- Home to Internet retailer Amazon, Microsoft, the original Starbucks Coffee Shop, and the Space Needle, a Monday night drive around downtown Seattle. Haven't been to Seattle in a few years. The waterfront looks so different after tearing down the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Enjoy!

Seattle, a city on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest, is surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen forests, and contains thousands of acres of parkland. Washington State’s largest city, it’s home to a large tech industry, with Microsoft and Amazon headquartered in its metropolitan area. The futuristic Space Needle, a 1962 World’s Fair legacy, is its most iconic landmark.

Seattle is a seaport city on the West Coast of the United States. It is the seat of King County, Washington. With a 2019 population of 753,675, it is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America. The Seattle metropolitan area's population is 3.98 million, making it the 15th-largest in the United States. In July 2013, Seattle was the fastest-growing major city in the United States and remained in the top five in May 2015 with an annual growth rate of 2.1%. In July 2016, Seattle ranked as the fastest-growing major U.S. city, with a 3.1% annual growth rate.
Seattle is situated on an isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington. It is the northern largest city in the United States, located about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canadian border. A major gateway for trade with northern Asia, Seattle is the fourth-largest port in North America in terms of container handling as of 2015.
The Seattle area was inhabited by Native Americans for at least 4,000 years before the first permanent European settlers. Arthur A. Denny and his group of travelers, subsequently known as the Denny Party, arrived from Illinois via Portland, Oregon, on the schooner Exact at Alki Point on November 13, 1851. The settlement was moved to the eastern shore of Elliott Bay and named "Seattle" in 1852, in honor of Chief Si'ahl of the local Duwamish and Suquamish tribes. Today, Seattle has high populations of Native, Scandinavian, Asian American and African American people.
Logging was Seattle's first major industry, but by the late 19th century, the city had become a commercial and shipbuilding center as a gateway to Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush. Growth after World War II was partially due to the local Boeing company, which established Seattle as a center for aircraft manufacturing. The Seattle area developed into a technology center from the 1980s onwards with companies like Microsoft becoming established in the region; Microsoft founder Bill Gates is a Seattleite by birth. Internet retailer Amazon was founded in Seattle in 1994, and major airline Alaska Airlines is based in SeaTac, Washington, serving Seattle's international airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The stream of new software, biotechnology, and Internet companies led to an economic revival, which increased the city's population by almost 50,000 between 1990 and 2000.
Seattle has a noteworthy musical history. From 1918 to 1951, nearly two dozen jazz nightclubs existed along Jackson Street, from the current Chinatown/International District to the Central District. The jazz scene nurtured the early careers of Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Ernestine Anderson, and others. Seattle is also the birthplace of rock musician Jimi Hendrix, as well as the origin of the bands Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, and the alternative rock movement grunge.
Those lit trees make the sideways look so beautiful
Why does absolutely everywhere look so much better than where I live?
Same here, and the worst part is I dont have enough money to travel 😭🤣
Where do you live then?
Because that's your intuition speaking to you and telling you to move! I'm from Nashville so I know how it feels! Haha
@@Kurooo49 same here 😀
How come it is worse there?
god despite what I say sometimes the city of seattle itself, downtown and all, will always have such a pretty place in my heart. I grew up here and yes the people can be annoying and uptight but INSIDE the city is one of the most accepting free places I’ve been. you can do absolutely whatever you want say whatever and no one minds a bit cause that’s seattle. walk as you please cause at the end of the day seattle ppl know you basically always have the right of way. smoke a joint down the pier people will probably just smile at you. Roller skate around the space needle skateboard down the streets, walk around Chinatown ride on the Ferris wheel get food at pikes place etc etc everywhere in seattle is walkable / bikeable you got a days worth of fun right at your feet. Not to mention it’s culture, architecture, history, and simply how pretty of a city it is. Seattle really is lovely.
hit that Little Coneys down there at Golden Gardens!!
yes either Maple or Green River
Kerry Park: Best view in the World.
yes you can say whatever you want as long as they agree with it. if they don't agree w you then they will burn you at the stake lol
@@tumblergal You must be thinking of somewhere else. I've lived here since '73.
Moved away two years ago and this was the ASMR I didn’t know I needed 😭💛
The power of relaxing ASMR ambiance is understated
Nobody talks about Seattle in my opinion. But I think it is the most underrated city in us and has one of the most unique skylines in the USA.
Out side Seattle is beautiful, but in Seattle, it was beautiful but not so much anymore in the past 10 years
@@whyunotlike2688 Its not that bad come on! Haha
Absolutely. Visited for the first time last month and was blown away by the size and modernness of downtown. I live in Austin and I thought we were ahead of the curve but Seattle is another level
@@bryantworthing2215 to visit is one thing, living your whole life and seeing the city decaying every minute of the day is depressing.
