Olympia is surrounded by water and known for great seafood, incredible forests, and even...the elusive Bigfoot? Lived in Olympia when I was a teenager, many happy memories there.. Have to go back one day..
Lived in Olympia in the early 80’s , went to Saints Martin College and since then never stopped visiting the City. One of my best place in US, the only problem I have is the increase of the homeless people, drugs and crime.The town needs to address those issues before it becomes out of control.
I’m gonna be living there for one month this summer

I come from a small town in upstate NY, a couple hours north of Albany that is also known for bigfoot sightings. Whitehall NY.

Home prices and rental prices are insanely high here. While the downtown area looks good in this video, it has a very big homeless and drug addict population. Downtown was dying before Corona and it's not going to get much better. Really look at some other vids and do some research before coming out here. Many folks are talking about leaving due to the high housing costs and homeless. The city council is doing all it can to destroy downtown.
Be sure to do some research. This is a very nice feel good video but real Olympia has massive homeless encampments, filth, street drug use and crime

What you don't see in this video are the massive amounts of homeless people. It's gotten really bad here. Lot's of open drug use, needles and poop downtown, plus crime. We had a lot of fires in the homeless camps this summer. Downtown was dying before Corona and it's not getting any better.

IDK if I've told you this before, but your videos actually inspired me to start visiting cities in California and the Pacific Northwest that aren't typically on the tourist trail, that I've never considered visiting.
I probably wouldn't do this for other parts of the country, but being just a few hours away by car, I feel I can allow myself to visit these kinds of places. Also, when you're addicted to travel and have been stationary for a while, you start digging around in your own backyard and develop a greater appreciation for what you have under your nose.

Don't move to Olympia! The housing situation is crazy, there are so few homes available and too many people trying to buy them driving up prices to ridiculous levels. Homelessness though is a big issue across the whole country, not just Olympia.

I grew up on the west side of Olympia before Capitol High School existed, as a resident of Conger St.
We had apple trees, plum trees, cherry trees, nuts, and blackberries on the vine. I don't recognize what has been done in that town.
My grandfather grew up in Percival Cove and at 10 years old was rowing a boat to Squaxin Island to spend a season with a tribe.
Trees grew big back then.

Such a beautiful city with so much history. It's a crying shame the homeless give it such a black eye. The city really needs to do something immediately!.. P .S. Those masks are so reflective of a dystopian world. Seeing them is so depressing.
Just kinda nicely glossed over the homeless. Im 27 and Ive had over 4 brushes with death thanks to the local personality. Stay off fourth after 5pm and know how to read hobo code. 3 traingles means you've gone too far.
Don't forget all the lovely homelessen campments, boarded up business and graffiti. Also be ready for petty theft and watching drug use in the street. The effort to film this totally feel good video must have been immense as it is hard not to see the garbage dumpo Olympia has become.

I lived in Olympia for 40 years before finally deciding to leave. It use to be an awesome place to live but now the best and most fun things to do are watching junkies shoot up and staring at all the tents full of drug addicts while the cops do absolutely nothing. The open drug dealing is pretty sweet too! It’s so cool how they made drug dealing and possession “not an arrestable offense”. Is that the same as legal? Oh well it’s working out totally awesome for sure! Last time I was there a few months ago I saw a drugged out fat naked lady walk out of the woods into the street! That was pretty fun. The coolest thing is talking to all my friends and family who are still stuck there talk about having their homes and cars broken into or being harassed by junkies while they are out shopping. That’s pretty fun too! At least if you live there your son will be taught in school that he can “transition” into a girl any time he wants! Ya THAT’S not confusing to him at all! He was just having a blast hearing that! Even though the broad daylight public shootings are up about 100X what they were about 5 years ago, Olympia is so charming once you get past the smell of drug addicts and LIBERALS!
