I knew the guy personally. His criminal record is proof of him coping with being poor, homeless, and barred from the resources to solve those issues. He suffered from mental health issues and refused treatment. Overall, he played a stupid game that day and he won a stupid prize. But at least he's off the streets and put in a place where he can finally stabilize his life. I really hope for healing for him, and for moving forward from this life he created for himself by remaining a victim of his circumstances instead of rising up and taking steps to do better.
