Solo queue is a large part in why I legt 2 years ago.
You get teammates that treat Apex like solos with revivies enabled, they go off miles away die and spam the revive button or turn on the mic to be toxic and if you don't they can just leave with 0 punishment or a useless 5 minute punishment.
Now you are stuck trying to win or get good RP and every fight is now a 2 v 3
      Solutions:
      1. Make the punishment for landing off alone and dying an 30 minute time out, you have to have the app open for the timer to count down. Keep it 30 minutes, if they do it more than 6 times in a month perma ban them. Straight up. BAN THEM. 2 v3 in an alredy sweatyy game is hell. HARDWARE AND IP BAN THEM. FRY THEIR CONSOLE IF YOU HAVE TO.
      2. Buff xp for kills within proximity, if we take out a team and we are within 50 meters of each ther add extra RP and or XP to those kills.
Trust me once they start enforcing team play and or severely punishing bad actors, people will come back or at least I will

As someone who has around 4.5k hours into apex from pre season, i stopped playing around season 17-18. I have tried and tried again to come back to the game. The major thing that drives me away from this game every time is when i log on to play and just get absolutely railed by a pred 3 stack every time while im just solo queue pubs. Like yea ive hit masters multiple times but that was years ago, me playing by myself isnt good enough to win against stacks. The solo queue experience has always been ass but it feels worse now and its the way the majority of people play. Respawn was way too stubborn about it being a "team game" and doubled down too hard on it for their own good. They really needed to improve the solo experience even if they truly never wanted to add solos. Idk, apex holds a big place in my heart but unfortunately its just not fun to play anymore.

    • @edwardchester1
      @edwardchester1 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

Yup, this. Always comes down to the solo queue/matchmaking experience being terrible. A lot of things have made it a lot worse over the years as well but, other than the first few months, it has been a toxic experience. Bad/horrible teammates, quitters, the massive advantage of pre-mades, etc, etc. Sure, other team-based BRs do suffer from the same but the high ttk and high movement/skill level of Apex is just so much worse.

One of the oft forgotten aspects of what made Apex great is the lore. There isn't as much effort made to drive the story forward anymore. I know of several players who stuck around because the lore was so good. The story also sold the value of the heirlooms, and universal ones (like the raptor claw) while cool further diminishes any narrative (and in turn, value).
Apex would do better at enticing new players by doing a show similar to Arcane. It has actual great material! Old players can be encouraged to come back by adding a season exclusive campaign/quest like we had in Season 5. The lore is such a goldmine of content being wasted by Respawn and EA at this point.

As someone who also has taken a very long (still on going) break from the game. I genuinely want to see the future of apex become better than it currently is. I know social media communities say otherwise but us 6+ year veterans don't hate the game or even want the game to decline in viewership and player base. But, as you stated a 6 year battle royale to even maintain almost 100k on just steam is still very much impressive. All points made in the video are 100% accurate from the casual community NEEDING a reason to hop on and stay on for more than a game and just return for a bit. Even moderate to very talented players need some reason to grind outside of eliminations and ranked, if I had an incentive to grind outside of the same red badge. To the heirlooms not feeling as prestigious anymore. Overall a very healthy good take on the games current state as per usual, W video dude and happy holidays

There just isn’t anything new to do for new players, or vets to do… I want modes like capture the flag or a whole map “war” mode 25 vs 25 across the entire map, BR is cool but Apex should be more than that… they a billion off this game and if EA had passion for it the Apex Universe would be insane

    • @Trailer_Park_Oligarch

That's because they use EOMM matching. Google it. EA has a patent on this type of matchmaking and its focused on engagement. Not balanced matchmaking. That's why you will destroy a lobby after not playing for days but after playing a bunch it becomes impossible to play. They use engagement optimized match making and they need to stop. It's the worst type of MM imo.

