Is Back 4 Blood Finally Good?

- Back 4 Blood first launched on October 7th, 2021, and I thought it was one of the worst games I've ever played. But several years and updates later, is it still a bad game? Or has it finally found it's full potential and become a good game?

I bought the game 3 years ago and gave it back after 2 hours. Now on sale i bought it again and have, like you, a very different, positive experience
I'm glad I'm not the only one enjoying. I bought for $2.99.
I feel like I stole it haha. I was one that was a huge left for dead fan. Countless hours on console and pc. I was going to pre-order but ended up deciding not to and then bought in now 2 days ago.
i got the $100 edition and played just past 2 hours before deciding on a refund which ofc was too late XD
@liamhop6148 well now I bought that edition for $2.99 that is very bad. But at least it has alot more value now
I gave the game 3 chances 1 of those chances fairly recently and mehhh
Agreed doing a content experiment for a website, @xbox?
My biggest flex is that I beat the final boss 3 years ago before all these updates
Same. And man was it a journey to complete Act 3 before. Lol
Imagine if they never said "from the creators of critically acclaimed Left 4 dead" and its different from the left 4 dead
Then it'd just be a dogsh*t game with 0 sales.
Only 5 developers from the left 4 dead team even worked on back 4 blood they false advertised.😂😂😂😂😂
@@mixes1228 nah, its gonna be better. they use left 4 dead name to boost their advertisment and make high expectation for their game.
I would have just played Vermintide instead...which is what I did anyway
Their latest DLC release at the start of December only boosted the player count to 6.5k. Checked SteamDB - a 24 hour peak of 18.6k players is not bad at all however this boost is because of the Steam Winter Sale. Prior to all of this, the game was only getting a peak of 2.5k players.
Hopefully it'll retain some of those players.
They didn’t release a new doc in December this year that was like a year or two ago I’ve had the game since release they stoppped updating it a while ago
@@RAINLORDV2 so even the Developers of the game, have the game...lmao
Unfortunately the base game final boss has become VERY glitchy. Sometimes it never continues attacking or changing phases
@@dundde3982great, an already lame boss fight is now super glitchy lol
I have over 3000 hours in Back 4 Blood at this point, here is my thoughts. The devs made a lot of stupid decisions when it released, it was way too unfair and unbalanced at release. New players just have no idea. At release you didn't have access to your full deck, you unlocked one card for every level you beat. The AI was borderline useless, specials spawned way too often, had way too much health, hit way too hard, and enemy spawns were completely broken. Now, they finally ironed out all of those problems, and added a lot of quality of life options. It's still a hard game, but it is 100% skill based now. The main mistakes I see people making are running off on your own, not picking up copper, getting in too big of a hurry and setting off hordes, triggering horde events before your team is ready, not going into hives, running from zombies instead of fighting, and not healing trauma when you get a chance. It's more complicated than Left 4 Dead, and that's what keeps me coming back. You have to make a build that suits you and kit your weapons with the right attachments to fit your build. I spend a lot of time helping those that are willing to learn turn into zombie stomping badasses. I still love Left 4 Dead, but Back 4 Blood is my favorite.
Just got the game n downloaded all the DLCs that were on sale. I’m a HUGE fan of the old school LFD n that’s y I wanted to play this but I’m a complete NOOB n need someone to give me a quick rundown n tips. Think u can help??
@
The best advice I can give is to learn how the spawns work and use it to your advantage. Some levels have a timed horde, watch for the meter to fill and get to a spot to defend where they can only come at you from one or two directions. Take it slow and loot everything, I see way too many people running past items that could help. Always run down in front and copper scavenger cards, especially on higher difficulties. Always go into hives, they let you get better weapons and attachments earlier than finding them in normal levels. Save 500 copper or more if possible on each level in case you find a random card you can buy, you can buy as many cards as you want and they’re added to your deck. Decide on what weapons you want to use and stick with them until you find higher tiers, and always pay to unlock them so you can swap out any attachments you find. On defense levels like bar room blitz or the diner, upgraded razor wire is your friend. Higher difficulties are easier with bots, you get their copper and they actually watch your back. The rest will just come to you with experience, learn the levels. Hope this helps
There's only two things that are negative that I have to say about Back 4 Blood as it right now.