@@LatestSquash city of Seattle is nothing to brag about, but outside of that is a different story. It is a beautiful state OTHER than city of Seattle.
Most clean and beautiful developed city in the USA. I’m from Vancouver and visit all the time before COVID closed the border
Vancouver BC is very nice as well. I missed it too since border closed...so sad this pandemic caused
@@alfredemma71 Blame the idiots who believe in Covid. This hoax didn't have to happen.
one of the most beautiful city in the USA 🇺🇸
The city that keeps on building higher and higher. Can't wait for the waterfront to be completed!
Seattle seems so cool! Nice driving video as usual, you are leading us lovers of the road.
Your videos relaxes me man....thank you!
The city is beautiful, I liked everything I saw - streets, decorative lighting, architecture, shop windows, people on the move, vehicles in traffic. Contradictions are especially impressive - wealth, splendor, luxury versus poverty of people living in tents on the street, it's all part of life. The city attracts with its special energy and spirit, which cannot be resisted. I am thrilled with everything I have seen and experienced as if I am where I belong. Extraordinary impressions. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful experience. Best regards from Belgrade, Serbia. 👨✌🏻💜
Thank you very much.😊
Glad to have something to take me home
I love Seattle's trolley buses
Seattle was always a hidden gem growing up here u cherished in knowing that. Seattleites know what I mean. Although I love the new infrastructure and gentrification. Being an OG can make u look back to going out to see live bands, Holiday baristas jobs downtown seattle before the infamous Starbucks. Walking down some blocks feeling like you were in NY. Weekend cabin getaways to Snoqualmie Pass snowmobiling crashing into trees after bonfire drinking Jagermeisters ( will never forget seeing the missed cliff next day) lol. Some of the most beautiful parks in USA. U knew you were living somewhere special and sometimes you just smile knowing that.
One of the things that connect folks from West & East side are those weekend trips somewhere in Snoqualmie or anywhere else In the cascades!
To travel is to live........keep looking for new places and give us great videos like this!!!!!
I never knew Seattle is sooo beautiful...woooooow
Best city ever. Was there last month.
Thanks
@@JJarone can I have your house
Love Seattle. We were there in 2019 and wished we were doing TH-cam drive videos back then. We've been all over the city.
@wee woao stfu
Seattle is a great city. Would love to live there in the near future
Wow! Very cool. I lived, worked, went to school and had my first date with husband to be (29 years ago at the paramount!) all in the area you drive around. Moved away 25 years ago. Some of those places are still there. So much has changed, too. Thx for the video!
Few days back I searched for this Seattle tour video hoping I would find it on your channel. What a coincidence! Great content!
Love your driving videos especially in the Maryland and California area. But I'm absolutely enjoying this Seattle video. I hope so much to visit Seattle one day. thanks for the tour!
Thanks for showing me what I will prob never see in person.
Why not tho?
Don't think like that!
It's along way away and I'm old.
I’m from Yakima, Washington. I go to Seattle and Portland often but feel like I’ll never be able to see Chicago, Milwaukee or Miami soon. But I have a lot of fun in Seattle and Portland! An before that I loved the locals basketball courts and bars. Just appreciate what’s there & wish for the rest 😎 lol
In person kinda looked like In prison
I watched the whole video before I realized the viaduct was gone! I lived in SEA for many years, the viaduct was just part of the landscape, no wonder I thought the waterfront looked cleaner than usual. Great video, next time take a drive out to West Seattle during sunset, best skyline shots from there.
I visited there in 2017 and saw it being torn down in 2019
I really enjoyed Seattle twice!!🌾🐚🌊
Thank you so much for the video. I wanted an updated view of the construction project across from the Camlin and you gave me the look. I will be there in September 2021, so now I know what to expect. You did an amazing video for people who have never been to Downtown Seattle. Thanks again for sharing.
Congratulations on 500,000 subscribers! 🥳
Thank you!!
Haven't been up to Seattle in a couple of years. Nice to see these streets and scenery again
Woooaah never thought you would ever be in my city!
Too bad we couldn't take them to some other dope spots! Born and raised here myself!
An evening road trip, passing by major junctions of Seattle gives a clear impression of the city.
Wow, they sure did rebuild quickly. I was told Seattle was burned down last year lol. Looks like Portland got rebuilt instantly too. Weird.
Thanks for the drive. I'm planning on taking a cross-country train trip to Seattle from Philadelphia next month. This gives me a great glance on what to expect here
Oh god this makes me miss Seattle even more now! This is a great video thank you.
I currently live in Canada and my goal is to move to the USA. watching these videos is somehow making me feel prepared lol
Where in Canada?
Why USA and not Vancouver Canada or any other city in Canada what did you find better compared to he two countries ? Also is seattle as similar to Vancouver and what about student life, #Considering all points like students, universities, future, jobs, salaries, safety, family weather, cost , houses, friendly people , great life and a balance ? Where which city ??
