For those comparing dream team’s eras just look at today’s international talent compared to before. Now you have countries with 6-12 nba players in their rosters. You have countries with 2-3 all stars in their roster. International competition is a lot harder to beat than before. Half of nba superstars are international. Back in 80’s, 90’s you were lucky to find 3 nba players in a foreign team against usa.

The Tokyo Olympics team didn't crush everybody. They barely won several of their games against really good competition. The European, Canadian, and African talent is increasingly good, and Fiba is a VERY different game than the NBA. Respect the world's talent. USA should be favourites If they assemble Lebron, KD, Steph, Dame etc, but there's some excellent team basketball in FIBA.

2020 still was not a roster full of the best players Team USA could put together. I don't think you guys are understanding the context. It's been a very long time since team USA put the best roster possible together. The competition is putting their best of the best out there every 4 years. For context in Tokyo. Jerami Grant, Keldon Johnson, JaVale McGee, Zach Lavine, Khris Middleton were all on the team. The only no question elite US players on that roster were KD and Dame. If you took a team to Paris that was the best of the best only 3 to 5 guys on that roster would remain and only one would be a starter. KD, AD, Joel, Steph, Lebron. That roster is so stacked you'd have either Kawhi a two time finals MVP or Lebron one of the two greatest players in the history of the game coming off the bench. The FIBA game is not foreign. It's what the NBA used to be. The guys on that roster are old enough to have grown up and played at least part of their careers in a more physical NBA.

I don’t think you are looking at the bigger picture. They just needed to qualify for the Olympic competition. Steve Kerr did his job. Everyone knew the team playing in the championship in Budapest isn’t going to the same team going to the Olympics. I saw a few European teams missing their best players. Canada team Andrew Wiggins, Jamaal Murray didn’t play at the championships. Ruby Gobert didn’t play for France. He will be on the Olympic team in 2024. Teams were just looking to qualify and the teams on the bubble brought all of their players.

When you play Olympic and FIBA you are representing your country. That's the difference between being champion of the world and champion of the city you play for.

This is what I think about team USA, Fiba don't matter to them. They don't send their top players to play in Fiba WC so they can gauge the level of competition of the world It's like scouting the world who's gonna stand out or strong teams to look out for so they adjust, coz most likely world teams will have the same players in the Paris Olympics and that's the time they bring in the Big guns like what they did in last 2021 Japan Olympics. They suck in Fiba WC 2019 but won the 2021 Olympics.
