Your Grand Parent in-laws are a reflection of a better world, respectful, humble and modest, reminds me of my father, would wear a suit and tie just to go to the shops. When this generation finally departs the world will be a poorer place without them.
On the starting issue. Sometimes the neutral safety switch is out of adjustment. Usually just pull up on the gear selector into park and hold it and your switch will work. Or put it in neutral to start.
Dentside Fords will always be my favorite trucks. My family has had many of them over the years and they are very hard to kill and good lookin too. Very well preserved truck and im glad to see it come back to life
How I know this is my favorite Dylan Mccool video? Well typically I find myself skipping through bits of videos ready to see the final result but my southern ass cant get enough of the stories from the family and the truck itself
Thank you to the family and thank you Dylan for sharing this. We hear back stories often but we rarely get to hear the story from the folks that loved a car or truck so much that they kept it near and dear to their heart, a part of the family. This video is a keeper, one that should never be forgotten. Again, TY all to those involved.
what a nice old Rig, thank you for getting her running for the family, it's very obvious how much they love that old girl. I know it's not always possible, but hearing the stories of her past was very nice.
The format of this video is awesome. The way you work on it a bit and then insert a clip of the history of the truck is great. I know it's not every day that you come across a revival with so much history, but this content is remarkable. I don't give out likes lightly, but this absolutely deserves one. Keep the content coming.
Love them…my dad had one as a kid…use to sit on his knee and drive it…I just rescued a 79 F150 4x4 4 speed sitting over 20 years…fired it up after some tinkering and parked her in the barn ❤
Man, I just finished the video. I'd forgotten I had to stop about a third of the way through. What a fantastic truck. I immediately got online and ordered a few parts for my 1973 highboy. Needs some U-joints and I'm just gonna give it a little extra love. What a great family. I don't know what it is about these old Ford's but they really become part of the family. Like I said my dad and my grandpa had em and some of my best memories are in those trucks. I was brought home from the hospital when I was born in my grandpa's 77. Mom, grandpa and I rode up front and dad and grandma sat in the bed.
Great video. It's so cool to just see someone keep a vehicle for so long especially when it's not needed as a daily driver. Keep finding these treasures, both the vehicles and the people.
Really love the video as always, Dylan! Other than the few things you had to do, this truck was a real time capsule ready to wake up and get going! Loved seeing family members reminisce about the truck. Laughed out loud at your grandpa talking about the truck pull! To be honest I wasn't sure if I was down for a 90 minute video on one vehicle that looked so pristine but man it was worth it. I really, *really* enjoy your content, regardless. Don't forget to do some more livestreams so I can throw you a superchat. Everyone - subscribe to this young man!
That Truck is very nice. Loved just hearing them talk about it and tell us all the stories of what they could remember of the truck in past days. Dang near had tears in my eyes at the end of the video hearing them say last couple words about it.
Dylan, thank you for including the grandparent interview. I see so much of Harold in your wife! You cant beat genetics. Thanks for the content brother.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! The family aspect is always endearing and I could feel the life of the truck through them. Vehicles don't have life but our memories give them life. Thanks, so much, for sharing.
A lot of people talk trash about the 351 400 modified because they don't hold good oil pressure but I love em they run forever the blocks were cast with tons of zinc in the casting I have em in tbirds as well as f150 and broncos those motors were great engines
Dylan! This truck is a perfect candidate for Fluid Film! That stuff will get rid of all that surface rust and protect it for years to come. Highly suggest it! 2-3 cans ought to do the job! Spray that frame and under carriage!
You were lucky to marry into such a seemingly warm family. Take care of it because i would think all eyes will be on that heirloom they all built so many childhood memories with. Youll honor the new fam by passing it down again and remembering how special it is that they like you enough to allow the new hire to use the forklift. Blessed for sure.
Thanks for doing what you do great video, and a beautiful truck with a lot of great memories behind it. Nothing beats the smiles and joy you brought upon the family seeing her going again.
Man this one hits home, I spent my high school years in white bluff Tennessee, and the very first truck I scraped and saved for, was a 77 f150 that a farmer sold to me for next to nothing. Red and white two tone, but mine was a long bed camper special with the 460. I’d kill to have that truck now
Than old ford truck was truly a part out the family and thanks to you and Briai she still is So cool to here form all that family about there memories of using it driving in it and getting up to mischief in it 😅 And wow dose she sound good Nice one mate looking forward to more stuff like this
It was the family interview sessions for me. Awesome presentation of the vehicle and its background and history. Doesn’t hurt she’s a thick beast that sounds like God’s personal transport.
Another will it run easy style. Just needs the fine tuning. Fuel tank. All the normal things on one that sat for a time.Great video on the old truck going. And Drive to Bowling Green. Watch your video on the Mustang. But, Thank you very much for the work and sharing Dylan. 💯👍👊
Old battery was probably good. Just need a solenoid. Could probably flush out the gas tank with chemicals. That's one beautiful truck. My buddies brother had a 78 4wd manual 4speed And we put it through the ruff stuff, what a runner.