I love apex (5k hours, started season 8) so it hurts to see the numbers plummet and everyone get all doomer about it. I still have fun playing with my friends and goofing around, but this game NEEDS help. I want new players in the game, and for people to come back, but they need a reason or reasonS, preferably. Here are some suggestions I've had as a long-time player who wants nothing more than for Apex to thrive. Beware it's long but comes from the heart!!
    - Cool it with recolors and universal heirlooms. We need legend specific heirlooms back in the game! Fuse was the last one we got over a year ago. Why aren't they giving them to Maggie, Newcastle, Catalyst and others characters who have been waiting literal years? Maybe do one a season so they feel special like they used to. Universal heirlooms maybe once every blue moon are fine, but they feel lifeless by comparison. Heirlooms used to be special and made sense for a legend's personality and lore. Now they're hard to come by.
    - On that note, legend specific heirloom customization could be a lot of fun! People can match heirloom loadouts to match certain skins/banners. (Banner loadouts to match skins could be awesome too) A small thing that I think people would enjoy.
    - Speaking of lore... We need more interesting/fun lore! It feels like so many characters just don't interact anymore, like Wattson and Wraith! Have the new writers read Pathfinder's Quest? Do they know the shared lore these two have (and how so many of us have been waiting to see them get together cough cough). But maybe I'm just biased because I love those two. Also remember in season 11 when Ash pushed Wattson off a cliff on Storm Point and nothing ever happened after that? They just don't finish storylines! And now the lore feels stale and uninteresting by comparison. Not everything needs to be some big world-bending epic, either. Let the legends have fun, too!
    - CINEMATICS! Cinematics for Apex used to get millions of views because they were unique, beautiful, and special. Its been too long since we've got a proper story from the outlands and a subsequent skin. And remember when those skins used to be so prized because of their cool look and unique intros? Now they're just giving random intros to random skins like the black and pink Caustic one where he's beating the shit out of Ash for some reason. Make things more coherent and feel special. Hell I would even love cinematics of the legends having fun or SOMETHING. They build hype and look awesome!
    - STOPPPP MILESTONE EVENTS. What else can I say? The vast majority of the player base hates them. They are predatory and encourage gambling because you miiiight get what you want if you spend a bit more money! /s Bring back collection events where we have the option to craft what we want.
    - I'm totally cool with them bringing back old battle passes, but this system they have now is just GAMBLING AGAIN! Just let your players purchase what they want. Same goes for the store. Stop the bundles, let people buy whatever they want separate.
    - As for gameplay and content, I'm playing a ton more Fortnite recently rather than Apex because of the sheer amount of variety in that game. Fortnite is CONSTANTLY rotating things in their br mode that make it fresh and exciting, wheres I can't say the same for Apex. I'm not saying we need 500 different modes, but something better than just mixtape.
    - As one comment here said, let the devs be experimental! Your mention of an extraction shooter could be fun! Vary the skill trees, or something too. On another note I'm SO sad they cancelled the single player Apex-universe game. EA never lets us have anything. (EA give the game rights back to Respawn challenge)
    - Stop making guns/characters useless and then not touching them for seasons. No one likes an overpowered gun/legend, but also no one likes a useless one. Mozams used to be broken but now no one picks them up because they were nerfed into the ground. R-301 used to be ol' reliable but it barely kills anyone since season 17. Seer's pickrate is in the toilet. Alter just came out and she's like the second least picked character which is crazy. Do more BALANCED balancing and don't be afraid of hotfixes! Fortnite is always doing it!
    - Keep LTM's separate from the base game. You should be able to play the base game whenever you want. It's kind of crazy pubs is just the overpowered relic weapons and the EPG that does 105 base damage in one hit. I'm kinda sweaty so I'm mostly having fun, but I know being unable to play the game normally (unless you're in ranked) turns off SO many people. Just like the Final Fantasy event with the win-every-game-sword was unavoidable. Also you can't get badges in the pubs right now because it's technically an LTM. Booooo.
    - As many say.... matchmaking needs a BIG overhaul. As a 22k kill 4k 20bomb Wattson I shouldn't be put in a game with new players or even like level 200's. It's not fair for them and this is a gigantic reason so many people quit. They feel like they get destroyed and don't progress, so why would they keep playing if that's the outcome the majority of the time? Same as me getting matched into a pubs lobby with three-stacking multiple season preds.
    - And again... audio. I know you even said it in your video but it's a real problem. Is the Fortnite visualized wheel patented? Use that or something similar and the problem is basically fixed.
    - INVOLVE THE COMMUNITY! I know there was a mini sort of roadmap released that showed two community events, but there should be more emphasis on them. Do more creator made skins, banners, charms, holos, just fun stuff! And not JUST for the anniversaries, but all year round! Fortnite has creator-made wallpapers on nearly every level of their battle pass, that/other goodies would be such a cool thing to add and an awesome opportunity for creators!
    - Respect the Titanfall universe. I loooove Titanfall 2, and Apex should have more elements of the universe it stemmed from. There are still many fans of that game (as you will see under any Respawn tweet lol) and you would think Apex would have more of it from the game.
    - PLEASE DON'T EVER USE AI IN THIS GAME IN ANY WAY PLEASE GOD NO WE HATE GENERATIVE AI AND AI VOICES YOUR VOICE ACTORS AND ART ARE THE HEART OF THE GAME!!! I'm not saying I know its been implemented (besides that ugly Final Fantasy event trailer. i'll never forget) but we gotta get our principals straight, here!
My eyes are starting to get blurry from staring at my screen, but if I think of anything else (which I'm sure I will) I'll edit this post! I'm sure the community appreciates you sharing our concerns, I know I do. Again, I want this game to thrive again but it needs a lot of work.

TBH, you kind of hid the actual problem in your answer. Yes, matchmaking is a big deal but the movement is too. "moves like a monster" isn't really something that should be part of a team-based battle royale. It's not as bad as it was before they banned configs but the damage has been done to the player base such that you're never far away from insane movement players. Couple that with being shredded by aim assist and all the other considerations of the game kinda go out the window.

My two brothers and I started playing this game since Day 1. We loved it because it was the perfect game for us since it’s squads of 3. For years, it was the only game we played.
We were more casual players than anything. We all have full time jobs, we could play maybe 8-10 hrs per week.
As time went on, the amount of sweats in the game became too overbearing. The hours we could afford to put in weren’t enough to keep up with the people who casually put in 8-10 hrs A DAY. So we dropped the game. We haven’t missed it at all.

