Olympia is the capital of the U.S. state of Washington and the county seat and largest city of Thurston County. European settlers claimed the area in 1846, with the Treaty of Medicine Creek initiated in 1854, and the Treaty of Olympia initiated in January 1856.
Olympia was incorporated as a town on January 28, 1859, and as a city in 1882. The population was 46,479 as of the 2010 census, making it the 24th largest city in the state. The city borders Lacey to the east and Tumwater to the south. Olympia is a cultural center of the southern Puget Sound region. Olympia is located 60 miles (100 km) southwest of Seattle, the largest city in the state of Washington.

I fell nostalgic so much. My first foreign experience was here.

The neighhoods above the state capitol are gorgeous especially at Christmas!

Im form the island of Puerto Rico , wishing to find a better less violent environment and away from the Carribean , tired of the eastern Region of he U.S and wishing to move back statesides and to the west .. Olympia looks good for me ..

Did anyone, including Wei City Tour, notice a LOT of graffiti downtown? A lot of it was high up on buildings too. I mean it looks like a pretty downtown area, but is the graffiti indicative of a lack of pride or high crime or something along those lines? And is the rally at the minute mark indicative of the kind of people who live in this city? I was thinking of moving there but now I have some concerns.

@@farley576 Ok, RaberSaber, I rewatched the video and I understand completely why you made your comment. There are far more examples of wall art and murals than there are tagging. The murals are definitely examples of creative people, I liked them all and some were incredible. I probably should have said tagging rather than graffiti in the first place. I saw several examples of socially conscious graffiti which, personally, I liked. But there are some examples of vandalism where windows have been broken and boarded up, and even more of windows, boards and walls being tagged and that's what I noticed the first time. And those examples are not examples of creativity. On balance, I should have expanded on the positives rather than just saying it is a pretty downtown area. Absent, the negatives, I would say its one of the prettiest and nicest downtowns I've seen and would definitely attract me to move there. With the negatives, I still really like it, I just wonder their import is. Thanks for setting me straight.