Excellent video Dylan :) & Bryer :) my area had farmer Don he was great to know on his 16 birthday his parents bought him a Ford pick up in 1/2 ton one was in super shape when saw in 1980's to ! Funny part he drove for only 20 years only ! When met he 1980 's he told truck year in Black is 1937 , he lots other Ford 1/2, 3/4 , 1 tons pickup from 1940 to 1990 years to plus colors, gas engines, transmission of Automatic , Manual , all 2 wheel most but 1990 was 4×4 and cabs too ! One year of 1993 he phone ask me help on farm haul some square bales drive his 1972 Ford F350 extended cab pick up was Blue one had 390 4V 4 barrel carb with hand choke cable knob in dash, lol had Coulmn Shifter Manual transmission of 4 in Tree with Overdrive of foward gears too never drove beforehand but he taught me , had 410 ratio rear gears ! That had lots power amazing and 4speed Overdrive Manual transmission is rare Ford transmission too had back then and if get try out you love it too! Sad in 2017 farmer friend of my family he past away and old 1937 Ford 1/2 ton had low mileage on gone Mesumn last heard not sure but like know but heard only got 15.000 miles on and still orgnail too even 6 volt positive ground battery on electric start plus crank start too and rest truck sold at farm Auction had to in 2020 ! But Funny part Dylan give Lol in 1983 my late dad , his brother on home farm heard was movie night at my Uncle farm house he invited us watch on big wooden TV with my parents plus 2 older brothers of mine and uncle also his girlfriend plus her 3 boys ! Movie if ever seen was called High Ballin' it Truckers Ontario Canada made one but in movie the one lady actor she had 1978 GMC 1/2 ton and for joke my dad also uncle need new pickup because old 1968 International 1200 1 ton was seen better days on rust box plus motor even clutch in rough shape talking in commercial break ! So they called up in weeks later also months see if find newer truck on price , single cab , V8 motor 4 barrel , Automatic or Manual transmission plus 411 rear gears in 2 wheel drive and basic model too plus need 3/4 or 1 ton for farm So in Fall 1983 a second hand vechiles dealership of General Motors called up found a good deal and when got to Dealership saw the 1970's a 2 tone Blue 25 pickup also my uncle & dad said maybe this got price on too like it in price range too ! So dealership sales rep came ask if could help us 3 out ! So we said yes and my uncle also dad bought it also got home to ! My dad said on way back to he said that movie High Ballin is funny and cool truck that 2 tone blue got me and uncle interest in also you ! Dad and uncle got learn drive to on home farm plus 3 others rent too! So in 1992 saw 1978 GMC High Series Serria 15 (1/2) tone blue want get in home area but sold for $500.00 beforehand get check out and shame to ! But 1978 25 my late Dad and uncle had was sold 1994 guy bought it was restoration it up last I heard before home farm sold 1997 ! Also Dylan for if didn't know in 1976 to 1988 GMC, Chevrolet, Fords pick up in 1/2 , 3/4 , 1 tons they used Firestone Fire Hawks Torque 2 Town & Country tires how know my one uncle was tire man for General Motors in truck in Oshawa Ontario Canada plant another one work at Ford Plant in Windsor Ontario Canada as tire installation too! They talk about Firestone tires and 1978 GMC High Series 25 Serria Scottdale my late Dad and late Uncle had on farms for years to were 950 /16.5 LT Load Range D and when had 1972 Ford F350 extended cab tow truck I own years need get new tire and funny part my late Dad and late Uncle ask if want brand new Firestone Fire Hawks Torque 2 Town Country of 8 them never used bought of them a steal price to only had installation myself plus weight also new valve stems to at my work garage too did part time too! So can tell you if find set of those Firestone of ones in Spare is get never say Lol love and put miles and years on them ! Sorry long message Dylan and hope have chuckle on to how Ford last long time too!
I just did some work on a 77 F250 with a 351M, despite being rated at something like 160hp 250tq, it pulls a lot better then you'd think with the 3 speed, the trucks are amazingly old engineering wise compared to even 90's stuff, the front brake calipers have no slider pins, just metal on metal, amazing it all works. Sounds like that thing got worked hard pulling trailers. Chev-Oh-Leigh, hee hee.
I still have my 78 F-150 Ranger XLT I bought new still runs and drives and kept in the garage. Also a 79 super cab and a 79 custom cab which needs a lot of work.
Nice truck. Glad you’re saving it. It’s probabably the nicest vehicle you’ve had on your channel. As far as the paint, you probably should use Maguires polishing compound instead of rubbing compound. The paint is still in good condition and I think polishing compound and an orbital buffer would really bring that paint back to life. Rubbing compound would be overkill, IMO. Also, address the rust issues ASAP, before it gets really bad. Especially if you plan to drive the truck during the winter months.
Beautiful truck I have a 77 f250 4x4 and those trucks are just the ones you never get rid of cause you will never find one that feels the same as the first love the vids keep up the awesome work
I had a 1977 Ford F 250 2 wheel drive. I still wish I had kept it and restored it. Don’t have any idea how many miles the thing had on it. The twin I beam front end was totally shot. And the rest of the truck was also. When I got rid of it. The front end was worn out so bad it all was sloppy lose. I went thru 2 engines same manual trans 4 speed truck trans. But it was worn out also. Never had as good of a truck as that one since. And I worked it hard, the bed was shot it pulled a trailer many miles. Odometer stopped working just below 200k. And I drove it many years after that. Hauled many loads of fire wood. One year of many it hauled at least 50 cords of wood. Love those old Fords. My Dad used to say you can’t ship a GM as far as you can drive a Ford. And he used them all. 😅😮
Dent side best fords ever made ! I had a 76 bought in fall 77 second owner ! 390 C6 9 inch ! Black on red ! Ranger XLT package ! Best of all short bed !
Very nice truck. I had a 79 F-100 short bed 2whld 300 six 3spd on column. Dad has a 79 F-350 4x4 351m . Love them both I have a 73 Chevy 4x4 hd 3/4 ton 400 big block. Gonna get another ford down the road. Keep up the great videos.
My father had a 77 F150 Explorer. I drove that thing around the western North Carolina mountains for years before I got my license. 😂 Seemed like there wasn’t much it couldn’t handle.
I've had 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive 73 to 79 Ford F-150 in my 57 years they are my favorite trucks I've owned. I had a 78 that looked like the one your driving same motor and color
I love the dent side fords I’m 27 now but when I was 14 a really good family friend gave me a ford highboy he bought brand new in 76 my dad and I tried to pay him for it and the only payment he wanted was for it to be taken care of and that truck was my first truck I ever owned and will stay with me my 3 year old daughter comes out with me and helps get it back on the road once again
That truck is literally my dream truck And trust me if I found that sitting in a barn. I would take that thing on home and restore it. And then drive it for the rest of my life.
I have an old 89F250 4x4 with a 300 6 cylinder when I get on the interstate I will fall in behind one of those 62 mph semi's to keep from being blamed for holding up traffic
The interviews with the family recalling their memories with the truck were really, really cool.