One thing I wish Respawn would care more about is the lore.
I started playing back in Season 5 because my friend played it and I was sick of only playing Fortnite during Quarantine. I didnt really play during season 6 or 8, but played during season 7 and got stuck around for a long while during season 9 and after. This was mainly because I got hooked on the story and universe. While you could find a character you clicked with because of their abilities, a lot of times people played characters because of their personality and voicelines they said. Playing Fuse and Maggie made you feel like a badass. Playing Pathfinder was fun because of his abilities but also because he's a goofy robot. Mirage has always been terrible but people mainly play him because of his goofy voicelines. Same can be said for every other character, as you could even find someone who is a diehard for Vantage.
I loved those little sidequests they did. I loved the Bloodhound quest a few years back, I loved Bangalore finally coming to terms with her brothers "death" in an in-game mode. I read every weekly little comic in game multiple times. I even read the ones that were on twitter only. It even made me go back and play TF2 story mode.
I literally watched every new voicelines video on update day. Because even one sentence voice lines for the characters I loved were cool
Now besides a half-assed and poorly written marriage plot between Fuse and Bloodhound, there really isn't much lore. They stopped those weekly comics, stories from the outlands, and other story elements. Kill code was awesome, but there's been nothing like that since.
Ultimately the increased monetary aspects combined with the decreased story makes the game feel hollow and soulless to me.

As a season 0 player and having apex as my first competitive shooter ever, I literally can't imagine anything that would bring me back into the game. Having a friend to play with probably would make me play a couple games, but with how unbelievably sweaty the game is, no amount of lore, free characters, free skins, hell even the return of the original skull town would get me hooked onto this game again.
Whenever I even consider playing this game again, I just feel crushed under the weight of toxicity and sweats. Maybe that's a PvP game issue in general but either way, trying to get into apex again is like trying to willingly go for a bike ride where the seat is a hot grill

  • @deykuzor
    @deykuzor 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +55

Here's the thing, Apex in it's current state is actually pretty good, and the efforts against cheaters really recently actually seem to have worked (at least in my region). The issue is the game is like five years old right now, and five years of playing the same game is going to burn people out. I would LOVE to play apex right now, I think it's the first time in a long time where the game feels consistently fun and playable. However, precisely zero of my friends want to even touch the game anymore, and while I can solo queue, it's just not fun if my friends aren't there anymore.
This is normal, the fact that people burn out of a game is VERY much a normal thing. I play Team Fortress 2 still. I'm used to it. What's abnormal is Apex cannot convince anyone new to join. The new player experience is hell in this game, and everyone who hasn't left has about five years of experience or is already interested in fast paced movement shooters and will just crush any new players who want to have fun. And I don't mean that we should dumb down Apex, I enjoy sweat filled Apex lobbies. It's just we need a way for new players to actually want to improve separate from the rest of the playerbase (and having 60 player lobbies is kind of a detriment to that).
Additionally, new games coming out really compete for getting Apex a new userbase. Why play a game that's five years old with a dwindling playerbase when the new shiny thing just came out. And MOST of those new shiny things won't last. The Finals is barely hanging on. New CoD isn't as big as it was. There are a bunch of other games that were supposed to kill off Apex that were so forgettable that I literally have forgotten them. Marvel Rivals may actually be it though. It's a fun enough OW clone with a recognizable IP it doesn't need to market and the gameplay floor is low enough where new players can at least feel like they're contributing even if they're awful.
It also doesn't help that everyone is saying "Apex is dead, uninstall bro". Like if anything is going to actually kill Apex, it's this weird peer pressure to convince other people to quit so you feel validated for quitting and not like you're missing out on something that others still find fun. I saw that with Team Fortress 2 when Overwatch released. The only reason TF2 survived is because the casual fans could use it as a safe haven away from try-hards and sweats (TF2 is super laid back. It sucked for me cos I wanted to play TF2 like a competitive game, but honestly, it's what wound up saving that game from being completely abandoned by the community).

I loved the lore of apex. With the slow back away from cinematics and less in game lore activities like the hunt for bloodhound, story interactions, that was my favorite part of the game. Hearing them interact and enjoying some gameplay with characters that made the game. But sitting in a lobby, dying early because I don't play as much, or just not having the same friends to play with. All of that drained my interest in the game. Seeing them put more effort into making money than producing content is what sealed it off. I haven't played in a couple months, haven't consistently played in years now. I still check up to see if there's new lore or cinematics because I love the characters, but the gameplay has been a struggle. The TEAMPLAY aspect is why Apex Legends will always have a special place in my heart. You are spot on with your suggestion that Respawn should explore ways to improve the 'Playing with friends' side of things. Focusing on this aspect is good for both the current player community and potentially bringing in new players.
Nothing beats the feeling of winning a game, or perhaps a streak of games, in a challenging lobby because of good teamwork. Or simply fooling around, playing hide and seek with buddies in the Firing Range.
Apex over time had various game modes that were helpful for amping the
    team experience:
    - Winter Express is a great way to practice teamwork and level up your fighting skills: Your squad needs to focus on the objective (capturing the train), and even if you lose one round, you respawn as a team (on the supply ship) and have another focused round of teamwork.
    - Arenas was a great way to practice team synergy in a pure 3 vs 3 mode - who is the better team?! No third parties swooping in to kill the last team member... We miss arenas!
    - Knockout LTM was a great way to practice your "end game" skills as a team, learning how to approach and capture zones.
    - Other favorite team experiences were 'Shadow Royale' and 'Three Strikes', were teamwork makes a huge difference.
If Respawn could find ways to improve the 'playing with friends' experience further that would be a big Win for the Apex community.