Finally a new Seattle drive video! 😃
glad to see the tents by the parking lot I use for work at 4:03 are still there
Seattle is a good looking city
I just flew back to San Diego after visiting my sister in Seattle and seeing the Olympic peninsula. Wow. Seattle is a highly underrated city that seems to get a lot of hate. I visited for a week and most people where friendly. I’m definitely trying to move there now.
there's naysayers everywhere. They get louder the more people like something
I moved from San Diego to Seattle 6 years ago. But I recently moved out to a Suburb of Seattle.
@@HOTPLATEGAMING Im trying to move to a seattle suburb
I've always wanted to live there, hopefully within the next few years I can find a job there.
Why #Seattle and not #Vancouver Canada or any other city in Canada that you liked and WHAT other city is like Seattle ?? what did you find better compared to the other places? Also is seattle as similar to Vancouver and what about student life, #Considering all points like students, universities, future, jobs, salaries, safety, family weather, cost , houses, friendly people , great life and a balance ? Fantastic road trip through a beautiful city 💛💛 Thank you for sharing your impressions with us 🙏🙂👍
I enjoyed watching the street view as you drive by. Thanks J Utah for sharing.
Buen video. Bella ciudad con recovecos. No pude determinar de dónde venía el tren.
How beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us! Always happy to experience your videos!
It made me feel like I was driving through Seattle. Thanks for the great video.
Great video. Yes, the waterfront is completely different without the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Its under major construction now, to rebuild the area into a park/street.
I remember the days back in ‘96-‘00 I frequent that place working in Alaska fishing industry. That’s the last time I’ve been there wow. Lots of memories.,still looks clean and beautiful as always.
Everybody mentions that seattle is expensive (like other cities aren't lol) but they don't mention that min wage is 17 bucks an hour and you absolutely do not need a car
They didnt mention that Durkan and the rest of the city officials are a bunch of corrupt lefties.
Loveeeee This City ❤️❤️
Is it just me or is seattle.on the west coast
How did you even come up with this idea? It’s truly awesome. Thank you sooo much.
I miss Seattle. Thank you !
Amazing quality. I can smell the city.
I am from Malaysia and I haven't been to the USA and I hope to visit the USA soon. Thanks for showing us the place!
Wow. Stylish and very clean. Coming as soon it's allowed. To Everett to see the Boeing plant.
You need to be the Google Earth street car guy.
If you want you can be my valentine
Seattle is the NYC of the west
Love Seattle. I just wish it would stop growing.
I agree. The waterfront is so much nicer now after that great wall was demolished.
I always take the Amtrak Cascades train up from Portland to get there. The traffic is like hell.
love it! feel like I'm exploring the city right there with you.
Man, I love this city! ❤
Thank you for visiting my city hope you like it🙂
I always wanted to visit your city, hopefully one day.
@@ChristianGal23_ trust me you got time everything will be the same lmao everything good here no racists people or nothing but if you go to kent whole different story 😂

I don't think I've ever seen Seattle like this before. It's a very nice city. I didn't know it had a monorail either. That's pretty cool.
Love the sunset drive
Linda cidade, translate, beautiful City!
*_*Seattle, the Emerald City, is a bustling urban hub, surrounded by the magnificent beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Seattle’s rich cultural history includes contributions from the Native peoples as well as the Scandinavian, African American, Asian, and Latino people who were later drawn by th_*_ e city’s booming economy._*
Which city in the US you liked better ? Have you seen Wisconsin Milwaukee etc and Chicago too ?? What about Canada ????
I didn't know Seattle was popping like that definitely will be visiting soon.
Seattle was my first place from Narita, in 1985. Only transit. First time to get even an airplane, first time to go abroad, actually the landing needed the second chance might be due to some kind of troubles or something. And first time to try to speak English with the immigration. Spent a whole year in the States and came back.
*_Nice video! Seattle is much different from Hong Kong._*
Wow I love this video. But I truly miss your Texas cities driving videos, I love those videos of sunny days in Houston that you used to do.
Can you show the skyline before you drive downtown? One of my favorite things about traveling is seeing the skyline of a new city for the first time.
That's a great point. Great feedback. Thanks!
Awesome driving tour enjoy your trip thanks for sharing love from Southeast Asia 💕🌏

Dude you should drive into downtown Seattle from Bellevue on the 520 bridge over Lake Washington, one of the prettiest urban drives in my opinion.
Good to see it doesn't look like LA yet with tents on every block
Welcome Back To Seattle, Washington!!!
Seattle is HUGE!
Such a lovely place
Thanks for sharing.
It feels like it's permanent Christmas time there.
It definitely does. 😂
doesn't feel like that when you live here tho.
