Gemma you have so much insight (not surprising to those who know your story) into how people with eating disorders feel and act. Equally you know what is lacking in terms of help and how people have to be really ill, which can lead to organ damage, to be helped by the NHS. In an ideal world YOU should be advising the goverment about these issues. Please continue to use your status to bring eating disorders into the open.

Thank you!!! Your honesty, compassion/&/passion speak loudly & i hear you. Like you said... (more like...what i heard)..if you havent been through this you cant be expected to fully understand how brutal this is...every minute of every day. I havent experienced this but i could relate SO deeply to some of what people with an eating disorder go through as i of have gone through the daily obsession & not being able to shut my mind off as i was always fixated on...the next pill. The big difference between the two are...you have to have food, its EVERYWHERE. People that dont know you...are not going to shame you when you are at a restaurant or wherever & you are eating. Its expected & encouraged. Its legal! I can leave a six month treatment center & if i follow directions...i have a chance if i use the tools, go to meetings & get out of myself by helping others AND dont go around people that use...i have a chance & i get a long break from thinking of using. You all on the other hand...must never get a break because even in treatment...where i had no access to drugs...& knew i could get a random drug test at any time...should someone sneak it in. You all deal with food everyday. You literally get no breaks from food. I actually had thought about this reality before as there were times in treatment where a few people had both diseases & they spoke about it in group- where i always felt empathy for all... & i did try to put myself in their shoes the best I could. But this video showed me so much more of the full reality of what you all go through. It was raw & heartbreaking. The part that was new to me...the information about the money!! I am ashamed that i didnt know this. I know in the states all kinds of money goes into helping addicts...both from private donations & money from the government. Its not enough but common sense + your heartbreaking private messages...clearly addicts are getting more than those with eating disorders. You opened my eyes on that...big time. I dont know what sectioning is...& thats bothering me as I want to understand more of how the process works when someone or their family is seeking help. When...not if....i post for support on this...i need to know what i'm talking about. Because the majority of people dont get it....its the same with addicts & alcoholics. They think its all about will power. HA! You have opened my eyes wider & i cannot ignore what i now know. xo Pam, still Kelli's mom
