I saw the Mavericks back in 1994 at the House of Blues, Los Angeles!! What a great concert!! I was front and center, singing along with Raul every song! (I had NO VOICE the next day)🤣 I've never had such a fantastic time in my life!! They were all wonderful!💜

How could a one in a million voice be unknown too so many people? For me personally I will admit their music has gotten a bit stale (and I will say they are my favorite band and seen them plenty of times), too much horns and accordions. Even at the concerts the biggest reactions are when it's just Raul and his guitar which for the most part are covers of other people's songs. I would love to hear some stripped down Mavericks...

First time I saw them I was about 12...they played Houston livestock show and rodeo in 93...they're just as good live as they are on record...I used to play them a lot rolling down highway Michigan in Baghdad...absolutely brilliant singers and songwriters...love this band...Oscar Mike

The first I heard Raul. Marilyn and I had just met. We were making love on her couch and I couldn't believe there was a voice like that and I didn't know who it belonged too! We were falling in love but a few weeks later my ex called and tearfully told me she had made a terrible error moving away! I dumped beautiful sweet Marilyn. I was 59 & Marilyn was 54. The guy who met her next moved in and ultimately murdered her. So ofter I think of her. Raul was her favorite and he is mine also. I have been to 6 Andrea Bocelli concerts and 9 Josh Groban concerts! So very many great vocalists. Raul is my favorite.
Just by listening to the way he sings, u could tell he had to go above and beyond to perfect his voice. And he's lucky he's light skinned. If he was dark like me he wouldn't have succeeded back then, now maybe. And he was smart to have a white band.
