Killing floor 1 made the maps feel vast, and making it to the trader each time felt like a risky accomplishment. Each place you held out on a map felt like its own little last stand and a fun challenge (farm comes to mind). Killing floor 2 just literally felt like running in circles until the waves ran out. They covered it up better in the first, and the weapon tier progression felt so much more meaningful in the first.
KF1 was very risky at times as you had to use your knife to run unlike KF2 where they did improve this with all weapons. Even the zeds were dangerous with flesh pounds lol.
Yeah I think it's the atmosphere and the gritty feel of the game. KF1 was more of a horror survival shooter whereas KF2 was more like a polished science horror game. Comparing burning Paris' concept art with the one we got, they look very different and give off a different feel to the game.
@@wezaatzk agreed, also didn't KF1 have like Co-op story or something too? I remember there's one mission where you're going through a bunker while being talked to by some scientist. Or am I thinking of a different game?
The issue for me when it comes to the maps of killing floor2 and killing floor, was that the maps in kf felt Erie to be in than kf2, while kf2 had some good maps don’t get me wrong but it was to clean/sterile were their broken things in the environment? Yes but their weren’t bodies and the some that do don’t feel right.
@@wezaatzk tbf I think they always wanted them to crawl on walls, seeing the Crawler's Teaser for KF2 I just assumed they had to make the deadline and/or it would've taken too many resources to implement than it's worth

Yeah the bloat seemed to be oversimplified over the years, but still looks the same. I do much prefer Han's concept design, he looks more threatening...
Fun fact: the ammo for the medic weapons don't have a plastic case. That is actually the powder hardened to be loadable by itself. Caseless ammunition has been prototyped for a long time but no design has been practical enough to replace cased bullets entirely
@@wezaatzk I always thought the detail to guns in killing floor was so cool, you've probably heard about this already but the guns are fully animated using slow motion firing range footage for reference. I'm sure you could tell whenever you're killing things in zed time lol. Nice video it was cool seeing the art. I never saw it before
Yeah it's unfortunate, but I believe it was due to the limitations of the engine KF2 was on. It was running on unreal engine 3 at the time, but now that Killing Floor 3 is on Unreal engine 5, it gives them more freedom to add new stuff that KF2 never had.
There is only one artbook they released for KF2 that featured all the old concept designs which is why I made this video to showcase those cut game concepts. As for new concept art, It's already in the game, you can see a difference when you play the game. There could have been other Artbooks like this one for KF2 but they haven't published anything else.
We got a release date for monster hunter wilds it's in 5 months and be bad outside for 3 days now people homes be get flood my home is good just lil flood not all bad
I would still give the game a chance, as they have been making changes to the specialist system with the second dev diary. There are still some issues within the game but seems as though they made some changes recently to the specialist system, I should think why they won't change it.
With KF3 they are at least trying to go back to that horror feeling with the atmosphere and the gore, although yes I would much prefer the feeling KF1 gives me rather than the futuristic approach of KF2.
@@n0vez-kLiterally brain dead opinion. If anything kf3 is just kf2 with a face lift. Zed designs are almost identical to kf2 and they changed the movement. If you prefer kf1 for its “gritty atmosphere” (graphical limitations) then that’s absolutely fine. But don’t start pretending kf2 looks better than three.
@@TECH-GOES-2-HECK Killing Floor 3 looks so overwhelmingly generic when compared to Killing Floor 2. The original crawlers looked like spider humanoid hybrids while the new ones look like standard bug monsters. It's fine to prefer the new designs but to say anyone who disagrees is stupid is actually a brain dead take.
@@pilotmender043 They made the crawler look more like a human being in the shape of a spider instead of a sci-fi spider person and it’s infinitely more nightmarish. The clot looks so unimpressively similar to the KF2 clot with the only change being the cybernetic eyes. The only thing that changed about the fleshpound visor is that it glows. If anything, KF2 is where they completely abandoned the aesthetic of KF1 and KF3 is just continuing after KF2.

I remember seeing the Scrake's concept art on one of the wikis only to see the harpoon concept come back in KF3 which is really sick

When Killing Floor 1 was all about "Gory British Dosh Clone Apocalypse" it was fine.

In some ways yes, and in some ways no. It does have it flaws but in my opinion I'd say it's good - not great but still good.
