Sevika, the woman Vi fought this episode, has some amazing lines throughout the whole show. She doesn't talk as often as the other main characters but when she does she always says SOMETHING. And I love it
she should be important in s2. Can't wait to see more of her. Honestly her design when fighting is so cool I think Riot might make her into champion in game
I'm intrigued as to how she'll develop. She shows self control (dealing with Jinx for years without snapping), cunning (pulling that ace move we all know is coming later), but also a internal sense of honor. True, she turned against Vander, but she made her displeasure known out in the open, taking her droogs with her in a clear signal of "we aren't working with you anymore" before formally switching sides. Later on she displays a sense of honor when she allows her opponent a drink break in the middle of what could be a life-or-death fight. She might be brutal, but she's measured, deliberate, and focused.
Same. I get so mad when other reactors cut it out. The genuine surprise on his face and in his voice is perfect. It's then you realize for the first time that he legitimately thought she was dead.

Remember Silco has now had Powder/Jinx for seven years. Her entire adolescence. There’s a real bond there that has developed through stages and it’s mutual. Notice Jinx has made little gifts for him and you can see them scattered about. Attention to detail here is insane.

I think the only healthy sibling bonds I've seen you react to are Katara and Sokka and Mako and Bolin haha. I knew you'd love Vi and Cate from the beginning and you can clearly see how Jinx/Powder's mental health is getting worse each episode.

to be fair at least in those 7 years Jinx had Silco (even though he’s literally the worst person to be around her) but Vi had no one and was beaten everyday and living with the guilt of what happened with Powder, Mylo, Claggor and Vander
The difference is mindset; for Vi their parents, Vander, Mylo and Claggor are all good memories and a source of strength… for her sister is the opposite - losing her parents at the bridge caused the attachment issues and their found family dying by her hand ultimately broke the girl beyond repair and it all became a terrible memory. In the end Vi was physically hurt but the mental damage on Jinx is older and runs deeper.
@@biazacha this is true !!! But then again we have no true insight into what Vi is going through mentally, the trauma definitely affected them differently though !! I personally believe she is constantly dealing with the guilt of how everything panned out because she puts a lot of pressure on herself responsibility wise but hopefully we’ll get a look into her mental state in the next season !

He(Marcus) put her in prison so that Silco wouldn't find and kill her. Prison was probably the only safe place for Vi without Vander around. Vi did give the toy to Powder before going to turn herself in episode 2. Vander saw Powder with that toy, looking sad, and that's how he realised what Vi was about to do. Hence he was able to find her before the enforcers did.
yeah you are right. But I don't see how I'm wrong. From Marcus's perspective staying alive is better than getting killed so he was doing her a favor. "He will kill you if he hears you". He could have simply taken her without saying a word. But that line humanized him a bit. The story intentionally did that so that we can read into his actions later on from a different perspective, adding another layer to his character. That doesn't negate his other, more important reasons. (Of course his daughter's safety is his priority and he would do anything to ensure that) But that's my interpretation.

