Great tutorial on creating the tufted top. I bought a round coffee table and have not found any good videos on how to create the tufting and keep the edges looking nice and not bunchy. Thank you. Can't wait to try this!
This is great! I picked up a round ottoman that is need of some TLC, I've learned more from this video than any of the other 10 I've looked at! Can't wait to get started!! Thank you
Great video. I recently found a set of 2 chairs that are perfect for a reading area in my home, and now need an ottoman. This project looks doable and now I can customize my own ottoman to fit perfectly in my area and tie in with my new chairs. Thank you!
This is great! It might be good to add some fabric-covered blocks to the underside of the lid, so it fits securely onto the ottoman and can't slide sideways when you put your feet on it.
Beautiful and very labor intensive. This is why it's just easier to buy, but I love learning how to do these things myself, too. I can't imagine how much this would cost to DIY build vs. buying mass made at a retail store.
you might be surprised! assuming you already have the power tools needed, it could very well be cheaper to make than buy. i found this video because ottomans cost a lot more than i thought they did lol. on amazon most round storage ottomans of this size cost at least $150.
Tell me you’re not familiar with how much ottomans cost without telling me you’re not familiar with how much ottomans cost. I just got back from Rooms To Go and saw something similar, but without storage, for $2,500!!! This is worth the build.
Sooo the lid just floats on top? It's not attached at all? Hmm. I think I would add some hinges so it doesn't slide off if someone was to play or sit on it!
OMG, if I could like this 100x, I would! Now, if only there was a tutorial for a half moon storage ottoman..perhaps someone could direct me on a good tutorial or how to use this tutorial to that.. TIA!
It's not a TH-cam channel, but a section in the ThisOldHouse.com website. (Look under the "More" menu.) There appear to be a lot of videos there that aren't on TH-cam.
Plywood and fabric is probably $25-$50 depending on here you get it. Cost of legs can vary wildly but you can make your own cheap using same materials and methods.
Very nice piece although myself, I wouldn't put in all those button holes. If you have kids they'll drop food it, puke in it, etc and you will never be able to clean it. Nice piece though.
OK. I added a letter that made it wrong. It's suit, as in lawsuit. From Webster's 1913 Dictionary Lawsuit (n.) Plywood, 2x3 and fabric don’t cost anywhere near $500. Those materials would probably be $50 tops if you splurge on really nice fabric. It’ll looks like $500 thought. The overpriced stuff on Wayfsir is made the same way or cheaper, and the fit and finish won’t be as good. Ask me how I know.
@@JohnJones-it3us the average Joe PBS watcher who doesn't have any tools or fasteners will spend way more. Need to buy fabric wood buttons foam and plastic shealthing. Hot Dogs this isn’t for the person with zero tools and doesn’t do any DIY. This is for the people out there who like to make things themselves and have likely already invested in tools. Having said that. Corded circular saws, jigsawa, glue guns, etc can be bought extremely cheap, especially if you buy used. That and those tools are not single use. They still have value and use when the project is done. I would bet I could start from nothing and still come in less or close to the same price as a comparable product from a store, and still have the tools left for future DIY projects.
Low skill but time intensive project. I can dig it.
Finished product looks nice.
Just amazing! I learned more on this video than I have watching hundreds of professional upholstery videos 👏🙌
I love how clear your directions are ❤

That is amazing. I’m moving to Costa Rica and have purchased old fabric. You have given me amazing ideas

Wonderful tutorial! Clean and concise!

Jason Goodman Or add another ring of plywood a1/4” smaller in diameter and wrap it in black fabric creating a snug fit..
This was SERIOUSLY impressive! Well done!
This is becoming mi faworite part on this chanel
This is pretty ambitious and extremely handsome. Thanks for the video🤗🤗
- Thanx 4 a great lesson with clear, concise instructions. GREAT job.
I loved the tufting
Absolutely gorgeous - this came out wonderfully!

I’ve been pricing ottomans and they are insanely expensive
It's easier to buy, but you can't always find what you want.

Amazing. Lots of steps but you made it seem doable
Going to wish I had an electric stapler during this one.
This one is just the excuse you need to buy an electric stapler.
I was thinking cordless.Yes for sure😁😁

She makes this look so easy I almost feel like I could do it 🤪
Awesome, a big thumbs up for the end result, and you. 👍

good video, i think a piece to secure the lid on the ottoman would have been a nice feature
Wow!!you’re something! I love it!
This is so beautiful! It looks so easy to make!! 😍
Excelent work!

That glue gun is awesome
Very nice
Does anybody know where to get that panel board? Thanks

What inch is the round board for the top layer
great job!
What size hole saw did you use?
Anybody notice the hole saw spinning in reverse lol
What are the measurement please
That’s slot of work.. I’ll just buy one from FB marketplace!
At the end of this video, it was mentioned to watch a different channel but I can't find it? Could you post a link to the channel that was mentioned?

i was thinking hanging chads!!

That looks great I will take one of those let me know how much it is
Steven Guevara $350
whats the price tag on material here!
Probably depends on what materials/tools you already have laying around.

lol i was thinking a cup holder for my beer! what do i know
Nothing against the content but this needs to be on its own channel.
Bet I could get $250 for that piece...
I’m not an upholsterer. Looks like you are dear
BUT you don't have to sew, which is nice.
Nice you working too fast.👍👍👍😜😂
Hi
HELLO
Thank you Alicia Silverstone
That is a plastic paint on that brick in the background.
I think that is actually very bad for a brick.
But maybe it's a fake brick.
We clearly disagree on the definition of “sew”
What’s your definition
@@Macron87 use of needle and thread to adhere fabric. So that long needle attach, thats sewing in my mind.
Very nice but way to involved
All the steps are pretty simple. There’s just a lot of them. Could save you $200 easy over buying something similar plus bragging rights.
Don't you need a lawyer to sew?
No!
You need a lawyer to suite.
English is a weird language when it comes to spelling.
The spelling you’re looking for is sue.
OK. I added a letter that made it wrong.
It's suit, as in lawsuit.
From Webster's 1913 Dictionary
Lawsuit
(n.) An action at law; a suit in equity or admiralty; any legal proceeding before a court for the enforcement of a claim.

@@scotttovey and here i thought u were talking about my cousin
To sue is the action, suit is the noun when talking about a case.
