALWAYS love you, love Jess
Great song!!! I wish these guys were still around. I'm not a country fan, but I'm always up for The Mavericks, Mike Ness, and any band Gram Parsons was in.
The most beautiful voice I've ever heard. This one's personal for me. Been listening to the album for well over a month. Raul Malo's voice, I am just so glad I've been given the opportunity to have such a passion in beautiful music. Incredible harmony.
country music like this will stand the test of time. maybe not a top 40 band, but truly country at heart nonetheless. the entire album just radiates with simplicity in its best musical form. artists like The Mavericks, Hal Ketchum, George Strait, Vince Gill made records my dad listened to while I was growing up and it caught my attention at a young age. it wasnt until years later I was able to listen back on these albums and really appreciate what good country was. nowadays just like with almost every genre, things seem completely washed out and replicated. this is a nice listen. a good recording and performance of the song (minus the singers bad haircut), and a total trip down memory lane. god bless youtube.
Such a simple song, just three chords over and over again, yet so beautiful, and driving at the same time! Raul Malo just has such a beautiful voice. I could listen to this over and over again.
Dam, I used to listen to this group back in the 80's or 90's. I got away from listening to country music. I saw a link to this group and it just brought back amazing memories of this amazing group with an amazing lead singer in Raul Malo. Thank you.
I was the program director of a country music station back in 1993. I accidentally hit the wrong track of a CD and played "What a Cryin' Shame by mistake. The phones lit up. Six months later in Nashville I met Raul and told him the story. He laughed his ass off and whipped out a bottle of tequila. We got hammered that night and I'm here to tell you, he's as great a guy as you'd want him to be.
Damn...Raul doesn't know how to sing a wrong note. I love that they actually pull off the vocal harmonies live too. Very impressive, i really hope I can see these guys live someday
Saw the Mavericks last night at Homestead Carnegie Library, they did this one. One of the 3 best shows I've ever seen.Played nearly 3 hours to a sell out crowd.
They are freaking awsome!! I have always loved them! I get to see them 7/20 and so excited! I am taking my binoculars even if i am sitting 5 rows back dead center"!"
Oh my goodness, just a little over two months past my 30th birthday. But I loved this song; still do. This is what I was listening to. I now look back at that 30-year-old and think of him as young😌.
I lov these tune...with oh so beauty memories with tears in my eyes....memorie to GUDRUN von BUCKEN 59 years old ..R.I.P...21 /07 / 2013...TNXS, for posting....
Raul Malo is incomparable…just wonderful. And how fantastic to see Eddie Perez on lead guitar and harmony vocals…just starting out his Mavericks career, and still going strong today. Interesting to compare how restrained Eddie is on here, compared with his unique rock god stage movement just a very few years later…and still now! Love Eddie!
I be 3 steppin like a mug to this one. Great song. Miss the 90's country. Hope it has a revival soon, cuz the crap comin out of Nashville these days is lame.
and jerry dale mcfaden with them but the lead guitarist isnt it is studio musican and dwight yokam front lead guitarist eddie perz but this band is what got my started in listening to country music so thanks for put this up.
I love how his voice doesn't change wether it's live or studio recorded
It's usually better live than in the studio.
@@davidbyerly9846 Definitely this is better than studio! I know every note on this song, and Raul has enhanced his singing all the way through.
I remember when this song came out in the mid 90's. It is still pretty awesome to hear this one again!
Totally agree ! 🤗👍
He is the best. I love this group.
I'm continuing to pray for Raul during his battle with cancer I Love you and all the guys in the band yawl are awesome and so amazing❤❤thank you guys so much for all the fantastic and beautiful music yawl put out❤❤❤❤❤
He has my prayers.
The man was born to sing

Pound for pound, country's greatest voice.

Such a FLAWLESS band! Rauls voice is golden!
Raul you have one of a kind smile and your deep feel music

+Jessica Morton If you don't mind, ma'am, I'm going to listen to this song again and drink one for your buddy, Junior. God bless ya, honey.
+Robby Davidson Just read your post Robby, and thought what a great idea you had. So nice of you. Love and hugs to Jessica too. Sad loss.
Great song!!! I wish these guys were still around. I'm not a country fan, but I'm always up for The Mavericks, Mike Ness, and any band Gram Parsons was in.