He almost killed Caitlyn for his daughter but that doesn't mean he wanted to. Having a priority doesn't erase other values of his character. (the point I was trying to make btw) It's still unclear why Vi was thrown in prison for. "The city needs someone behind the bars to make an example of" and "There is no record of you or your crimes" doesn't make much sense. So that's ambiguous territory. You are free to have your interpretation but those are not facts. But it is implied that Silco helped Marcus climb in rank. You keep saying marcus is as simple as that but you haven't given any real arguments which disprove what I have. So I guess we stick with our interpretations.
That toy that was hanging, Vi recovered that toy and gave it to Powder in episod 2 right before she wanted to gave herself up. Thats why Powder has it :)
Vi's rabbit toy was literally in the scene where Jinx ran away at the end, on the floor. It's the last thing you see in that scene. Vi gave it to her near the end of episode 2 before she was about to let the enforcers take her. Also I wouldn't suggest trying to guess what it going to happen. Just let the show do it's thing, and feel the moments as they come and go. In my opinion it's a great way to see the show.
I've been kinda obsessed with the show after I watched it (the first time), and have been checking a lot of reaction videos (A LOT). Your insights, feels, discussions, emotions are by far the best.
Absolutely loved this. Reactions and discussion, top tier. Though I'd like to mention something about how you said Jinx trauma is worse. No spoilers dont worry just stuff from past episodes. Powder has alot of it yes but it only seems worse because it shows more. Equal trauma. Vi was the same age Powder was when she saw her parents die on the bridge, I dont think Powder was old enough to truly comprehend that, its why you see her look at Vi and only get sad really because Vi is sad. After that Vi had to grow up fast to take care of Powder, everything was on her. Just like Vander said in episode 1, they all looked up to her so whatever they do is on her and even though Powder carries the guilt of killing her friends and father figure Vi blames herself not only for their deaths because she believes its all her fault again but she also feels guilty about how she left Powder (she never did abandon her, she realised she was too emotional to talk properly so she left to cool off, totally legit considering what just happened and the fact that she was still only about 15? but as soon as she saw Powder was in danger she rushed back but was stopped) as well as not being there for her all those years whatever may have happened (you'll see in later episodes). Not just that but when the warden talks about "chats" he is talking about the nearly every day beatings she got (with that metal rod mind you), she was a problem child for the prison, just before Cait opens the cell you can see her breathing change, she was scared because she knew what was coming, conditioned to it. Imagine that for 7 years, from when you were 15 years old, like come on. Jinx at least had Silco to take care of her, she killed alot of people and had alot of mental issues, ptsd and had that murderous instinct nurtured by Silco, she was at least taken care of by someone, cared for despite his methods being fucked up. Vi was all alone, in prison, from 15, getting daily beatings, blaming herself for everything that happened. And she still has no time to process it all as she just wants to find her sister, its still all on her shoulders to take care of everything, so much pressure from such a younger age and she just puts up a good face. But as you saw with the Sevika fight she is impulsive and doesn't think before she acts and just lashes out from emotion. For her there are two options, fight or run away. And you already see that pattern emerge with that. If she can't fight it she will run from it, mostly in terms of stressful or emotional situations. For her if she isn't strong enough to face something, she isn't good enough, she failed, its her fault. So yes she doesn't show her trauma but its there all bottled up tightly. But I do agree, help all the baby girls, they all need therapy.
I'm so excited to watch you react to the next episodes of the series, your conclutions and apreciation of details are gold, well... You should hold hard yo your seat the next episodes, because episodes 4 and 5 were a half/time of intensity to show the audience what are the general changes/progress/descent of the characters, here we go 🤠
I am LOVING your reactions. You girls immediately understood the fact that Powder became Jinx after spending 6 years under Silco's "tutelage", and that he is the main responsible (along with the social inequality of the city) for Jinx's existence. There is a big part of the fandom that considers that Silco "is a great father" and they don't take that into account. And I couldn't help but notice that they get very emotional as the chapters go on. Brace yourselves because it's going to get tougher XD. Arcane looks like a sci-fi/fantasy series but it's actually a very elaborate drama/tragedy. Another fact for you to keep in mind: there is a theory that the crows that appear throughout the series represent "the Powder part" within Jinx. Stay alert because the crows will appear in other occasions and it will be relevant to understand a little of what is going on in Jinx's psyche. (There are theories that relate the crows with other 2 characters of the game, but the first one is impossible chronologically and the second one could be viable in the future, but that doesn't deny what I said above).
The tattoo on Vi's cheek is the Roman numeral 6. It's also VI. This show is built recurring duality. One thing being mirrored in another. That's just one of the more inconsequential examples.
Read somewhere also that since that is usually where prisoners tattoo teardrops if they have killed or lost someone, so it being the number 6 is the amout of people she lost, Mom, Dad, Vander, Mylor, Claggor, Powder.
interesting take on the importance of the relationship between silco and jinx. couple of small points: vi gave powder her old toy that was hanging above the street in episode 2. you see it among jinx’s belongings in this episode. (powder was carrying it in episode 3 and was in her hands when she was “floating” in the air after the explosion). the roman numerical vi on vi’s cheek is her name and i believe is a reference to her prison number (516).

I felt sick to my stomach the first few times they showed jinx. but in the end i realized i was acting like vi, trying to make her into something she no longer is, instead of accepting her for who she is, like silco
I wanted to point out the wonderful complexity of the characters of this story. Silco is the villain but his action are certainly understandable. Jayce is the hero but his action are sometimes questionable.
i think powder is now the same age as vi was in the first act (15 or 16). i think that makes the fact that she competed against vi on the boxing machine hit different. (“only that you were twice the person at half my age; you heard them”[powder s1, ep1])
Those who know the lore watching Lola with hope, 28:36, it feels bad man. Worst, this season, even with all of her mind problems, jinx is still somewhat sane.

Vi did give the toy to Powder before going to turn herself in episode 2. Vander saw Powder with that toy, looking sad, and that's how he realised what Vi was about to do. Hence he was able to find her before the enforcers did.
yeah you are right. But I don't see how I'm wrong. From Marcus's perspective staying alive is better than getting killed so he was doing her a favor. "He will kill you if he hears you". He could have simply taken her without saying a word. But that line humanized him a bit. The story intentionally did that so that we can read into his actions later on from a different perspective, adding another layer to his character. That doesn't negate his other, more important reasons. (Of course his daughter's safety is his priority and he would do anything to ensure that)
But that's my interpretation.
It wasn't safe on the fact that she was beaten all the time, but atleast she didn't die I guess.

Plus his daughter wasn’t even alive when that all went down. He took her in to take credit for “capturing” her that’s why he got promoted plus he could stay good w silco by saying he killed her. Yeah daughter wasn't there pre-timeskip and my point still stands. He almost killed Caitlyn for his daughter but that doesn't mean he wanted to. Having a priority doesn't erase other values of his character. (the point I was trying to make btw)
It's still unclear why Vi was thrown in prison for. "The city needs someone behind the bars to make an example of" and "There is no record of you or your crimes" doesn't make much sense. So that's ambiguous territory. You are free to have your interpretation but those are not facts. But it is implied that Silco helped Marcus climb in rank.
You keep saying marcus is as simple as that but you haven't given any real arguments which disprove what I have. So I guess we stick with our interpretations.