1. The playable characters are really annoying, and most of the dialog is pretty cringy.
2. The developers abandoned the game not even a year and a half after launch, just like Evolve.
I can't in good conscience continue to support any ex-turtlerock studio developers when they fail to deliver on launch, spend months trying to give us the game they promised, then abandoning the game when the profits aren't as high as they expected.
The game is finished they completed the road map and moved on the servers are still up, evolve is shut down completely it’s not the same
@@glocklesnar882 Exactly this.
They told us what content they were going to make.
They made it.
Then they announced they were moving onto their next game.
They still maintain the servers and release bug fixes as needed.
What about this is a problem? Valve hasn't updated L4D2 in nearly a decade, the recent content patch was literally community made which valve simply put into the game. Yet everyone will praise it for literally doing the same thing.
@jazzyjswift thhey are not releasing bug fixes for this game anymore. And l4d had modding, b4b doesnt.
@@jazzyjswiftit's because l4d2 still has a living and thriving community and b4b is barely scraping 10k players
@@jazzyjswiftit's not even something to be confused about on the reason why the community for left 4 dead 2 is praising valve by doing the same fucking thing unlike b4b whose community isn't even that big.
here's the difference.
-the last stand update literally added EVERYTHING the community wanted such as new melee weapons, functional counter strike snipers, added new animations and also giving Rochelle her personality back by restoring 80% of her unused voicelines. and they also re added a bunch of stuff that made the game more engaging than it already was.
just because that patch was community developed it doesn't exclude it enough in order to not be considered as valve updating the game after so many years. like what are you stupid?
Valve gave the community what they wanted so what's the point of trying to make it seem like it's bad? they knew that even if they don't make a third sequel of the whole franchise the game would still continue to thrive with it's community no matter how toxic the majority is.
meanwhile back 4 blood in the other hand has that awful card deck system and its so dead that you literally need to buy an ultimate version of the game just so you could enjoy playing it.
isnt that pitiful?
and not to mention the fact that currently, the only main boss in that game is being buggy in terms of AI.
and lastly, back 4 blood died because of the lack of modding support, there i said it.
and the hilariously failed marketing strategy that the developers of the game decided to use when the game was still on its pre release stagesjust made it's downfall worse.
"fRoM tHe DeVeLoPeRs Of LeFt 4 DeAd"
my ass.
oh and guess what. the cleaners in that game are utterly forgettable as much as the zombies in it.
with that said, we already know which game has the majority of the people's favor.
Don't play this game online. No one understands co-op and co-op play. Everyone rushes every level and spawns horde after horde after horde.
I play on no hope level and it's very difficult. I can truly say even COD zombiebplayers who love a challenge would enjoy this
I'm having fun with friends at the moment, but I don't think its something we'll do cooperatively in the future. We just have to finish the campaign.
If they hadn't designed the game primarily around pushing in-game cosmetics, B4B could've been great.
Not sure what your reffering to as there isnt any microtransactions beyond dlcs and most of the new content can be obtained with out the dlc if you play with someone who does have the dlc and is hosting.
In game cosmetics are acquired through gameplay, a couple were preorder specials, and the rest are only available to those who own DLC.
None are available for cash, unless you're arguing that a DLC that adds new characters, weapons, maps, campaigns, and earnable cosmetics is pushing cosmetics.
@@jazzyjswift you can obtain some of the DLC cosmetics by playing with someone who has the DLCs as it will grant you cosmetics after getting the DLC cards.
At launch, we played all the way up to the very last level and got stuck. It was just my brother and I + 2 bots, and the bots were very bad back then, as was most of the weapon/card balancing. It was a fun (but difficult) slog up until that point, and we were forced to hang it up. I've been thinking of revisiting the game to see if we can finish it this time after all the tweaks and additions they've made to the game. Great video, bud! We'll be following in your footsteps soon.
