Shout out to all the people who not just have to remember all those rules and signs and correct behavior on the roads, but also all the potholes and faded paint road markings ✌️
This was exactly why I failed my test last week. The said it was use of mirrors. Also had 3 minors for bad junction observations. If only I had seen a video like this. Thanks a lot for this video as I will adopt it during my test reseat.
I was at Tesco with my Son this afternoon, he's a Driving instructor. It was hilarious watching all the people "abandoning" their cars, then a Learner comes in and gets it spot on first go. I couldn't do a mock test in London I'd have a heart attack! I can just about cope with Edinburgh.
I LOVE driving, and I'm a member of both IAM and RoSPA, and completetly agree with Chris about the importance of checking DURING your maneouver as well as before it. Even at 20mph, cars cover a lot of distance in a second, so the car that 'wasn't there' a moment ago could be visible to you if you do additional checks.
My test is coming up in 2 weeks and I'm losing my mind with nerves. My main issue used to be clutch control. I conquered that, now the biggest battle is mental preparation: observation, planning and mainly remembering to do these things. However after 20 hours i see the amazing progress i made and am feeling much more confident and definitely can see improvement thanks to your videos, which made me analyze what I'm doing wrong and most importantly why I'm doing it. Will come back in 2 weeks time with the test result.
Completely forgot to come back, sorry guys. Unfortunately it was a fail. Dangerous fault: observation junctions. It was right out of the gate, i failed to look left last time before committing. Nerves got me and the fear I'd be failed for hesitation for waiting almost 10 minutes but it was a busy road, we were good, i just didn't know what to expect from the examiner. Also a serious for 3 hesitations (on the same road within 50m) with oncoming traffic, i let them pass while waiting behind parked cars but i could've gone, i decided to play it safe because I didn't trust myself. Overall very informative experience, I'm about to buy myself a car and drive with a colleague to work and back for the extra experience which is what i need to do better as my instructor also said I'm ready for that, and there isn't much he can teach me at this point, just need experience.
I’ve failed twice, first time I’ve been extremely nervous and I failed in traffic lights and 1 minor , the examiner was very nice person and friendly, second time 1 serious fault for cutting corners , 5 minors ,the examiner wasn’t friendly and very picky, she didn’t even say better luck next time, it’s been very disappointing failing for silly mistakes 😢😢
Please you keep saying don't stare at the mirrors during manoeuvre. But i use my left mirror as a reference when doing reverse parking especially at the beginning of the process, will that not be a potential problem for me as the examiner may misunderstand it me staring in the mirror

'There's no pressure to go'
And that folks is the number one lesson to remember when waiting at a junction.

How many hours u do
I took 21 hours with an instructor and then started having more private hours in my car, which really helped boost my confidence.
