    You definitely have an affinity for quality older styles! Great diesel find! I got to see a 1950 Studebaker at a car show today. The gentleman had everything spit shined inside and out. I am always amazed when I look into an engine compartment and see so much space on the older vehicles. Looks like you may be able to bolt the bed camper in a lot easier into this truck. It may line right up without any problems.

      Congrats on the F-350, and thank you for the comment. My biggest problem is trying to get everything sorted out quickly; most times, it's financially impossible to do it quickly. If you can hear the window motor operate, but the window won't roll up and down, the plastic gears and inserts are probable mashed up to nothing inside. There are several videos about fixing them on youtube by putting some nuts inside where the inserts were. Cheap fix, I fixed one on my f150 many years ago and it still works.

    Just came across your channel. I've got a bunch of OBS Fords and I'm not far from your neck of the woods. Will keep an eye out for you!
    Regarding your seat - that's a front seat from a crewcab truck so it wasn't made to tilt. You will find it has 2 ashtrays on the back as well for the backseat passengers. Same bolt pattern for the floor pan on both regular and crewcab trucks. I've actually switched out the front to back seats in my crewcab before.

    Talking about boots, i had a pair of Doc martin boots that had the slippy soles like yours, i contacted them and they sent me a new pair of boots made for snow and ice they were great just wish they were insulated better.
    Red wings are great on snow and ice as they have great tread wear too (Vibram soles) Keen are great but the soles wear out quick on normal hard terrain. My timberland so far are tied with red wing as my favorites for ice and snow traction and treadwear. I have also purchased some yaktrax and they are pricless when it comes to ice and snow traction. Just need to find ones that stay on in deep snow

    Evening JMW . I see this was a 6 month old video; but had to say Congrats AGAIN on "stumbling upon" yet another treasure lol. Truck is awesome & I am also shocked the layer of plywood covering every inch of truck bed revealed an extremely well worn metal bed. @Jimmy Meatwhistle - These are extremely rare, my family has an extended cab '94, XLT package, same engine and drivetrain, with 285,000 miles...... factory rating was 190hp/385tq, however if you start digging into the history of the engine, it was actually under-rated and under-valued because of the incoming PowerStroke engines, also with it being a 4x4, your #1 point of failure is the trans. The E4OD/4R100 was only designed to support 1/2-ton F150s, and only having 4 3/8" bolts holding to the torque converter and flywheel, believe me my grandfather had the original trans rebuilt twice, then 3 aftermarket E4OD replacements, all with 3 rebuilds a piece, so my suggestion would be to get a built one with a low-stall converter from Suncoast Transmissions out of Fort Walton Beach, FL or going with a full swap to a modern race-built 6R80 6-speed gas transmission (billet input shaft, HD output shaft, etc) and use a US Shift Quick-6 transmission controller........ as far as the Rearview mirror, its actually too heavy for it to last more than 2 yrs without having to rehang it, would suggest finding a rearview mirror that is lightweight

    • @MustangRacerZX
      @MustangRacerZX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, something really funky............ The pigtail for the auto-dimming rearview mirror is actually tied to the Overdrive sensor for the transmission, via a suicide circuit, otherwise it will violently shift into every gear and not engage the overdrive. Just wanting to warn you

      @@JimmyMeatwhistle unless you put it in 4WD….. that’s typically when we seen the failure, if your truck is like ours, with 4.10 gears, then it will eat the trans in 5-10 mins and start puking fluid….. otherwise you may never see it in 2WD for many years, so don’t be trying to pull out tree stumps until you figure out a comparable solution for a new trans

    So this truck will be hauling your 8' Alaskan truck camper? I love these old trucks, personally I have a 1995 7.3 Powerstroke that's pretty similar to the 1997 460 that you had before. I've done a fair share of research on them even before having mine when I was out in the market for one.
    If you're hauling the camper and want to get gone for a very long time then the stock fuel capacity is a little bit of a concern. Other guys have swapped in a 38 gallon fuel tank that comes from a long bed Super Duty as well as a rear replacement tank for a similar era bronco that I believe can be 36 or maybe another 38 gallons. With that capacity you could really get out and away from civilization in the camper for a real extended period of time.
