- The site is Massillon's Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. We should have a near sell-out crowd close to 18,000.
The visitors tonight: St. Edward. Ranked #1 in Ohio and #10 in the USA.
They are defending Back-2-Back champs and have a record of 34-2 the last few seasons. 1 of those losses was in overtime to Cincinnati Moeller... and the other was here.. last year.. when Massillon scored a last second touchdown to win the game.
St. Ed's is 72-11 since the beginning of 2017 and Massillon is 75-13 in that same span. Massillon has a pretty solid defensive front 7 and St. Ed's has the largest offensive line in the country. Not one of the... THE largest. The 5 guys up front average 6'5 and 300lbs. Two are brothers going to Ohio State and one is going to Michigan. The other two are undecided.
Ed's is #1 in Ohio for Division 1. Massillon is #3 in Ohio for Division 2.
Should be a great one.

Mad impressive that a public school can pull this off. St. Ed’s literally has a population in Lakewood of 50,000 PLUS they recruit, Massillon has a population of 32,000. 🤷♂️ 🤷♂️

That was the loudest game in Paul Brown Tiger Stadium that I have attended. The atmosphere was better than some of the Mass/McK games.. TIG….

graduated from St Ignatius in1960. Massilon was a powerhouse then..60 years ago..Been living in Vermont for 45 years..Hockey and skiing are tops here

Although not an Ohio native, I’ve always been impressed with the quality and intensity of Ohio football. I’m curious however how the migration from Rustbelt areas like Ohio has affected the football talent level there. I see how it’s affecting North Jersey(where I’m from) and I see how it’s benefiting where I live North Georgia. Metro Atlanta has probably 3 of the top 12 teams in the country and these high schools are massive and growing. Many of these kids are from Ohio or at least their parents are…
I can't speak for any other district or team. I grew up in Massillon and graduated as part of the class of 2022. Most of the kids that played football that I graduated alongside had been here their entire lives. Keep in mind those guys I graduated with were part of a team that made three consecutive state championship games (2019-2020) and lost a Regional Finals game in 2021. Throughout all those years, the Tigers played solid competition, including out of state teams from New Jersey, Illinois (East St. Louis in 2018 was an instant classic of a game), Pennsylvania and New York. This was in addition to competition from inside the state, both in the regular season and the playoffs. At least here in Massillon, the football talent hasn't seemed to dip much at all. If you want evidence of that, you can see it in a lot of the games over the last several years where Massillon has put running clocks on a lot of opponents (Which requires at least a 35 point lead in the 2nd half). In recent years, Massillon has struggled to find in state opponents, which is why there has a been a lot of out of state teams. This coming year in fact, Massillon will play 4 in state teams and 6 out of state teams in the regular season. I'm sure there has been some change in the level of football talent across the board, but in places like Massillon, you don't see it.
Lot of team speed all-over on the Massillon squad, to me that was the difference in game!
Yes that did seem to be the case. St. Ed's is back-to-back defending champ. The first year of the back-to-back was 2021 and McKinley played them in the second round and that team was very fast. They don't seem to be the same team with the same team speed

@@cb007RDA yeah that bums me out too when I heard on my way to the game that he was on crutches. They said he's only thrown five touchdowns but seven interceptions but I know he was also the team's leading rusher which is sad that he's hurt.

This was very close to being the best if it's not there a tuff team to beat. But the Cleveland heights media game this year there was 115 points scored between both teams the running back had 358 yards rushing and the game was really close the whole time too if you like this game you should watch that one.

It's funny after beating St Ed's the Massillon quarterback was suspended the next game for a violation of transfer paperwork but it wasn't a problem tell now. Someone wasn't happy lol
Standard procedure. A LOT of people misunderstood what was going on. The ruling is that after the transfer, you're eligible to play weeks 1-5 and then you must be reviewed by the OHSAA. McKinley's Nino Hill had to do the same thing last year. Only difference was that the OHSAA got it done quickly. Massillon QB was suspended for a game essentially because OHSAA wasn't done reviewing.

Doesn’t matter they’re still the best team in the state. 16-0 and beat the D1 state champ. Massillon would’ve smoked everyone in the D1 final four. 5 loss Springfield, Hilliard Bradley who lost their starting QB in the regional final, and Archbishop Moeller who hasn’t been as dominant in recent years.
