Aw it's a little tombstone for his little foot 👣 😊
Well, you could always say that this man had one foot in the grave already.
😂
I believe the bodies would be stored in the vaults during the winter due to the ground being frozen, making burial near impossible. Then they’d be buried in Spring.
Great content as always!!!
Did you hear the one about the guy who had his entire left side cut off? He's all right now.
Lol.😹
Story very similar here in Ireland, he buried his leg but he has sense passed and they are reunited
Hi Sue,😊
Wonderful to see so many restored headstones!
Perhaps he had "one foot in the grave?"
Love those New England cemeteries. They're so beautiful.
Wow, fascinating story.
There is a leg buried in my grandma’s small little hometown cemetery in Samaria Idaho. The owner of the leg is buried on the other side of the same cemetery. We’d go there as kids on Memorial Day and always have to find the leg.
Wow! what a great story Chris! So interesting and heartfelt. Poor guy🙏🏻 I can imagine fireside stories about a footloose walking the streets after midnight 😮
Thanks again Chris💙🙏🏻🌟
One leg and one foot deep.
If in Massachusetts go to spidar gates cemetery huge history on that one ... also known as quaker cemetery
Great Job Chris! Love your work
You could say they got him legless to make him legless ...just get me coat lol thanks Chris enjoyed it as all ways
Very interesting subject and would love a video everyday. Thanks for sharing.
My uncle crushed off the tip of a finger in a piledriver making a dock and he and his friends had a drunken funeral for it, and the glove he was wearing, and gave them a burial at sea. That always made me laugh as a kid.
So beautiful green. I had never lived anyplace so green. Everyday 🥳
My granddad lost his leg in the late 1800s same thing. He has two graves in two states, one for his leg and one for himself.
Maine has many old cemetaries dating back to the 1700's and I think older, they have the witch's foot in Bucksport, plus many others. Always enjoy your video, I have learnt alot form them.
You may think it weird for someone to want to bury a part of their body buried, but, I don't think it is....Due to an infection, it was necessary for one of my toes along with two bones behind it, to be amputated. I thought about burying it. Right away family said to me "what's the big deal, its only a toe."...Yes, it's only a toe, but, it was MY toe. Please believe me when I tell you,it IS disturbing.
I thought it through and though I have all my parts, I can relate but I myself wouldn't bury it, I'd hang it from my rearview mirror.
😉👍
“He’s not all there” was definitely a good one!🤣
Wow...interesting story. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain he went through while waiting for the doctor to get there. And then, having that leg sawed off while he was pinned between the house and a wire fence. That was one strong man to have survived all that!!
The empty crypts may be old temporary crypts to store bodies of people who died in the winter. The ground would have been frozen too hard to dig. So they’d keep the bodies there to bury later when the ground thawed.
Very interesting story. Quite odd. That iron tombstone…first time ber seeing that - anywhere!
Interested to se what you have in store for Maine! Enjoy your time in lovely New England.
3:13 Not crypts, those were for storing coffins containing the deceased when the ground was too frozen to dig until a thaw.
Where is this at? I wanna dig it up and bring it home. 🤪
Thanks Chris! 🤠👍
Loved the Cast Iron marker ! If I were to be interred 😵in a Historic cemetery, I would have to commission such a marker.
Chris you are so great , 😅
" Guess you could say - he's not all here ! "
😁😁
Maybe he was buried about a foot away.
God Bless this 🦵 may it rest easy in one piece well maybe ❤🌹
Hey Chris ! Your finally in my state ! Lots of neat tombstones here actually.
Yeah some really cool old cemeteries for sure.
Great video Chris.
Such great content and awesome stories you share!
Your tours are very interesting.Have you ever visited Fort Delaware and across the river at Fort Mott in N.J.where the prisoners of Fort Delaware are buried in Fins point cemetery.Fins point cemetery care taker was murdered at this location by Andrew Cunanan in 1997.
Thank you, Chris! As it happens, I recall (in the 1960s) a man losing a leg to a shark attack off the (I believe) Jersey coast, and it was buried with the hope of being reunited with the rest of his body at the resurrection on the last day. As I say, this is a recollection, but I'm pretty sure I'm remembering correctly. I suspect religion may have played a role in these body parts being buried.
Yes religion absolutely did. It's a fascinating subject. I ll look up the shark attack one. Would maybe be an interesting video. Thanks
@@MobileInstinct2 Chris, the only piece of this I am unsure of is location. I remember NJ but it could have been further south.
Their is a programme in the UK called one foot in the grave 😂
Wow, RIP foot🪦🦵🏻
you should come back to the east coast of Canada
Well they have the bad Frank Phillips leg buried in the Philips cemetery over in Mingo county West Virginia. He is part of the Hatfield McCoy story. Leg is buried in his body and wife are buried about 8 ft away from the leg.
I have a friend who had one of her legs removed and she has pain and trouble she feels from her phantom limb regularly.
How interesting, never heard of a persons limb being buried after it was amputated. When I worked for the care industry, I looked after an amputee who had a leg amputated because of diabetes and during the winter he would say how the stump would ache and be so painful. He would go to bed as this was the only way he could cope along with pain killers to relieve pain. As far as I know the limb was discarded and don't think it was buried. Interesting story!
I've never heard of limbs being buried before. That’s interesting
I look forward to your videos.
i'd have to be injured back then, there was no anesthesia, they just liquored you up to dull the pain
Never thought one of these videos would make me laugh. I can’t imagine going to my own funeral 😂😂😂. Well, part of it anyway.
My leg ! 😂
I'm sooo stupid idk why I kept thinking Samuel L Jackson!!! Lol 😂🤣😁
Would be awesome if you were able to put a video out everyday on this channel ❤ 🎉
Maybe he was very attached to himself 😂
Another fascinating graveyard.
The British influence is remarkable.
Tomorrow will mark 220 years since his leg was amputated. Wow!
I guess you could say that his friends got him legless?
A civil war general buried his leg he lost also if i remember correctly.
Yes! I may do that video.
I'm a retired nurse in San Antonio, Texas, and there are people here, especially of Mexican origin, who still believe that they should bury amputated body parts.
I wouldve wrapped it in butcher paper and tossed it in the deep freezer. Then check in on it every now and again maybe show an unsuspecting friend 10 years later after a few beers... that be great fun and wildy disturbing
That was an interesting act.. first for me... weird...😮
Strange, But interesting
Lol, he visited his own grave. How the heck did you find this!
Good video
hilarious 😂
🇺🇸🇺🇦❤🤍💙💛

Great
