That point you guys made about the small folk not really knowing the truth, is why I love so much the play in Braavos in season 6 where they re-enact the war of the 5 kings, only from a commoner's perspective. Ned Stark really is a traitor, Tyrion is an evil monkey devil who plotted to become king, and Joffrey is just the sweetest kid ever. That must have been exactly what happened in the middle ages... people not really caring that much about the rich but hearing enough things to know the basic outline, that history is written by the victors, etc... all in the time before even the printing press existed, and before adequate investigative techniques or the scientific method had been developed.
It truly bring home the point that knowledge really is power.

@@ZOD4 the way she acted in season 8 was totally out of character and I don’t believe she’d ever do it that quickly in that fashion. However, she has a huge god complex which is a red flag and I could totally see her eventually becoming mad queen because she believes everything she does is righteous and it’s clear she’ll stop at nothing to get what she wants. Basically I could totally see her slaughtering innocents, but not in the way it happened in season 8

Agreed about Maisie. A child actress, her first role in anything and she just exudes confidence in scenes with Charles Dance. It’s breathtaking. Arya has always been my favorite character since I read the books. No matter what someone may feel about Arya, no one can deny she is a true natural actress - she makes it look effortless.

It's not that I dislike Dany, but I just believe that Jon is way better suited to the throne. The only things that can really get in his way is a slight temper and not always listening to advice. But he listens a lot more than Dany does. Dany "listens" but then does what she wants essentially. Like Dumbledore said, "Perhaps those best suited for power are those who have never sought it." Jon to the tee. If Dany is indeed Nissa Nissa and Jon has to kill her, I want Tyrion to go be his Hand of the King. They would be the perfect match to rule Westeros.
I will never get bored of the Arya and Tywin scenes. I can't even imagine how intimidating it must have been as an acting newb to go up against a veteran actor. And she held her own, completely unbothered by it. I love seeing young actors work with older actors, they can learn so much from them.
Ariel Lann I feel like dany being killed as nissa nissa doesn't fit GRM'S feminist narrative. If he does nissa nissa I think he'll reverse the roles and make Jon the one who has to die.

5:00 Little finger is the impersonation of an overthinker, it just occured to me as you were talking. He has always a plan because he thinks about everything that could happen as if it happens, adjusts for the worst and makes plans for several of the most likely options. Thats also the reason he is hard to guess cause he always knows different options.
Small nitpick: Fredo was Michael's OLDER brother. That, along with his inherent weakness of character, was what led to his psuedo-betrayal in the first place. He was passed over after Sunny's death, and was never going to have a place of importance within the family, even if Sunny had lived. To double back on your metaphor, he's the Theon Greyjoy of The Godfather series.

In the books, Melisandra and davos have to get at least underneath the castle to have the magic work. I guess that would be her range.
Don't forget that the reason Cersei keeps Tyrion in the dark and would never trust him, is the predictions that she would die by the hands of the Valonqar. And for her, this is Tyrion. So she's constantly thinking that Tyrion is plotting to kill her at the first chance he gets it
I imagine jorah in season 8 episode the bells, fighting being proud and then falling to his knees giving up on life and danyreas and see the wave of flames flow over him.

She's just as smart as Tyrion (if not more so) with none of the whining, the only difference between her and Danny is that she doesn't lie to herself like Dany does. (That's using the books to get an insight into how they think.)

At the VERY least as soon as she learns that Lancel has joined them, how she doesn't seem to even entertain the possibility that means he'll inform on her to them is just absurd. granted, I'm talking just from the show, I haven't done the books.

I don't think it really stands to reason that Arya could have ended the war with three names and Jaqen. He tells Arya that there is no time limit on when he'll kill the person she names. If Arya had tried giving Jaqen Joffrey's name there's no telling how long it would take to plan and go through with killing Joffrey. I'm not sure if it was a rule or not but Jaqen also only took one name at a time; if Arya couldn't give him all three at once then she would have to wait for him to find her again after traveling across Westeros to kill one person. I think having the more controlled, more sure outcome, was the better way to use the names.

I never quite got the argument that Holdo should've told Poe her plan in TLJ. Why would she tell someone who's low ranking and was demoted for getting half their pilots killed? She didn't know that he was gonna try and take over.

Actually, King Aerys choosing an alchemist to serve as his Hand was considered an economical move as the Alchemist's Guild wound up discounting the Wild Fire sold to the Mad King. So while he was mad, he knew how to get what he wanted at the least expense.

this episode made me really think about what it would really be like ina fantasy world.. like, if you could wish on a star and pop into middle earth or skyrim or westeros, would you? and most of the time i would jump at the chance... but then something like this happens and my 1st reaction was "how do you stop that? how do you protect yourself against THAT?!?" ...you can train up to not fear swordsman or bowmen, you can be a master of martial skills, but the best sword in the world cant stop a random magic shadow demon ghost baby assassin

Jaqens speech patterns isn't even a faceless man thing, it's just because he's in the face of a guy from lorathi dude and they talk like that, the world book goes into it.
That's why it's funny she adopts it, it'd be like an American suddenly popping into a British accent or saying wanker haha.
And I love Arya's choices for the kills, it's so typical of a kid. Not large in scope, or broad planning, just people that are personally affecting her and in her own sphere
How the hell did Tywin not know she was Arya Stark? He knew she was highborn & northern, and that just doesn't seem like the kind of oversight he'd make. Been wondering about that ever since the episode originally aired.

Its not just that shes flawed. Everyone is flawed. She just doesnt make an attempt to try and be good. She trys to appear good but she doesnt attempt to be good herself on the inside and not just appear good. People give her a break because shes hot but na not me. She still undergoes the same analysis as every other character. I personally would follow Aria.
Quaithe is definetly the biggest waste of a character that the show actually introduced. She is so interesting and mysterious in the books and would have added a lot to the magical aspect of the show