Wow that is one beautiful old ford. I had a 76&78 when I was young I miss my 76 every day
Adding in the owners recollections was the best touch I've seen in a long while! What a great idea for aa Run and Drive video.
Thank you to the family and thank you Dylan for sharing this. One of the best videos I've seen. Thanks Dillon for the video on the old Ford truck Love it.
Great video I'm glad to see you and Josh of sleeperdude hanging out and helping each other stay blessed
That trucks ready for a big Smokey red 22! Looks just like the Smokey & the bandit roadblock scene with ‘hot pants’ 👌
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! The family aspect is always endearing and I could feel the life of the truck through them. Vehicles don't have life but our memories give them life. Thanks, so much, for sharing.
I like the improvised wood mallet to work on the battery
Love how you did the family Interviews and history about the truck Throughout the Video 1:34:21 @Dylan McCool
Love the truck , have a 79 short bed w/429 bored and a 78 long bed XLT , dropping a 460 bored in it.
Can't beat old trucks !!
I really enjoyed this video. Such a nice family. Vehicles used to have so much sentimental value. Took me back. Thanks for bringing us along.
A lot of people talk trash about the 351 400 modified because they don't hold good oil pressure but I love em they run forever the blocks were cast with tons of zinc in the casting I have em in tbirds as well as f150 and broncos those motors were great engines