Raul and the guys nailed it in this performance!

+Glen W. Ford Uh.....yup. G, D, and, C.
Three chords and the truth... oh what a cryin shame.
The bridge is in "A" 4 chords
Just wonderful -- Raul changed some of the notes, and it's even more perfect than it was originally! Thanks for posting it!
Love this song! Love this band! Saw them live in Austin and it was a religious experience.
I listened this song for the first time in Country Music Fan Fair 94, miss those times

Reminiscent of Roy Orbison...lovely vocals, saw them last year and they were terrific!
I was thinking that yesterday...
So nice to see Robert playing bass and looking pretty clean.
First fell in love with the hair. Fell in love with the music. Fell in love with the man.
Thanks Raul for the joy!
Never gets old.
Raul's voice is such a vibe . Eddie Perez did such a great job with the guitar . I can listen to this song all day 🎸🎶

Love to hear this band!
My good buddy and I purchased this album when it first came out and would replay it over and over until we realized we had to be at work in 3hr's.
Just as AMAZING as 20 years ago, what a true talent filled group
wonderful song
Country, rock,punk...no matter..Raul and Roy..the 2 greatest voices ever.
I HOPE you mean Roy Orbison! I've never heard anybody acknowledge this to me, but I think Raul Malo sounds JUST LIKE Roy Orbison.
Sounds like a real live Texas band. From any part panhandle to gulf!!
What a great band!!! One of my all-time favorites!!
Saw the Mavericks last night at Homestead Carnegie Library, they did this one.
One of the 3 best shows I've ever seen.Played nearly 3 hours to a sell out crowd.

Aug 22, 1994 - The Mavericks grab their first gold album, for "What A Crying Shame"
Oh my goodness, just a little over two months past my 30th birthday. But I loved this song; still do. This is what I was listening to. I now look back at that 30-year-old and think of him as young😌.
I just discovered this song in Spain and I listen to it a lot I love it makes us escape
This is the song that put them in the BIG LEAUGE!great band got to see them once,go and see them if they come to your city!!!,
Fantastic sound! Incredible that this is LIVE - what an amazing band they were!
Raul Malo's vibrato vocal carries this. So reminiscent of Roy Orbison, yet twangs like REM or Foster and Lloyd.
Well put! They make some very Orbison-sounding music, and it crosses all kinds of genres, rather than being just thought of as country.
Each video I find of this song is better than the last --- like this one the best. Great music, beautiful song.
Oh, what a crying shame I only just found you guys. Thank you for your tunes!!
Love this band!!!❤
Just saw them...awesome,I have been listening to them for years!
Great band!!!!!!
On my bucket list...will miss them in Huber Hts., Ohio...are they playing at Red Rocks, Co?? Anybody??? I'll pay!
I lov these tune...with oh so beauty memories with tears in my eyes....memorie to GUDRUN von BUCKEN 59 years old ..R.I.P...21 /07 / 2013...TNXS, for posting....
Man I love this song!! Only idiots voted no. The Mavericks eventually reunited. This is NOT lip sinc. And damn sure no auto tune.!
agreed!
Raul wouldn't allow auto tune, I don't think. Reba even only uses a little bit of it, but probably knows she don't need it.
Rauls..the real deal
I really like Raul and the Mavericks.
Great voice...sweet guy too....
i grew up on this song and the other old songs frm the past... wish they would bring them back
raul and the guys are amazing.
A favorite of mine by my favorite group
Raul Malo is incomparable…just wonderful. And how fantastic to see Eddie Perez on lead guitar and harmony vocals…just starting out his Mavericks career, and still going strong today.
Interesting to compare how restrained Eddie is on here, compared with his unique rock god stage movement just a very few years later…and still now! Love Eddie!

Orbison, Pretty Woman, Blue Bayou, and the group Traveling Wilburys.

Raul Malo and Mavericks are one of a kind. AWESOME VID.
"What A Crying Shame" is one of my favorite 1-5-4s in the Key of G! (Yes they also play 2 in the bridge)