Game was horrible during launch, but recently during the recent Christmas sale, this game has been a banger. There's still a few problems sure, nothing is perfect, but me and my friends had fun playing recently and that's what matters. 🤩
It wasn't horrible. Just too difficult due to bugs. I think that's part of why there's a lot of people crying online about it
@@oddgoblin1400 no he’s right. The bugs, the general state of the game as a whole was extremely negatively looked upon.
@VintageNarwhal I've played back 4 blood for hundreds (over a thousand probably) of hours and haven't experienced many bugs. In the early days of the game the bugs that I did experience were the ones I mentioned that made the game super hard by spawning tons of mutations.
Not too long ago, there were stunt performers who added a Project Gobi 2 to their resume, which makes me believe thats a B4B sequel because that game's codename was Project Gobi. As someone who was a big fan of the game throughout it's lifecycle and played it from launch all the way until they announced they were moving onto their next project, I really hope that the sequel is even better than B4B
honestly, i'm glad they improved the game, i really hate to see bad games come out time and time, it's way more fun for everyone if the games we get are actually good/get better after some support from the devs. Especially an online co-op genre games, it feels like almost every other game nowadays tries to be PVP like overwatch, but having games like B4B or world war Z to just chill out with mates and shoot some zombies is so much fun.
I remember when I first played Back 4 Blood and when I played the game on Veteran difficulty, I was almost always getting killed, and it was a miracle if I managed to complete a chapter on Veteran difficulty and not a single AI survivor dies...
When compared to L4D2 it’s worse in a lot of ways, them stating to be the successor to that series was shooting themselves in the foot before they even got started. Now when B4B is taken by itself and you look at it as it’s own thing there’s actually a lot of fun to be had especially with friends as the character builds and deck system adds a ton of different ways to go and cater to how you want to play it’s satisfying when you have a build that feels “just right” for what you want to do. If the game is on sale for dirt cheap I’d say it’s definitely something worth trying at least once for a night with the boys and just chill, while it’s not even close to the greatness of the L4D series and not worth full price, on its own it’s fun and that’s ultimately what matters.
Huh weird. For me it might be better than l4d... I believe that people who says l4d was better is just too hung up on nostalgia... Don't even start about mods. For me vanilla is more important and if a game is only good because of mods than, its not really good in the first place. B4B is fun and challenging much like you said. I played with my friends and enjoyed it. The game looks good. The modern aesthetics feels nice. Feels kinda like cod ngl. L4d is good but is just way too old for me gameplay wise. Maybe i just dont like the wonkyness of csgo's movement or valve's engine. TF2 is good but cs has always been meh for me.
@ That’s completely fair, B4B has a lot going for it and I can see others preferring it to L4D as it’s core systems and how strong you can be add a ton of cool factor and dopamine while still having a difficult game they get that right despite what others may say. I personally just think L4D’s atmosphere, level design and very intentional detailed aspects (even the movement) stand out so much and are so memorable it goes past nostalgia that even as latest as a couple weeks ago had some fun playing L4D2 with some buddies for a night. B4D hasn’t had that kinda staying power tho yeah it’s different for every person and every friend group so I can see both sides and honestly that variety is a good thing for us gamers as this genre of zombie coop campaign shooter, despite being such loved genre there really isn’t that many games like them out.
@@megotodesu4369having to make a build when its zombie game where you have to survive is stupid
@megotodesu4369 imo the characters in b4b are worse, the fact that you need cards or a certain character to counter some of the enemies of the game is dumb unlike l4d where for the most part you can counter most of the specials if you're good ready for it. The gunplay in b4b was better though and I didn't play it but that last dlc looked really cool
To be fair left 4 dead was better than left 4 dead 2
Also the dlc adds a bunch of special infected and card modifiers giving it tons of variety. One of your complaints was that there's only 3 types of special infected. Every infected from common to mutations get upgraded and become more powerful over time also. Also why is it dumb to have an option to increase movement speed? You can make strategies revolving around every little facet to the experience. You have a ton of options to mold how your character plays. You can sprint backwards while shooting if you want to. Thats not dumb. In left 4 dead you cant even aim down sights. You just run & shoot, stand & shoot, and repeat through the same spots on the map over and over again. Back 4 blood is similar but now you can be a medic so youre specialized towards healing the team or a scavenger, medic, reviver, dps, etc. You can make builds focused around a single little detail of the experience. Like having a build thats all about triggering alarms and using team buffs when they go off for example. Theres so many ways to play back 4 blood.
i don't know where this video is going beyond 5:02 BUT i sure hope you had at the end the same experience as i did. This game is fucking amazing ESPECIALLY if you have 3 friends
Yea the game is really good if you know what you’re doing if you watch one video on a build guide find one you like you’ll have the best time of your life
Is back 4 blood finally back? No.
