i truly hurt for all the parents that have to go through this. i was at that same facility for a long 3 months. it was hard on my family. while there, i had times where staff took away my right to talk to my parents. it wasn’t a great place, but i hope your child is doing better now.

Thanks for responding and viewing Lee. I hope all goes well with your sister. This disease is awful but I'm convinced that these kids are in the best place possible.

Note to ALL parents do NOT send your child to a facility that they won't let you tour before you sign them in....period!!!!

I don't know if you'll see this, but I was at Alexs' graduation and you said something about these videos. My sister was admitted 2 days ago. I'm glad I got to watch these and see the graduation. Stay strong!

I have a 14 year old daughter who has Anerxia. We are trying to fight it at home but we may have to admit her to this facility.
    Thank you for the videos!!
Did you continue to like the facility?
Did your daughter like the facility?
    How long did she stay?
    How is she doing now?
Sorry for all of the questions, I don’t want to put her there but we may not have a choice.
    Thank you for your time.

Matt...thanks so much for your response. I am truly sorry you are having to go through this and feel for your daughter and you guys. We are 3 yrs post video and doing better. Throughout the whole stay at Veritas, we were extremely impressed with the facility, staff and family involvement. We highly recommend Veritas. She checked in on 2-14 and I took her home from on 6-3 I think. About a month of that was what they call PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) where we had to rent an apartment and take her back and forth to a Veritas daily. Alex is doing a lot better now. Still struggles occasionally. It got pretty bad after about 6 months after we left but with dietician and therapy appointments, we were able to manage. I will tell you that we never that that we would admit her to a facility but ended up having no choice. After spending 3 weeks at university of Kentucky hospital children’s unit, we left and tried to manage at home. That lasted about a week or 2 before we took her back to UK with the understanding that she would transition to Veritas. Hopefully I was able to provide some insight but feel free to response with question. We have lived this for 4 yrs now and would love to attempt to help. Thanks....Ben

Thank you Ben for the response.
This is a nightmare for me and my wife. We are just trying to make the right decisions. We do live one county over from the facility so we could visit every day. I am dreading the day we have to leave her if it comes to that. We have some meetings with Duke coming up so we will see what they say and have to make a decision from there.
I’m not sure what else you could say to help, I can relate to everything you said in the videos.
I’m glad to hear you daughter is still doing good.
      Thanks again for everything.