I started playing Apex in season 18 because a friend of mine told me I should try it out. I had never before played a battle royal or shooter game; I immediately fell in love with the game and since then have played nothing but apex. I am currently a diamond ranked player so not a sweat but not a casual either, I absolutely love apex but at this point I’m honestly just kind of bored. We had 12 collection events this year and not a single one featured a legend specific heirloom that wasn’t a recolor. I don’t think that Apex has very many issues, cheating isn’t very bad anymore (at least on xbox), the servers could be better but ultimately, I don’t think its issues that are killing the game but rather lack of good content. Everything just feels repetitive and expensive and I’m probably going to move on to other games after watching champs in February.
If there was one thing that I could tell Respawn and EA it would be this. We need something to grind for, something worthwhile, right now you don’t even get anything for grinding ranked except for a boring and repetitive banner and badge. They could do something like free packs for hitting a certain rank, or even Heirloom shards for top 100 players. We also need more lore, that makes players get more involved with the legends that they play and that was one of the best aspects of the game. There also needs to be something to make the game fun, like why can’t we have solos, duos, trios, and quads at once? The Buster Sword and Three Strikes events were some of the best times I had in apex, why can’t we have multiple LTMs at once? We also need a fun meta, literally right now Lifeline, Gibraltar, or Castle, are the only viable legends something Imperial Hal mentioned gave me an idea and I think we need a meta of overpowered legends such as in Marvel Rivals, I’m talking prime Seer, prime Horizon, Bang - Blood combo, etc, basically every legend in their best state and the tweak it as needed. That way people can play who they want not whose good.
I really love this game and hope it turns around
If you read this thank you. I encourage my fellow players as well to give your thoughts, we made them change the Battle Pass back so obviously if we speak out as a community the devs listen. I really hope things get better for the game and wish everyone the best.

And with new gamemodes and titanfall 3 esc. game tied all into one it would create an all new feel to the game and would draw in new players to not only the BR of apex, but also get more people interested in their other gamemodes.

I definitely felt the comment "if you dont play enough you get left behind" that is so true!! it's frustrating to leave the game for a week or two because of family or what have you, then you come back and everyone's way better than you.. which creates this homework type of feel like damn now I gotta catch back up... It would be so dope if the matchmaker was reworked to detect returning players and place them a bit lower or something.. because this game definitely feels very sweaty.

I recently uninstalled Apex for the first time since I started playing back in Season 5. I still follow the game pretty closely as I really like the core game and the lore/characters. The main thing that stopped both me and my friends from playing regularly was the “skill based matchmaking.” We are more on the casual side of players but we were still slightly above average at the game. We never played ranked, but I would guess we would have been around diamond at MOST And yet, every single game we got into, we would get nonstop Masters and Preds. Wayyyy better players than we were. It got to a point where we would stop playing for a few months, get excited about a new season, play 1 or 2 games and then get off because we constantly got destroyed instantly every time. We miss playing Apex, but we would think about playing it and it just wasn’t worth playing 2 games just to get tilted instantly

Season 2: We got a new legend, teasers for the next one, the Voidwalker event, the Labs and Gauntlet takeovers, Stories from the Outlands, Flyers and Leviathans added to the map, Ranked mode introduced, and a new weapon.
Season 3: Revenant teasers, a new legend, a brand-new map, the train, fake leaks (Forge), Mirage Voyage, Fight or Fright event, Duos mode, Holo-Day Bash, and the Grand Soirée event.
There were some controversies during those seasons, but the game still felt way more alive with all that content.

From a dedicated player since season 1: The game is so far from what it once was, but unlike a lot of other live service games Apex has tried to cater to every possible part of the player base and it has never really been satisfactory. If there's one good point about a patch there are three negative things, let alone if they even tell you in the notes that a change has actually been made.
Legend metas have steadily become more and more gimmicky and annoying to come up against, rather than being strong due to other factors such as choice of weapons, positioning/early or late rotation etc. Power creep is very noticeable and when the game moves away from having utility, to straight up fight deciding abilities that don't even require the firing of a weapon, the game becomes stale to play.
Weapon meta however feels like it's the best it's ever been, along with movement.
If there is one thing that made people leave, or stay, it's movement. Most of the time I simply return for the movement alone, it's that good.
Respawn as a studio has deteriorated severely since the days of early Apex and Titanfall 2. Apex was always one of EA's cash cows which is sad, it's got probably some of the best gameplay in the past decade only to be littered with several bugs and issues. Fact is they have had over 5 years to address the more important issues and have solved only a few of them, one of which isn't even related to the functionality of the game itself: playerbase transparency. Every time what felt like a good effort from the playerbase to make things known to respawn there was rarely any response acknowledging that there was a fix happening, or that they've at least placed it at a high priority.
Sad to say but the game is heavily addictive and once you stop playing you only look at the few good bits and remind yourself of the numerous negative ones.