Never will be either.
never. because it's been left 4 dead.
*ba dum tss*
@ LOL
I've been playing it constituently with mates since it launched, it hasn't gotten an update in the last year or 2. Still really fun, the game was slandered to death.
If they allowed mods this game would still be alive
last time i touched this game was in 2021, i was thinking about playing it again and your video def helped convinced me. great work on the video!
I know nothing about this game. It is $8 now. So sure I will try it.
Back 4 blood is like a mobile ripoff of left 4 dead
The thing is I wanna play as ridden on swarm but it takes years to join an actual server on swarm
Back when i tried this game. The biggest issue i had was the connection issue and the amount of lag was unplayable
I've liked the game from the start. It just needed to go through balancing bad at launch. It got to the point it's at now with the first DLC if I remember correctly. It's just no one would come back to give it another chance. First impressions are hard to change but sometimes it can happen.
Its free with Playstation Extra & premium and I've just started playing it. I've just finished Act 1 and I'd say its a decent fun game now. The only issue I've found was they don't really explain how things work and the controls, mainly aiming don't feel very well. Can't wait to finish the game now
playing from day 1 up until now..this is a very interesting and niche game on so many levels. i wish there were more people who were as deep into this game as me, but theres a ton of loyal players the community is actually pretty active for a "dead" game...
i love the RNG
Not a fan of the card build
just have 10 card sets
1 for speedrunners
2 Meelee
3 Tank
4 night vision
I can't even open the game anymore just because I change the quality for the game to high once.
It's never been bad....People just killed it prematurely cause "DUURRRR IT'S NOT L4D, DURRRR"
It had serious balancing issues. It was extremely frustrating because underneath it all I knew it was a decent game.
@thedude8526 I mean sure. I just find it hilarious how many people came back to this game because of the sale and have been like "gosh, this games great now!" Like it's been any different the last 2 years.
One thing I always remember is that every mission just looks identical to me.
You might need glasses.
The game is loosely modeled after a real life city, Finleyville, Pennsylvania, which is about an hour or so from Pittsburgh. You leave Fort Hope through the same area, but always go different ways. So sure, a few of the maps take place outside of the fort literally as the story has you leaving it, but that's like complaining that every time you leave your house you see the same street.
@@jazzyjswift I acknowledge that several missions are indeed set in the same area, and that some are diverse. I recall a dockyard, farms, etc. But for whatever reason it all just blended together for me. I'd say the lighting combined with lots of grays did it in for me. I find L4D2's map designs to be much more enjoyable and have more standout locations.
@@jazzyjswift you know what l4d maps didnt do? reuse levels
I've always been playing back for blood till this day it's been on and off but I've always said the game was like Left 4 Dead in its own way. Whenever I wanted to kill zombies mindlessly, this game will always scratch that itch for me no matter what. It pretty much plays just like Left 4 Dead if you were to just build a card deck that doesn't allow you to aim 🤷♂️ I did it once and it genuinely felt like I was playing Left 4 Dead because I was moving fast with stamina cards but I had accuracycardss to make my guns laser beams, so I was just shooting while moving.
The only thing wrong is that when you die twice, then you need to go back to the lobby and redue the whole thing over, while l4d you had unlimited tries and go back to the safe room again, I'm gonna give the game a try a again, all I need is a squad and not random, also I need to put all my time to B4B and not play call of duty 😅
@epicwiso5428 what is your name on there? and we could probably play 😁 but if you actually are looking for team-oriented stuff I am not the best so I don't play on the harder difficulties I am just on regular and recruit. But I definitely can play anything in any type of way because I have a build for most campaign scenarios
THANK GOD FINALLY! Only took them 3 years to make the game playable.
