    Hey guys this week I got to do a project for my basement I never thought I would be able to do. That is making a large round ottoman for my basement. I ended up designing this ottoman out to have storage to store the bedding for the pull out bed in the couch. I never thought I'd be able to make this ottoman because of the couch in my basement. The couch came with a chase and the chase really effected the layout of the room and limited what I could put in the middle of the room. After doing some research I was able to order a plain end seat cushion for my couch and get rid of the chase. This not only opened up the room but it opened up the possibility of what I could put in the middle of the room. And finally I got to build the large round ottoman I've been picturing in this space this whole time. I hope you guys liked this project and thanks so much for watching!!!

    I prefer an ottoman to a coffee table. I like having my feet up. Very creative project. Spectacular job matching the pattern. Love the storage, too. My ottoman my sister and her husband made for me 30 years ago. It's a rectangular box with feet. (Padded of course.) It's been recovered several times as it gets dirty or the decor changes.

      Me too especially because I always design out spaces with other tables to set things on. And that ottoman sounds well loved but I love that you can refinish it. I plan on doing that with my ottomans at some point. You know my cats just love to scratch them up! haha 😂

      Oh that's a good idea... maybe I had built it a little shorter. My husband and I can pretty easily move though when we have to which isn't too often.

    As always, a great job!
    A quick tip regarding the piping / cording; you don't actually need a very large piece of fabric to make bias binding, it can be done with scraps if you know the right way to do it. Look up some tutorials on here, and you may be pleasantly surprised 😊

    • @MaileyElaine
      @MaileyElaine  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much! and I've made cording that way a lot but I really don't like all the seams using the scrap or pieces that are long enough to cover the whole perimiter if that makes sense. I just like the clean look of one long straight piece. 🥰 Thanks for watching!!!

    I love how you envision your space to include form function and customized beauty ( those wabi sabi misaligned plaids are 🔥). I too hoped to find an affordable large round storage ottoman, but ended up thrifting a crazy assortment for my similar sectional, with a 3' metal drum coffee table, a 30" round tray table that nestles over the drum a little and 24" round footstool in TV command position. A copper garden stool and round crochet floor poof complete my versatile bubblescape arrangement. I'll be referring back to this DIY for an upcoming lv room renovation. Thanks!😻

      Thank you so much! I like the misaligned plaid it’s way more interesting. And that sounds like an amazing assortment. I love a good thrifted assortment that comes together so beautifully.

      I think I would just have to put the ottoman out more in the middle of the room and it's a tighter fit then it might look the video. I used a small side table as a coffee table while we had the chase. But I loved the chase for sitting it was super cozy. 🥰🥰🥰

    Hi Mailey use a peice of wool tie the wool to the middle screw measure the wool to the
    Size you want and tie a pencil to the other end of the wool and use a firm pull to the pencil and go around the wood❤🎉

      @MaileyElaine  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I tried that with the last round ottoman I made and it didn't go the best haha! But the measuring tape thing really worked nicely!

    • @MaileyElaine
      @MaileyElaine  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh you could definitely do the no sew version! working with fabric will help with your sewing because you'll see how moves and puckers and all that stuff. and my sofa came from Room to Go.

    How much did the materials cost to build this?

    • @MaileyElaine
      @MaileyElaine  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't added up the the exact amount. but it was roughly around $270 and that minus the fabric since I didn't spend money on it.