    Apex has two major issues:
    1. EA has always focused on money - they are a greedy company that have zero problem running their game into the ground. It says enough that every other BR has way cheaper skins that arent wave after wave of recolors or that absolutely bone headed change to the battlepass (not to mention the multiple shards).
    2. Apex has become the most bullet spongey BR, which takes away the competitive aspect of Apex and prioritizes 3rd partying. Imagine if shields only went up to Blue shields - you would have significantly less bone headed 3rd partying moves because now you have to be more strategic with your health versus how it is now.

    • @edwardchester1
      @edwardchester1 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

OMG, so much this on point 2. Amazes me more people don't get it. Yes, there's skill in fast shield swaps and crazy movement to pull them off but it ruins the variety of playing styles/tactics in the game and massively promotes just waiting for a 3rd party. Also removes any jeopardy from a three stack red shield team just pouncing on any team with less than three players. Yes, having three players should give you an inherent advantage but just being able to basically steam roller any lesser team is lame.
I've said this since they first introduced Evo shields and basically only ever gotten grief for it. Arguably it has been the single worst change in the game.

    • @WhySoWeasel
      @WhySoWeasel 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

I would argue that the "bullet spongey" aspect of Apex Legends is exactly what makes the game great and stand out. Nearly all other battle royales or fps games cater to a fast time-to-kill (TTK), meaning you’re dead within seconds. Which takes away a lot of the skill in the game.
In Warzone, for example, it’s almost always the player who sees the other first that gets the kill (or the one with higher position, + guns have barely any recoil).
You can’t really outrun the shooting, nor can you take on a duo or trio as a solo player because there’s barely a chance for recovery.
By comparison, Apex does allow for ways to outplay (multiple) opponents with movement, legends-skills and gunplay. You are not instant dead whenever your are in the open or are seen first by your opponent, due to the Apex Guns having higher TTK.
Your point 2, of having only blue shields, will only make it more 3rd partying. There's no point to push as your better off waiting for other people to engage in a fight first, as you are more easily killed. The moment a game gets a faster time to kill (ttk), the more people will camp.

    • @KOTStream
      @KOTStream 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@WhySoWeasel I get what you are saying, but I have to disagree. The initial seasons where armors were more limited - the 3rd partying was distinctly less due to teams really having to think about if they could afford to take the opposing team in their state. Simply seeing a white armor team didn't mean your chances to win increased by 70% just because your armor level was several tiers above.
I do agree with Apex having higher health does add to part of the fun - I just feel like they need to scale back just how extreme the level of sponge has grown. It only gets worse now with HP regen on revives, easy quick heals for support and the fact that several legends have some sort of a shield related power.

    @pradeny6721 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

Hey Kandy! A little bit late here, but here are my two cents.
When they decide to make Titanfall 3, I’d like to see some slight improvements in the following areas:
    Movement:
    • Allow players to crawl, run, or stick to the ceiling (not for long to avoid camping) for more stealth options.
    • Let players turn the jump kit on and off to enable Apex Legends-type movement. For example: with the jump kit off, wall jump from one wall, then turn the jump kit on to wall run into a nearby building.
    • Make 90-degree turns on the same wall easier to perform.
    • Ensure that console movement can match that of PC, regardless of input. A large portion of the player base resides on consoles, and console players also want to be able to do all the flashy tech.
    Titans:
    • Titans in Titanfall 2 were great, but make sure that every Titan is viable (not all need to be overpowered, just viable).
    Balanced Changes:
    • Implement small balance changes midway through the season and meta-changing balance adjustments at the start of every season.
    • Don’t be afraid to change the meta.
    Maps:
    • Maps shouldn’t be too open to the point that pilot gameplay becomes impossible once Titans are deployed (like some parts of Homestead in Titanfall 2).
    Campaign:
    • The campaign doesn’t need to be long or contain an extremely detailed system. Just some cool, fleshed-out cinematics, an impactful story, and fun use of the mechanics.
    Utilities & Weapons:
    • New gadgets are always welcome.
    • Plate armor or some kind of gadget that can only be used once per life to grant a small armor increase.
    • A COD-like gun customization system (grips, muzzles, stocks, etc.). This will allow players to create crazy weapon builds, give developers more tools to balance, provide content creators with interesting builds to showcase, and give the community a reason to grind for something.
    Monetization & Content:
    • Focus less on density and more on quality.
    • If they bring in heirlooms or rare melee weapons, reduce the price to $80 or less. I understand that rarity gives them value, but making them more accessible would ensure more people can enjoy them and be more willing to buy future heirlooms.
    • Make it so you can buy old battle passes at any time, but for players who buy the battle pass during that season, offer an in-game title that others can’t acquire after that season. Alternatively, maybe the skins could have a special glow (that can be turned off) that only those who bought the battle pass during that season have.
    • Add events and change map themes for major holidays. For example: snow maps for Christmas, dark, misty maps (with reduced visibility) for Halloween, etc.
    • If a battle pass is implemented, make the season theme-oriented. For example: a cowboy season with a battle pass full of cowboy skins and a matching map.