Should I buy it only 4.99
@@Andrewgonzalez510 If its only 5 bucks then yeah its easily worth that.
We PO on PS5 and had the same experience as everyone else the first 1-2 months....then slowly TR got their act together and it really became fun. We cleared the campaign first go ahead and it weas a blast. then out of the blue TR announced it would no longer support B4B, no more DLC leaving everyone scratching their heads why....Love to go back and continue...we started the next Higher Level...but why when TR no longer supports the game nor any future DLC. It's rumored they are working on another one but we're not sure after they literally screwed everyone d4ropping support for B4B in less than 2yrs in.....sad because B4B finally became a blast to play.....
me playing the game on 600x800 res and lowering resolution sharpness and using lossless scaling with nearest neighbor juat to increased my fps up to 25 fps what a great game
I pre ordered the duluxe too.
I thought I sucked at playing B4B but after what you say was your experience I guess not coz I beat the game and even some nightmare levels.
I did find it hard to get a good build and did feel I was not doing much damage most of the time.
Swingpoynt made amazing videos on all the mechanics and he had a great squad which makes all the difference.
Time to dive back in and get my platinum.
the title made me think they went back on abandoning this game
Nah. . . the thing is we just need a zombie co-op game that is very relatable with the characters and see how straight forward L4D is than those wanna be?
Is it still hard to find online games/players?
The issue is the devs no longer support it, so whats the point? They didnt even add mod support lol.
The dev team itself is awful.
Devs no longer support lots of games people still play... Like oh, left for dead
@-pressxtostart- l4d has mod support you genius
@@-pressxtostart- l4d has mod support you genius
B4B ain’t even bad, it’s a QUALITY game with GOOD content. everyone just wanted left 4 dead 3
It came out in really rough shape. But now, it's incredible. There are still some problems with it, cards that just have no place and you would never take them, the bots still aren't great, but they are better, and abandonment from the devs. However, the combat, all of the new stuff, the hives, the new cards, the new characters, have made it a ton of fun. It's worth it, especially when the ultimate edition goes on sale for like $10, and is infinitely better with friends.
Dude I don’t know what the bots were on at the start cuz they sucked but lately I genuinely prefer them to real players. For one reason. They cannot deal friendly fire
I remember the Holly meta… with all the right cards it turns her into a lawnmower who does more damage and get health with every enemy you kill😪 good times before they nuked those cards
I played it on launch and I didn't think it was that bad. Recruit was indeed more difficult than it should've been but not THAT bad. My friends and I beat it without too much problem (it was probably the right level for us or just a little bit below the right level for us). So we tried Veteran and... got demolished. Like utterly demolished. The jump between Recruit and Veteran was ridiculous. I just remember the general consensus being there should be a lower difficulty, then launch time Recruit, then a harder difficulty, then launch time Veteran. Launch veteran was insane.
The card system I found a lot of fun, but grinding for the cards was NOT fun. The other huge weakness in B4B was the specials. They just weren't fun. Ogres were boring AF to fight. The other specials were reskins and most of them were boring bullet sponges or felt BS (the pukers puked way too fast). The characters and specials didn't really have much personality either.
I personally quite enjoyed B4B and did grind for all the cards but my friends got bored before they got all the cards. Contrast that to for example Darktide where I have over 1000 hours in and my friends are still happy to play it. Overall it was an ok game. Definitely nothing approaching a classic though.
Are the bot squadmates improved?
Yes everything but max difficulty they’re better than humans
It good for solo play but for some reason in multiplayer they are so bad
Yeah, they're good but nothing beats solid communication with other people.
The main reason I liked the game was more of its story and lore than its actual gameplay. I liked the world that they built but I hate that the game had potential but was just “ left for dead”
I really enjoyed back 4 blood even when it was during the beta. Nightmare back then felt like a puzzle with 4 that required teamwork to properly get through. At least they fixed thebmost glaring issue by slotting in a new difficulty between veteran and old nightmare.
