I live near Rocky Point. Me and my dad go for walks here. My dad would always tell me stories about how much he loved it there and his favorite rides. He told me his favorite part of the park was the house of horrors. I love going there and exploring what is left behind.
I live in CT and would go here every summer in the 70s and 80s. Always loved this place, great times. Sad to see that it closed down. I'm sure I have pictures stashed somewhere 😁
The round cement thing in the woods was the remnants of the old water tower. They also used to have a zoo up in the woods. It was really cool. I grew up in Warwick.
i'm 58 and went to rocky point very often for shore dinner hall clam cakes and chowder...also seen all kinds of band and also got to play once in a local band show there...good times...btw clam cakes and chowder and the ride the enterprise are not a good commination. Thanks for posting.
The train tracks were the Rocky Point trolley. It did a big circle in the woods and started right next to where the Corkscrew and the other entrance to the park was.
I went there once with my (then) fiancée. The fortune teller asked her “Are you going to marry this boy?” To which she said “You’re supposed to tell us!” This was sometime around ‘79 - ‘81? My memory is a little foggy some 40+ years later. I began to drink heavily after she broke up with me. She was “the one” in my eyes, and still is. I was able to put the bottle down in ‘88. Too many things dissappear as we age. Such a shame. Sometimes I think it would be neat to go back in time for a short while to see what things and places AND people were like!!

Even though I wasn’t alive for it, I’ve been utterly fascinated by the 1964 World’s Fair, watching countless documentaries about it and reading about it. The influences that it had on so many things is so neat, but it also so interesting where countless elements of it ended up across the country, and still are, like the arches. Other is at a strip mall in New York state, serving as a sign. Two more are at a fairly rural excavation company in I believe Ohio, serving as their two business signs. Some of the pole lights ended up in county fairgrounds and that resort in the Pocanos. The huge Uniroyal tire Ferris wheel sits along the interstate near Detroit. Of course It’s a Small World and the Carousel of Progress ended up at the Disney parks. Some of the state pavilion buildings were moved back to their respective states and used for other things. Just fascinating. If you’ve never watched the in-depth documentary called “After The Fair”, it’s a great watch and on TH-cam.
All the World's Fairs have interesting stories like this. If you ever get bored with the one in 1964, you can pick pretty much any one of the others and get stuck for a long time. I live close to Knoxville and was a little kid when they had theirs but I didn't get to go.

Damn man right in my back yard, literally! And yes it's a damn shame that our kids didn't get to grow up with the amusement park as we did. I can guarantee you that everyone in and around this area completely miss Rocky Point Park! Also, I have 2 unopened packs of tickets for the chowder Hall. Not worth much of anything but cool to have.
My parents both worked at Rocky Point and got married a few years later. I use to go on all those ride and they had a little kid section too. They had a beer garden but you had to eat the Chower and clam cakes. I would go to Rocky Point almost every other weekend. The house of horror was one of my favorite rides but the added the free fall and i could see the ocean and all of the park and before you knew it you were dropped and i would scream !! I even had a prom there and they had concerts there. My mom told me back in the day they even had animals there. I can remember one day i drove threw to just do something i was about 17 and my boyfrend was in the car with me i had a 86 red firebird and a freaken seagull flew in thres the passenger window as i was driving all i can remember was holy shit this bird is huge and then i was screaming it then flew out my drivers side window i so wish i had a camera or a cell phone back then..lol

Have you ever been to Gatlinburg TN? There's an old amusement park site there, the old Fun Mountain, which has an abandoned old sky lift there with the chairs still hanging. It's very spooky.
We had a small amusement park close to where I live. It was closed in the mid 90s, and they demolished it to build a water park. I drove by there the other day and it's been completely leveled. Enchanted Forest was a fun childhood memory.
Chris, I thank you once again for a wonderful explore! Once again, you are so good with photography and adding history. A place I never knew existed, now exists in my mind!
It is sort of sad that we opt for the new, shiny baubles and leave behind what served as fun family entertainment for decades upon decades. And those rides, like the train and the Skyliner, would still be exciting for little kids with their parents or grandparents--and for those parents and grandparents who enjoyed those rides as little kids themselves.

And we all have our preferences and for me, an old coaster is just fine and rickety can be scary enough, lol. And it was more about mellow than anything for me, a day at a theme park, as I got my kicks going fast on bicycles and motorcycles. And who knows, with that land still there, maybe something will be revived at this place and its adjacent beach.
My brother took me there when I was about 7 years old and I'm 56 now. Fond memories of that day. WHY do people have to deface our wonderful land??? Thank you for sharing your adventure!

Its sad seeing these parks " gone" before my time on this world and after I can't imagine the younger generation not knowing about these parks as well things they never saw before and never will and to go back in history looking at the fun people used to have when going out to these places with friends and family and having more good fun then what it is today I personally missed a lot of these things such as this parks made in the 30s I was born in the 70s so I never got a chance to see it before and after 😔😔😔😔

Wild. Used to go live in Worcester County, MA and went to R.P. a few times. Funny: As soon as the video opened and "Rocky Point" was mentioned, I was like..."E-e-eXSQUEEZE ME?" LOL! I remember getting clam chowder in the food place...It's now an open field. I remember stepping into the arcade...It's now an open field. House of Horrors...Sounds familiar but now an open field. Some of those rides ring bells also. Ironically, there's also mention in the video about the various views and such. The reaction on this end: "Oh, cool! Sure enough. Check it out!" Amazing how things can change in 47 years... Oh...That arch looks familiar as well...
I've never was here even when it was still open, but I know a lady friend of mine who had plenty of pictures of her taken all over the park back in 1975 when she was 15... We're both in our 60s now... Long time ago!

Dogpatch USA is Southwest of Harrison AR. They keep saying it will open up as something or Another. But it's still abandoned and falling apart. And the woods are growing back in it
Maybe an old railroad was next to the narrow gauge rails used for a novelty ride . There was a wider gauge rail under the nattow gauge rail bridge that sparked my interest

I use to go to this park back in the 80's, Road the skyliner lots of times, Great place to talk to girls.
That pool was salt water, my brother and I did flips off the high dive back in the 80’s, good times!! ✌️👍
It's nice they have plaques to let you know what thet different ride's were and what they use to look like.

It reminds me of abandoned ski resorts I have stumbled upon while snowshoeing. I like that they leave some of the history.
