Great video. I forgot about those gaskets till I watched this vid. I remember when they were introduced. One thing I did to install those small machine screws and nuts, I would use a socket, but stuffed with some paper to limit the depth of the socket. Easier than using your fingers with those tightly spaced machine screws.
You put the little reinforcement finger plates on the wrong side. If you notice, they do not line up with the valves. Put the top one on the bottom and the bottom one on the top, and they will line up. They are not the same. Hopefully you caught that before you sent that compressor off.
I did catch this. this was the second video we did and one of the few I did by myself. Many times over the years there have been redo's and we usually tape them but not this time. I am still learning about the filming and editing. It might have been # 4 or 5 released. really great catch. thank you and keep me honest.
Thanks for your detailed videos. I'm rebuilding a IR 2475 with a date code on the tank of 1998. The original head gaskets were those graphite infused types you show in your video. The aftermarket (shipped from India) kit I bought has paper type gaskets (same gasket type for all locations on the pump). Are those the ones prone to blowout? Should I try to source the graphite ones for the head gaskets? Thanks!
Greetings Guru. I'm using this as a guide to rebuild a 2475. I assembled the high/low cylinders, installed the crank bushing and cap, and I thought I was ready to put on the body cover and crank cover. I'm not able to rotate the crank shaft 360 degrees; there seems to be something in the body that blocks the full rotation. The rotation stops in both directions. I'm assuming this means I've assembled the cylinders incorrectly. Is that correct? Both plungers are pointing down.
I just read the full version of your comment. I assume the plungers are the dippers on the connecting rod. how far can you rotate is it just short of going all the way 360 or is it much less. feel free to contact me through thecompressorguru.com

I am Guessing you have a connecting rod on backwards and the dipper is hitting the crank case . My best guess