They've literally not added or changed anything in years and finally people are realizing that the game was subject to a smear piece and hit campaign combined with a rocky start. (seriously, the last DLC was in 2022)
It's legit one of my favorite games and has been since I started on launch day.
I recently got it because it's on sale, I was thinking I wouldn't lose much, even if it sucked cuz its 90% off.
Boy, was I wrong, I lost 2 weeks to this game, it was good
Either way, the $100 deluxe edition is on sale for ps4/5 for only $10 so I’d get that.
I played PC, and the game was hard. It was probably near impossible back then on console without the stupid speed smg builds. Now I think the game is very doable solo through nightmare, but without being an expert and having perfect builds No Hope is brutally difficult with bots. I legit think it might be one of the hardest games out there solo on No Hope. Whenever I play I'm like holy shit this is intense.
You sound like Technology Connections 😁
Thank you, that was bugging me.
It's good now especially buying it at $5. Not shitting on the game or anything. I purchased it at full price when it released but refunded it right away. Only bought it again last month and the price makes it worth it. i love the card system
I enjoyed the game, Solo'd Nightmare and enjoyed the challenge. People need to stop comparing it to L4D.
Theres a youtube video comparing l4d2 and back 4 blood, but all of the back 4 blood footage is from the beta. Totally biased video with tons of views giving the worst impression possible for the game.
Outdated TH-cam video that had millions of views are the worst
Back for blood is trash though soooo
Let em guess it’s crowbcat
@@XxgoodbudsxX How dare you have an opinion counter to mine /sarcasm
@@MegablanchardStrangerThings Yeah, and what's even more hilarious is when you realize that even then, all the complaints against b4b are about visuals or are subjective at best.
He spends a chunk of the video arguing that because l4d2 zombies were mocapped for their dying animation it makes it superior, and that
the 6 tombstones in the one map of B4B don't dynamically break using physics rendering that it's inferior.
He frames the lead of TR stepping down from leadership after he worked on L4D2 as some sort of slight against B4B even though the commentary he specifically shows has him state he was tired of the role and wanted to step back.
He argues that the characters are less interesting, which is subjective (personally I think learning about the characters is more interesting in b4b because you have to piece together specific team combo dialogues over multiple playthroughs to piece together stories through normal interaction), and states this as fact.
He showcases a bunch of bugs that were in the beta that were fixed before launch and uses them as evidence that B4B is a broken mess.
This is the video most L4D fanboys praise for convincing them to avoid B4B and slander it for the last 3 years.
A video that spends most of its time misrepresenting the game from closed beta as the full release, arguing about graphics, and framing subjective opinions as declarative facts.
It's a smear piece.
If it wasnt for videos like this i would have never returned to the game. Just tells you how important first impressions are
It’s because it was too cartoonish… The zombies nowhere near as scary as left for dead two and one. It just doesn’t capture that horror element.
Ackchyually they are "infected", not "zombies".
I still dont like how the dev do balance change it just way worse over time at least the bot are pretty good in solo but multiplayer one just way worse some how
is it wortg buying rn?
I think most of the complaints I've read from people have about this game at the time it released when they compare it to L4D2 are performative or purely subjective based on one popular but outdated, and inaccurate video's information rather than genuine complaints about the actual game. Lets be honest, most people have no idea what they're fking talking about.
Its a fun game, put in at least hundred hours into it.
Watching up to minute 5.... I died inside hearing about the state of the release
So I pre-ordered back 4 blood and the title says “Is B4Blood *Finally* good” so my question is what’s changed?? Or is this a late late post? I’m confused thought they trashed the game?
I always loved back 4 blood. Been playing it since launch on and off. Over 1400 hours on it and easily my fave zombie shooter. The biggest positive change they made fairly early on that was a game changer was to add full 15 card draw from the get go so you Immediately have your full 15 card deck with you at the start of every act. Immediately made the game so much better. I must say I disagree with the start of your video and think you way overblow how tough recruit difficulty was even at launch. It was veteran that was a decent challenge and nightmare was where it was extremely tough indeed where full teams would spend weeks trying to get through a single act but I remember recruit always being pretty easy even with only bots. Regardless I am happy you are enjoying it now and its great seeing so many people come back with the sales. Back 4 blood 2 will be coming soon so i really hope they dont make the same mistakes and instead continue from where they left off here.