One of the best years of Ford trucks
Daddy ran a beast of a tire. Good old COOP Grip Spur.
You were lucky to marry into such a seemingly warm family. Take care of it because i would think all eyes will be on that heirloom they all built so many childhood memories with.

Dylan,
That truck is a beauty - thank you.
Paul (in MA)
What a beauty! In my opinion these look so much better than square body Chevys
What a great old truck! Love your tshirt by the way!
Awesome truck, looked so much cooler with the white letter tires.
I love that he wore his Sunday suit for the video. That's how important he thinks you are.
Just saw the truck reveal part and it’s already a sick video

Dylan, you are such an incredible human being,God bless you sir!
great video as always, enjoyed the editing with the family cuts .
You are a wild man drilling a hole in the tank with fresh fuel in it!
💯👍👊
That's crazy doing what that did to that tire I've never seen that before my life and I've been mechanic in for 30 years
That's a nice truck I knew you could get it up and running again keep up the good work Dylan McCool I'm a big fan of your videos
Old battery was probably good. Just need a solenoid. Could probably flush out the gas tank with chemicals. That's one beautiful truck. My buddies brother had a 78 4wd manual 4speed
And we put it through the ruff stuff, what a runner.
Very cool having the history along with the drive. Great video. You have really upped your game sir.
As a first gen ram owner myself, these are some of the best looking trucks ever made.
Beautiful truck. Hope to see a revival on the mustang we see behind the folks during the interviews 😊

Coolest story about truck
still drives also truck looks 100 % awesome
My girlfriend 1974
In 1977 girlfriend was 3 years old
1:37:35 so nice. love it. the family feeling connected to it. made me emotional
Beautiful truck I have a 77 f250 4x4 and those trucks are just the ones you never get rid of cause you will never find one that feels the same as the first love the vids keep up the awesome work
What a great video. That's real American History right there.
Heck yeah mustang in the background heck yeah looks cool
I had a 1977 Ford F 250 2 wheel drive. I still wish I had kept it and restored it. Don’t have any idea how many miles the thing had on it. The twin I beam front end was totally shot. And the rest of the truck was also. When I got rid of it.

I went thru 2 engines same manual trans 4 speed truck trans. But it was worn out also. Never had as good of a truck as that one since.

That there is one awesome truck in wicked nice shape, i wish i could find one like it ))
That truck is literally my dream truck And trust me if I found that sitting in a barn. I would take that thing on home and restore it. And then drive it for the rest of my life.
Pretty cool Dylan!!!!
Best episode ever!!
Also that looks almost exactly like Sam Waltons truck, the founder of Walmart. Nice truck
Love this video!! Thanks for doing this Dylan 🙏🙏
I have an old 89F250 4x4 with a 300 6 cylinder when I get on the interstate I will fall in behind one of those 62 mph semi's to keep from being blamed for holding up traffic
Great video Dylan. Thanks for sharing it! :)
Very cool project
I learned to drive a manual in my dads 1978 blue ford truck. Three speed on the column, 6 cylinder.