That toy that was hanging, Vi recovered that toy and gave it to Powder in episod 2 right before she wanted to gave herself up. Thats why Powder has it :)
Vi's rabbit toy was literally in the scene where Jinx ran away at the end, on the floor. It's the last thing you see in that scene. Vi gave it to her near the end of episode 2 before she was about to let the enforcers take her. Also I wouldn't suggest trying to guess what it going to happen. Just let the show do it's thing, and feel the moments as they come and go. In my opinion it's a great way to see the show.
I've been kinda obsessed with the show after I watched it (the first time), and have been checking a lot of reaction videos (A LOT). Your insights, feels, discussions, emotions are by far the best.

Absolutely loved this. Reactions and discussion, top tier. Though I'd like to mention something about how you said Jinx trauma is worse. No spoilers dont worry just stuff from past episodes. Powder has alot of it yes but it only seems worse because it shows more. Equal trauma.
Vi was the same age Powder was when she saw her parents die on the bridge, I dont think Powder was old enough to truly comprehend that, its why you see her look at Vi and only get sad really because Vi is sad. After that Vi had to grow up fast to take care of Powder, everything was on her. Just like Vander said in episode 1, they all looked up to her so whatever they do is on her and even though Powder carries the guilt of killing her friends and father figure Vi blames herself not only for their deaths because she believes its all her fault again but she also feels guilty about how she left Powder (she never did abandon her, she realised she was too emotional to talk properly so she left to cool off, totally legit considering what just happened and the fact that she was still only about 15? but as soon as she saw Powder was in danger she rushed back but was stopped) as well as not being there for her all those years whatever may have happened (you'll see in later episodes).
Not just that but when the warden talks about "chats" he is talking about the nearly every day beatings she got (with that metal rod mind you), she was a problem child for the prison, just before Cait opens the cell you can see her breathing change, she was scared because she knew what was coming, conditioned to it. Imagine that for 7 years, from when you were 15 years old, like come on. Jinx at least had Silco to take care of her, she killed alot of people and had alot of mental issues, ptsd and had that murderous instinct nurtured by Silco, she was at least taken care of by someone, cared for despite his methods being fucked up. Vi was all alone, in prison, from 15, getting daily beatings, blaming herself for everything that happened.
And she still has no time to process it all as she just wants to find her sister, its still all on her shoulders to take care of everything, so much pressure from such a younger age and she just puts up a good face. But as you saw with the Sevika fight she is impulsive and doesn't think before she acts and just lashes out from emotion.
For her there are two options, fight or run away. And you already see that pattern emerge with that. If she can't fight it she will run from it, mostly in terms of stressful or emotional situations. For her if she isn't strong enough to face something, she isn't good enough, she failed, its her fault. So yes she doesn't show her trauma but its there all bottled up tightly.
But I do agree, help all the baby girls, they all need therapy.
I wish I could go back in time and rewatch this series for the first time again.

I am LOVING your reactions. You girls immediately understood the fact that Powder became Jinx after spending 6 years under Silco's "tutelage", and that he is the main responsible (along with the social inequality of the city) for Jinx's existence. There is a big part of the fandom that considers that Silco "is a great father" and they don't take that into account.
And I couldn't help but notice that they get very emotional as the chapters go on. Brace yourselves because it's going to get tougher XD. Arcane looks like a sci-fi/fantasy series but it's actually a very elaborate drama/tragedy.
Another fact for you to keep in mind: there is a theory that the crows that appear throughout the series represent "the Powder part" within Jinx. Stay alert because the crows will appear in other occasions and it will be relevant to understand a little of what is going on in Jinx's psyche.
(There are theories that relate the crows with other 2 characters of the game, but the first one is impossible chronologically and the second one could be viable in the future, but that doesn't deny what I said above).

The tattoo on Vi's cheek is the Roman numeral 6. It's also VI. This show is built recurring duality. One thing being mirrored in another. That's just one of the more inconsequential examples.
Read somewhere also that since that is usually where prisoners tattoo teardrops if they have killed or lost someone, so it being the number 6 is the amout of people she lost, Mom, Dad, Vander, Mylor, Claggor, Powder.

couple of small points: vi gave powder her old toy that was hanging above the street in episode 2. you see it among jinx’s belongings in this episode. (powder was carrying it in episode 3 and was in her hands when she was “floating” in the air after the explosion).
the roman numerical vi on vi’s cheek is her name and i believe is a reference to her prison number (516).
Excellent that you noticed the parallels between the brothers and the sisters. So many people just wrote off Silco as mustache twirling generic villain until like the last episode.

I wanted to point out the wonderful complexity of the characters of this story. Silco is the villain but his action are certainly understandable. Jayce is the hero but his action are sometimes questionable.