I was curious if the game had improved since it's currently on sale for for the holidays. Thank you Sir for this review.
Is there an offline experience with actual progression now?
You can play by yourself now. And you do still earn rewards. It’s great.
Yes
They added that about a month after release, over 3 years ago bud.

I'm glad I bought it for 3 bucks last week lol
I'm gonna install it today and try it out.
I bought it recently for about $5 because yolo. Haven't played it yet though.
I prefer Zombie games where headshots are kill shots.
Chest is a bit spongey and you can shoot off arms/legs but they keep coming
Back 4 Blood was awful maybe I’m just not playing with right people
I'm legitimately surprised this game actually turned into something decent. After an extremely frustrasting launch I gave up on this game too like yourself. I really though TR would just walk away from the game, props to them for that. But man, 3 freaking years to get it right? Took em long enough.
Game was fun as hell at launch and is still fun as hell to play. Literally the only thing that was meh about the game was the pvp which I didn't care to play anyways.
I was able to pick this game up on the Xbox yesterday, it was $3 for the ultimate edition haha 😅
Gonna have to check it out again I brought it when it dropped downloaded it then got for 2hrs then uninstall an haven't looked back since lmaooo
I think for me left 4 dead was like your in a movie scenario and it was very much like an arcade game. Back4blood just feels like left 4 dead meets fortnight. They've put way too much in it. Get rid of the cards, rid of the silly giant bosses and it'll be more playable for the average Joe.
Game wasn't that hard with other players on release. Played with my sister throughout the whole campaign. The biggest problem was the crapshoot whether you'd be matched with good players, or tryhards that only wanted to play the game the way they wanted to and sprinted as fast as they could leaving the rest of the team behind as they triggered every horde. That and the progress you enabled new cards was a bit slow. I think they over-corrected by letting you have all your cards at the start. It ruined the fun of building a deck and planning out the progression.
But yeah, it's still nowhere near as good as L4D1or2 and no level editor means it's pretty much dead as soon as you've completed all the levels.
Just bought it and actually enjoy it.
Calling Evolve boring makes me question your credibility
Facts!!!!
It did get boring after 120 hours for me at least.
It is boring until they release it as stage 2.
It’s not a matter of credibility, I love evolve but if his opinion is that it’s boring that’s completely fine, get over yourself mate
Played with friend a year or two back then, the game does have its ups and downs. The game is fun with friends, which is the bottom line for any coop game really.
Characters are unremarkable at first glance if you were to compare them to characters from COD, L4D or any other franchises with beloved characters , but I slowly liking some of them (mostly thanks to friends of mine giving me a decent experience with them), we still occassionally repeat lines from Sharice, Doc, Hoffman or Jim just for shit and giggles while chatting.
Lack of mods/custom server support/custom campaigns etc, not a big deal compared to all other problems, but certainly sticks out like a sore thumb when you compare it to L4D.
Occassionally, game cheats and spawn specials directly behind you or at areas you just cleared. On higher difficulty, game spam specials at you, and you died because game said so. So it's fun gameplay by chance, and rage-induced experience at times.
Biggest problems I think about this game, its the obnoxious grind to get cards in order to put together a decent deck for a better experience on higher difficulty, and no new contents(which basically the problem of most live service games, and Warner bros effectively just abandoned the game).
I don't really think it was ever a bad game I think that people kept comparing it to Left 4 Dead and it made it look like a bad game, don't get me wrong I don't love it but I don't hate it
it's been 3 years just let it go
It just feels so bad on console, compared to pc. The aiming is just terrible with a controller, but great with a mouse and keyboard.