This is really interesting perspective, thanks Kandy. I used to be a reasonably addicted player (without ever being good though lol). And one reason I quit and never came back is that any length hiatus would mean coming back to a game I no longer knew. So much would change every time (fixed or not). Characters with different abilities then what they originally had, maps that shifted constantly, weapons that feel completely foreign... All that to change the Meta for competitive players. I get that, and I'm fine with that. But leave some for the casuals like me. I just wanna decompress after work and get some quality game time. And TBH, it'd be probably easier to adapt to those changes with the community wasn't so sweaty. I miss this game, I truly had some of the best BR time on it.

On the competitive side, pros want their own input that benefits them because it is their career so its really hard to satisfy both the casual vs competitive player base. From someone who has over 5000hrs in this game and I've been from bronze up to masters a few times does that make me good not at all, but it was predominantly easier with a pre-made squad.
    Issues I have picked up.
I used to be on Xbox moved to pc, I made a new account on the Xbox for my daughter who wanted to play, and I thought let me hop on and see a new player perspective, 1st game on champ squad is ShivFps and another pred. So matchmaking is nr 1
Nr 2. Language barrier for comms
    Nr 3. Playstyle of randoms
Nr 4. Map rotation in ranked should be the same as pubs every 2 hrs change scenery, 12 hrs on a map gets stale very quickly
Nr 5. Stop killing legends, ie seer ( he was annoying to fight against but in this current meta he would have been good to combat the newcastle, lifeline res meta) ie Maggie ultimate is basically just a speed boost now
    6. Better servers, I am based in South Africa, closest servers to us are London and Belgium, my ping is average between 160 to 180, South Africa has 1 of the biggest gaming communities I have seen on war zone and fortnite where servers are closer, my war zone ping is 28 and fornite 80

I am someone who has played Apex on and off over the years, always being a more casual player. For me, thinking about playing Apex is kinda bitter sweet.
There are so many things I really enjoy about Apex and that make me really love the game, and yet when I actually sit down and try to play it I just simply don't have fun. I love the way the guns feel, I love the way movement feels, I love the level of depth and things there are to practice and master. I love a lot of the systems and mechanics, I love my goat pathfinder. And yet actually queueing into a match and just playing the game is not very fun.
Maybe I just don't like battle royales anymore, although I don't think its only that. I think respawn has done a great job at making a genre that is notoriously random and not very competitive feeling and making it feel very fair and skillbased. I definitely feel that sweatyness that makes it hard to enjoy myself as a casual player but I don't even think its that either. Theres just something about it all that doesn't click. Something that just makes the game feel like a slog to get through. Something that just makes me feel like, after the match is over, even if we won, I still don't feel better then I felt before I queued up.
I genuinely think I enjoy just dropping in the practice range and jumping around and shooting targets more. So many great mechanics and yet in the end the core gameplay loop just doesn't feel good to play.
Whenever I redownload Apex, first thing I do is load into the practice range, select pathfinder and just get my barings again. And it always feels awesome and gets me excited to play Apex again. Being reminded of how good this game feels and all the things I like about it, and also seeing all the things that have changed. The shields level up as I do damage now? There are red guns and armor? Skill trees? Wow so much new stuff to learn about.
Then I start queueing. And at first its fine. Im not winning but its my first games in a while and the game itself just feels fresh since its been so long so I'm enjoying myself. But after just a couple sessions of playing I find myself lingering in the lobby instead of queueing. Loading into the practice range for no particular reason. Basically doing anything I can do "play" apex without having to actually play it. I really want to enjoy my time in Apex but for one reason or another, I don't.
I very much so agree with your suggestion for Apex/Titanfall to spread into a new genre of shooter. I think that's exactly what I want as a casual player. I'd love similar gunplay and movement but just in a different package.

I played Apex from Season 0 through and past the pandemic and I have a couple thousand hours across multiple platforms. I played Battle Royale almost every day then took a break from the game for a season then grinded Arenas until it was removed. My biggest issue with Apex currently is that it has changed so much. The game I fell in love with is an entirely different game from the one I left so I can’t get back into it. To pick the game up I have to learn skill trees, a new respawn system, movement changes, maps, team sizes, and legends with entirely reworked kits. Because so many core elements of the game have changed, there isn’t really a defining aspect of apex I can latch onto anymore that distinguishes it as APEX. As sad as it is, the only thing left in my mind as a core element is heirlooms and recolors.

I'm somebody who used to play the game for at least a couple hours every day, I haven't played in about a year.
The game lost me when armour was removed from the ground loot. Despite putting in a significant amount of hours, I'm not a super great sweaty player, having the opportunity to occasionally get lucky and grab a blue or purple on drop made it feel like I at least had a chance to do well in that game rather than just being smoked instantly.
I also preferred to play slower, try to drop in a spot without other teams so I can grab loot peacefully, the removal of Shields meant that you have to drop warm-hot to level up your shield which was not enjoyable for me.
I remember the majority of the player base being in favour of these changes, but they were the reason I uninstalled.

