ABOUT MARION
Marion Grasby is a food producer, television presenter and cookbook author who's had a life-long love affair with Asian food.
Marion is a little bit Thai (courtesy of her mum) and a little bit Australian (courtesy of her dad).
Marion lives in Bangkok, Thailand and travels throughout Asia to find the most unique and delicious Asian food recipes, dishes and ingredients.
I just love watching you cook. Not only are you beautiful to look at with a pleasant voice to listen to, but you are so knowledgeable and precise with your advice and presentation, that I instantly want to try out your recipes. You are so blessed to have a mum who you could learn from. I was raised in a very traditional Australian home with a mum who found cooking a chore so we ate mostly ordinary cuisine. I have spent my life learning how to cook and I just love cuisine from different cultures, Asian being my fav. Thank you and your Mum. Warmly Bernardette
From Minneapolis MN US:
Loved this recipe.
This is how I cooked it:
Cook skin side down at 375 for 30min, flip and use base sauce with skin side up, then cook another 20min. It may look dark like it's burning, but it's not! Just watch your chicken carefully.
I cooked it longer because our chicken thighs were a bit bigger.
Enjoy!
Agree. 15 mins isn't long enough for any chicken thigh. In my opinion.
That makes sense. 15 minutes in the oven doesn’t work
Stacy you saved the day!!! Just made it following your instructions. Perfectly cooked, juicy, yum. Thank you
Hi Marion. As a struggling homecook, this recipe has gained my picky dad's approval! He requests it once or twice a week now. I learned to have smaller chicken pieces and placing the tray at the lowest notch so it won't burn the skin & sugar that much, which can be bitter. Grilling burns the skin faster than it cooks the inner parts, so no grilling for me. I also add Chili pepper flakes for an extra pow!
You’re so calm. I feel like I’m learning how to cook chicken but also I am meditating. Namaste.
MARION... The recipe is a success. My husband loved it and even my 7 year old picky son tried it too and he liked it. Love it!
Tried this for my lunch today.. it was so good! And so easy to cook! You can prep the chicken before hand keep it in freezer and pop it in the oven when you want to eat it.. deffinetly going to cook it again!
Omg my roomie made this for me the other night and holy smokes it’s become a new favourite! Marion you’re always killing it 💚💚💚💚
Really?
Wow! It looks super easy, perfect for really hectic days. You can pop it in the oven as soon as you get in the house and by the time you’re all freshen up, relaxed a bit, and set the table - you have yourself a decent home cooked dinner! 🤗
Hi. I tried this recipe yesterday for my niece and nephew and they LOVED it! It was a bit of a challenge for me since I don't own an oven but I do have those little toaster ovens found in the Philippines. The skin is a little burnt around the edges but over all, it was very good 😊 will definitely make this again next week. 10-15 mins is actually sufficient to cook the chicken or the kids would have complained about it being raw. Thanks again for sharing this recipe. I will try the other recipes 😊😊😊
I think 15 min not enough it will be raw.at least 30 min.but marion want make sticky chicken she want still juicy inside.if we looking roasted crispy it gonna be different way
Cant wait to try this one also.👍
@@noelisworo7039 I think it's not enough either, I'd say double to be on the safe side. It would be fine for frying but not oven cooking
I made this and it came out great, Added a Tbs of Chili Bean Paste for some heat and works well in this sauce. I have also become quiet fond of Chinese broccoli, nice mild flavor. Thank you Marion!
Marion has this effortless chic/chill vibe that is smart & inviting. I find her channel refreshing from the music to the decor. Her recipes are simple yet eloquent. I don't subscribe to channels but this one captured me; insta-sub for sure. Much love from Seattle ❤️
Dayna Sakanashi How kind of you to write such a thoughtful comment Dayna ❤️ I love being able to make people happy with my videos and recipes. Thank you so much.
I made this for dinner tonight and it was delicious. Although I ask my sister to buy me boneless chicken thighs with skin on, she got the chicken without skin. Still came out so moist and delicious. This is a keeper.
Made this for lunch and whole house smell amazing from the five spices. I didnt have hoisin sauce and i don't think i will use it again so i did some research and found out that soybean paste and kicap manis are good substitute for hoisin sauce! I used my thai brand soybean paste but I think miso will also work. I cooked my chicken in frying pan since I'm using oven for cheesecake. I didnt need to make another basting sauce since I'm using frying pan and I simply use all the delicious extra marinade in my bowl
At this point, I have no doubt every Australian is a culinary genius.
This recipe is so simple yet so flavorful!
Dear Marion, i have tried this recipe and i love it sooo much ❤❤❤ thank you 🤗
Exceptional. Job well done Marion. Presentation is 150% spot on, A+. If we're honest, this is simply divine.
LUSCIOUS at its peak, your cameraguy/gal does wonders
She has a relaxing voice this video is super chill 👍and the food looks great.
Making this tomorrow, got the chicken thighs marinating.
The only thing I changed was the addition of orange peel, rice wine, white pepper and just a little ground cayenne.
Gai lan is one of my favorite things but I have to drive to get it and you don't know what quality it will be when I get there so I'm using overpriced baby broccoli stir fried with mushroom.
So good with steamed rice, one of my go to meals for sure.
Marion warm greetings from Ireland, thank you for your time energy and cooking tips💚
Looks really good and so professional. Steam veg is also easily done and healthy
This reminds me of char siu. Quit eating pork years ago and chicken thigh is a great substitute. Will have to give this a try. Thank you Marion!
Half a tablespoon of sesame oil in the greens would give a great aroma and taste
Or toasted and sprinkled over the chicken before cutting.....
It’s already had five-spices, why adding sesame oil, cause it does break the fragrance?
TheKn1sh ....and crispy fried garlic too!😋
@@Onew92 she/he said in the greens not in the chicken
Really! Going to give it a try. Thanks

I love ❤️ all your recipes Marion
She and her mama are my to go to for daily cooking
Going to cook this tonight 😍😍😍🤗
Made this. Website says 180C/356F (fan forced). I assumed convection oven. Didn’t specify top or middle rack so I chose middle rack 10 then 5 min and the thighs (pretty big) were still raw. I moved it to top rack another 8 min. and internal temp was only 138deg. Finally, I cut chicken in chunks and finished on the stovetop. Really delicious restaurant quality but needs clarification is “fan forced” a convection oven? Top or middle rack? 15 minutes seems too short. Should it be 375F degrees for much longer? Also, spray rack with cooking spray=super easy cleanup!
Looks amazing. I'm hoping to incorporate this recipe into the garlic noodles to get some San Francisco vibes back in my life. Thanks!

Love it keep it up looks very tasty 😋
This is positively delicious!!! However, is it just me that baked this thing for about an hour???
There’s no way my chicken was done in 10 min + 5 min on 365F! 🤷🏻♀️
Exactly! I couldn’t understand that part. I was looking through the comments just to find out if I was the only person concerned about the 15 minute cooking time
Hello Marion, I’ll love to know what are your most recommended Asian spices that you use on everyday cooking. Please and thank you. I love your channel and your mom is special