You can play solo and still get achievements. Idk why it was in training mode for you
On release it wasn’t that way
I wonder if he's playing on console or PC? I remember back when left 4 dead first dropped. I kept hearing that the console players were saying it was too hard and that there were too many zombies. I believe it was because of the controllers on the consoles vs a keyboard and mouse on PCs. I had a buddy that used to team up with us on the pc. He was big on using a PlayStation controller and refused to learn to use the keyboard and mouse. On the PlayStation, he was very good at shooters. But on the PC. Trying to use that controller, the game was way too fast for him to deal with. Way too much going on for the mechanics of that controller. Too slow to turn around, aim etc. we all loved that game but he quit playing pretty quickly complaining that it was too hard.
I like back 4 blood. Haters on this game are so strange to me
Why are we strange ? Since when releasing an unfinished game and yet having the nerve to call it a l4d sequel is okay ?
@juliogaltoni They never called it a left 4 dead sequel. And I find it strange because the game has always been fun to me. I played sense release without encountering many bugs. Deck building and strategizing with the team is fun. There's not many games like it that are made as far as I know of. The game has a variety of playstyles that are very customizable. If you like athletic shooters you can be fast and mobile, you can be a DPS, tank, scavenger, bomb expert, money bags, medic, EMT, team buffer, etc build. The experience is very customizable
@@oddgoblin1400 they kept saying from the creators of left 4 dead like valve didn't carry the development of left 4 dead. That being said at least in my opinion at launch the game wasn't fun, after they gave everyone all the cards it was better but still not good imo, the gunplay is nice and the set pieces in the campaign are kinda cool
@@thadisturbedone1606 True that it was shady to say it's from the same developers. Whoever's responsible for advertising that made a mistake. Did you play with friends? It's more fun with people you know. The thing that I enjoy most about the game is the strategic aspect of it. It's design is suited for intellectuals. The thing I disliked the most was that there's no versus campaign mode. Still there's not many games made like it so I appreciate it for the unique experience it offers. I don't mind it that the game feels arcade-ish in design compared to left 4 dead because the trade off for that is more depth and variety to the experience.
same here despite being flaws
My main issue with this game is that it has a stamina bar with sprint. Just means you you can't fall back if things got heated.
There's not even sprint in left 4 dead. You can use cards to increase or improve your stamina. I feel like half the people complaining about this game played it for maybe 2 minutes based on the stuff they say. Like this dude pointed out that 8 percent movement speed increase was stupid. If you play the game for even an hour you'd see the value in being able to move faster.
@@oddgoblin1400 i think what hes trying to say is its very hard to run from zombies because u run out of stamina. unlike in l4d, u can outrun them forever (as long as u have somewhere to run)
but if b4b had no stamina everybody would just run movement speed cards and sprint to the safe room.
i agree with u that people who complain about stamina/bullet sponges etc kinda just dont get it. bullet sponges are necessary because u have damage cards. if they werent we would 1 tap all the special infected.
@troua2001 You can't sprint in left 4 dead and you get slowed based on your health. I'd say there's more opportunities for mobility in back 4 blood. Gotta use cards to have it but it's there. You can also clamber in back 4 blood.
@@oddgoblin1400 i know u cant sprint in l4d. but i dont think that was his point.
@@oddgoblin1400I absolutely despise the card systems, it feels so damn forced.
It’s a good game. Not awesome, but not bad either. And if we‘re being honest: most negative reviews you see are basically „it’s not L4D2“. Which surely is the devs mistake for trying to ride that hype train. But besides that…B4B is fine.
Combat gameplay feels numb in b4b, l4d2 is another thing i think its because of source engine anyway i didn't enjoy b4b at all.
To bad they abandon the game instead of keep launching more content.
Had a ton of fun with friends after they fix and balance most of the things in game.
I thought the devs pulled the plug on this game
I preordered it because I always wanted to play lfd it didn’t disappoint stopped playing after a couple hundred hours though
I genuinely liked evovle
B4b wasn’t that bad, yeah it was buggy and felt like they didn’t have enough people working on it but once you got good cards you were fine.
It still looks like a free to play mobile game... I believe its much better now, but just from the gameplay it still looks awful.
Answer: no. Next question.
The game is great specially with friends I actually really like the card system
I always favored the melee healing build or medic for quick heals but yea i also deleted it
Got it on winter sale im having fun.
Wait this game still getting updates?
nah they stopped updating the game in 2022