I started playing Apex Legends in 6th grade, and now as a freshman in high school, I've experienced both the highs and lows of this incredible game that we all love and sometimes love to hate. Although it's unlikely, I’ve often wondered what it would be like to have a cross-game event between Fortnite and Apex, where Fortnite players would need to log into Apex and complete challenges for exclusive rewards like skins or pickaxes, though the rivalry between the two communities probably makes this idea a long shot. On a more realistic note, I believe that bringing back Arenas, introducing new legends each season, and creating more unique Heirlooms rather than recolors would breathe new life into the game, steadily growing the player base over time. These changes, though seemingly small, would have a significant impact and would require substantial effort from the developers to implement. Even minor improvements, however, can make a big difference in the long run, and I genuinely think Apex has a lot of potential for growth with a few thoughtful tweaks. Finally, I just want to say that I really enjoy watching your growth as a content creator and hope that you can use your influence to make a positive impact on the Apex devs.

I'm just saying...I just started playing for first time in a year because of Call of Duty being dogshit right now. And I am absolutely enjoying every second of Apex.

ive played arenas before, and the thing that really stuck with me when i tried, and more importantly what made me stop soon after, was how damn *quiet* it was. i mentioned it to my friends saying how it was most likely because in the BR mode you wanted it to be quiet so you could easily listen for sound cues, but in the arenas mode it just made the match sound really empty and lifeless.

Seeing the part where the returning revenant player was genuinely enjoying the game with the new pathfinder player was honestly really nice since I myself is a returning revenant player and I'm mostly playing it nowadays because my friend who plays pathfinder seems to find it pretty fun and we play it together
Our main issue with the game is 100% how everyone is like a thousand levels above us and how we find it hard to keep up, and it gets even harsher when solo queing but we do find the game genuinely fun and often even hilarious at some point, especially when it comes to maps like Olympus where we can box and ride cars and maps like e district since it's very visually pleasing
And even though we do get destroyed and peak like 4 kills a match, it is genuinely fun to play as we start to improve
But it is at the point where we need each other to find the game playable enough to go multiple matches back to back
And in my opinion, the one thing that would get me and my newer friends to play the game is definitely more just fun and not too competitive content
We loved the boxing place in Olympus, loved the cars and even the portals around the map
We need more maps, modes or just content in general that just explores more creative and dynamic ways of playing

Started playing Apex this year, on season 21, racked more than 600+ hours until now. I'm lucky I have a few friends that followed me to play Apex with and still play today, otherwise I wouldn't be playing it. No point in trying to solo queue ranked. Duo queue isn't much better but it's whatever. Huge learning curve for newcomers, felt that when I started and I came from FPS games luckily I'm stubborn and kept grinding to improve and feel like I knew what I was doing. I tried bringing other new friends and they gave up because it was too sweaty to keep up, so I think that the entry barrier might be too high (MM related maybe). I don't care about much stuff like sound (although it's awful to get pushed out of the blue without a single faintest sound queue), bugs, the battle pass shenanigans (CoD did the same on Warzone). They should have kept the solo unranked playlist to cater for people that want to play and have no friends playing and an option to solo queue ranked would be welcome too (20 squads of 3, all solo queuers). Would love to have an option to opt out of cross platform on ranked. No aim assist on ranked. Take a look at CS, competitive FPS, no aim assist, maybe a reason why it never got much players on console and the idea was abandoned but if you want a competitive side on a game I don't think you should have any kind of assist on any input. While it's an excellent BR game, certainly not perfect. One of the few things that drive me nuts while playing might be the servers tick rate (and on occasions you get a f'd up server that's lagging and desyncing for everyone even before you drop from the ship). It's god awful to have servers with such low tick rate while trying to have it be competitive. Fix the matchmaking, ditch the EOMM and get us a real SBMM.

Apex devs should give players more agency to revive team mates. An item that can be carried in the backpack which allows for a hot droppable respawn for 1 player without waiting for a drop ship would create less downtime. Think of hell divers or Halo ODST drop pods. It is such a buzz kill when your dead and have to spectate for the next 10 minutes of the match.

As an x veteran with 3k hours who very recently permanently switched to Fortnite, I can tell you that fortnite is just on another level when it comes to battle royale games for example when I play apex there is just 0 enjoyment after I play the game for hours and hours and I feel shit because I only had a 1 kd or because teamates/me were incredibly toxic, but whether it's because the que times are insanely long(OCE player), winning is so difficult, all the gamemodes are dead except trios, the game feels incredibly repetitive and lackluster when compared to let's admit a much better designed game, fortnite, hell they've even got an sbmm reset every season to prevent smurfs which I think is amazing, I completely agree with your hot take Candy, Apex needs to do something extraordinary and take a massive completely new angle at the game not just in order to peak the interest of new/returning players but just to keep it fresh and stop current players from leaving because no one is happy with the state of the game rn and in addition learn from more successful BR games and copy their small quality of live ideas, it's what Fortnite did and it WORKED.
PS. There is definitely a problem with the level of toxicity in the game which significantly harms player's enjoyment of the game, I learned this from Fortnite but your teammates should NOT be allowed to hurl racist and derogatory slurs at you when you make a mistake in a video game and make you feel shit abt yourself, apex needs to monitor the VC's and change the toxic mindset all the OG player's have, take a lesson from fortnite, even in fortnite's new valorant mode, ballisitc, I've got the highest rank and solo que up with/vs top 500's, even in that level of competitive play, the toxic trash talking is not even 1% the level of an apex pubs game, the toxicity is definitely apex's biggest problem right now, whoever said this comment I have never related to anything more in my life "For the past 2 years, when ever i tell someone I play Apex, I get an "ew" as a response."
You said it yourself Candy, the toxicity is a problem and I do hope Apex fixes it, for the sake of the game because I really loved this game and would hate it see it die.

I feel like with the new heroes, respawn needs to make every character actuall FEEL different. and maybe like, add more synergy between characters. like, make a melee focused character, make a character who can steal other players' weapons and abilities. make new game modes, add a game mode where you can't use guns: only abilities, grenades and melee. make a game mode where after a minute or two, players get trapped in huge chunks of maps and basically create multiple, smaller matches in a single match, then open those chunks and make the winners fight each other. apex has one of the best mechanical structures in all of online gaming, use it to your advantage god damn it

hi kandy i wanted to participate so here’s a list of things i think are important to highlight in no particular order!
    1. i’ve encouraged a couple friends here and there to try apex and one of the most obvious issues to me for new players is how much there is to learn because of the expansive legend roster. like, throwing a brand new player into a complicated game and saying “figure it out” doesn’t always work for everyone, so i’ll spend time in the firing range with a friend and go through each legend, showing what the abilities look like as an enemy. i don’t have any good suggestions to this other than maybe having a secondary tutorial mode new players can run through to see what enemy and teammate abilities look like. most people don’t want to just sit in the firing range going legend by legend to get a quick overview of what they’ll experience in a real game.
    2. i think something apex would benefit from is just something new each season that’s exclusive to that season. like maybe a survival item or certain weapon that’s ground loot (for UNRANKED ONLY) and is mildly overpowered just to create more interesting fights. i think the rift weapons were a really good step in this direction and i liked it a lot.
    3. i really think arenas needs to be implemented back into the game permanently, but not as a 3v3 mode. if they kept arenas pretty much just as it was but made it 4v4 or 5v5, it creates room for more versatile tactics. i think from what i’ve heard from fellow arenas enjoyers, the 3v3 just got old really fast because there’s only so many ways to push a team in that setting. and solo queuing a 3v3 was difficult too because if you had 1 teammate that didn’t participate well, you’d get demolished by the enemy team simply because the team would already be divided and could easily be conquered. i also have found myself wanting to play apex with friends but having a group of 4 or 5 that want to play, but can’t because of how strictly respawn has stuck to their 3 person team setup. i don’t particularly love the gameplay of valorant but ive turned to it very easily because its a hero shooter and i can play with a larger group of friends.
these are all i can think of right now but i was a casual player started in s9 and i stopped playing regularly last season because i just truly can’t play the game to have fun and relax anymore. repairing matchmaking and giving casual players an incentive to come back is really what im waiting on at this point. i love this game and its universe with all my heart and i dont want it to die. thank you for making this video ❤

I dont know what to do to fix the game. But ive been playing titanfall 2 lately and i love how it feels simple to do cool movement and getting kills that makes u feel like an insanely cool pilot, without actually having to practise crazy precise techniques for doing so. I know there is importance to practising skills to do stuff like that in Apex, but I think making it easier to feel like an in-universe pilot or "main character" might help new players get a good feel for the game and keeping it satisfying for returning players as well.

I think there are two huge (though not the only) things that hurts bringing in new players and sustaining players. 1) Not partnering with streamers and pro orgs. 2) Not having enough different game modes at the same time.
Smaller things, but still important, are lore, server upgrades, integrating R5, more collaborations, advertising, etc.
If they did what every other game does and include a lot of different game modes at the same time then people would be able to have fun no matter the skill while maintaining competitive integrity because there is ranked.

as somebody who started playing on my nintendo switch just so i could experience apex with my friends, i think that the hyper competitive community of this game is kinda what killed it for me and so many I know. It stopped being about enjoying the game and everything around it, but more like i had to spend way more hours than i wanted to so that way i could be on the same level as the average player. If i had to think of anything to bring me/other casuals back to apex, it would probably be to have a new/returning player queue and some sort of incentive like items or currency. Part of the reason i started to play war thunder was bc they care abt bringing their players back and reeling in new players, and i think it would be possible to do something similar.

The addition that would make the difference is adding a Halo 3:ODST style Firefight mode. Endless waves of enemies (like prowlers and other "animals"/creatures) coming at your team of 2-4 players. This way they could also add lore as it pertains to each of the "animals" and the arenas/maps where you battle the waves coming at you. So much fun to be had with friends! And all of the legend abilities would be relevant in taking on hordes and hordes of enemies each subsequent wave.
I remember for the fun of it, as a challenge, a friend and I tried to get to red armor just by killing all the prowlers and flyers and on Storm Point. We had a good laugh and it was nice not to have to worry about or deal with sweaty apex players that one clip beam you from across the map (cheating or not). A waves/hordes "Firefight" mode would bring that feeling back. Plus they could introduce new creatures and arenas every season.
