17:15 - where the game was lost. The Terran accidentally move-commanded instead of stutter-stepping, leading to immense army losses. Otherwise he was just killing the toss. But wait... he was actually still with chances, until 21:12.... MY EYES !!!
The terran here shows an impressive representation of "I will get there no matter the cost" on every offensive he ever did. His plan to attack the nexus for exemple, succeeded and failed at the same time : The goal : Reach the Nexus with my army.(He succeeded) What actually happened : he lost everything by trying so hard to reach his goal. Also his army composition is akin to having a bucket of terran units and dumping it on the floor and build whatever comes out. Turns out, he had only 3 medivacs in his bucket filled with marine/marauder.
A super insightful moment in this game happens at 21:05 video time that really shows the difference between a pro player and a regular Joe. P has just lost 2 colossus for free a few moments earlier. That's obviously bad. But it wasn't super bad, because the rest of the army was not immediately at risk as a result of losing them. The real fight was still a few seconds away. At 21:05 Harstem gets a lot more interested when watching that flank coming in. That's his focus. Meanwhile, T is focusing on taking out the base. Harstem notes the flank coming several times, reinforcing where the focus should really be. A moment later we see why, and here's the key point: Harstem reacts with a desperate groan *before* the storms are cast. Before! Because of his experience, he knows what's about to happen. And unlike the loss of the colossus, this *is* a critical moment, because the whole terran army is put in danger because of the way it moves, and indeed the whole terran army gets wiped out by the combined splash damage of the colossus on the high ground (now lasering with absolute impunity because the tanks were left undefended) and the psi storm that the terrain practically begged to be cast. Notably, Harstem wasn't saying "this is a bad attack, strategically". No, the attack could have been fine. The problem was the specific micro in response to the specific situation. The rush of blood to kill a base, the loss of situational awareness. My intention here is not to say "the Joe should have seen this coming the way Harstem did". No, Harstem is a pro player with orders of magnitude more experience. I just think it's a perfect example of just how much more is going on in the mind of a pro player.
It's actually a classic diamond/platinum Terran move in TvP. HA! FREE BASE! NEED TO KILL!!! And usually they trade an army for a base. One time I asked a Terran what did he trade the army for. The answer was - don't know. I am shocked by this, because this was a thing in WoL, HotS and still is 10 years later in LotV. Same with drops, they trade the drop for low damage. Like this replay had it all - sacrificial useless late drop. Had he returned with few killed probes, it would be a good damage. But nah, let's sacrifice the drop into the main because reasons! :)
what I find very unique and outstanding for this episode of IODIS is that, aside from many other SUCKy aspects of his play, the Terran actually had a pretty solid macro and unit composition and adaptation. If not for hs terrible unit control and several illogical decisions/engagements, he actually played on the level of someone at least 1000 MMR higher.
When I watch these videos I'm always amazed at the obvious mistakes and lack of control... then I remember that I'm in a much lower league than the person submitting the video and that I must be way worse than they are at this game.
This was a masterpiece, I couldn't stop laughing, I had to rewind so I could actually learn something. much love to the comedy, and Hamster's really adding to the entertainment value and intellectual with actual research. I appreciate the explanation of why something such as a position is bad.
One game alone will never be enough to prove imbalance. Also, absolutely everyone has room to improve and "sucks" to some degree. IODIS could be renamed "How Everyone Sucks".
Man, a lot of these terrains complaints boil down to two things: either sheer incompetence or the lack of foresight. Terrans are getting themselves into uncomfortable positions then try to fix their mistake by overmicroing a lot of moving parts. It's better if I ilustrate this with a Harstem Analogy: Imagine that a Terran is playing Tennis and his opponent is about to serve to start the game. Instead of having your Racquet in hand, being crouched, already prepared for a fast ball that has a limited amount of directions in which it can bounce, and already visualizing how it is going to play out. He waits until the ball is already in his side of the court, watches where it bounces first, and then complains that it is literally impossible for him to run back to his locker where he left his Racquet, run all the way back to the court, locate the ball, get into position and then backhand with his non-dominant hand. He needs super human speed and reflexes compared to the player that has to serve and that's completely unfair. I blame pro players for selling this mentality of having to have 600 apm to do anything, when you can just literally siege up and pre-split your army then poke with a handfull of marine/marauders in less than 4 seconds and literally just win
It's refering to storm, since EMP only removes shields and Zerg and Terran units don't have shields so they take no damage from EMP. It isn't really correct, since EMP also removes energy and both Zerg and Terran have units that use energy, and it can be used to reveal cloaked units like banshees. But that's why you don't really see EMP used in those matchups.
He clearly has his Ghosts on the same hotkey as his Marines/Marauders, and doesn't realize he needs to tab in order to use stim. I can't believe this is 3.3k.

I'm curious about that blink on in thing. I'm toss d3 and when I play pvt I can't imagine any successful cheese. I just sit home, expand and wait for him to attack, then maybe counterattack but any type or early aggression, if you don't count this stalkers vs Marines without stim thing
@@MrNicoJac I don't turrtle, I just try to get ahead with eco and have similar army to terran, and I don't attack before he has a lot of bases because 1 terran is almost always aggressive and I can play passive as I used to play 2 I believe that terran is really hard to attack cuz of tanks and bunkers and all that shit
Spellcasters on a different hotkey or stick with a comp and tab to the right unit. This guy is probably better than me, so I have to assume he doesn't notice he doesn't stim when he owns Ghosts. He just looks back and thinks it wore off already which is why when he *does* stim, he does it every 5 seconds. I can only imagine this is why he doesn't build a Raven to kill the imba Observers. His Ghosts would suddenly stop working.

EmL is a case study of the long-term psychological effects of being constantly in a state of panic.
Harstem IIIODIS is the best series / content for starcraft ever :D your commentary is just pure Gold !
You should start a series where you roast people and really go hard on them. Oh wait...
I'm curious about that blink on in thing. I'm toss d3 and when I play pvt I can't imagine any successful cheese. I just sit home, expand and wait for him to attack, then maybe counterattack but any type or early aggression, if you don't count this stalkers vs Marines without stim thing
You just turtle???
Why not go for a timing attack?
@@MrNicoJac I don't turrtle, I just try to get ahead with eco and have similar army to terran, and I don't attack before he has a lot of bases because 1 terran is almost always aggressive and I can play passive as I used to play 2 I believe that terran is really hard to attack cuz of tanks and bunkers and all that shit
When I saw the medivacs not healing the army that was being stormed i died.
>Has a button that lets him see any part of the map
>Calls observers a maphack
23:56 im surprised this guy isnt getting flamed for his continuous absolutly useless scans.
His Ghosts would suddenly stop working.
does any1 have a link to this "imba-confirmed" video mentioned in the beginning ?
Protoss Mass AIR unbeatable!? | IODIS
Harstem: 'Am I a turtle...' F*CK that was the wrong start but I will finish this one! '...or is it imbalanced'
14:10 - Uhh, excuse me, Captain, but we have the THIRD most oil IN THE WORLD. Number one is Venusela, number two is Saudi Arabia, and number three is Canada (we overtook Iran in 2018 to take the number three spot). For comparison, the Netherlands is number 63 and the US is number 11.
Was there ever a video where Harstem actually tags it IMBA? I've watched a lot of these and I haven't seen one yet, I'd love to watch it though if anyone could tell me which video it is
I like how he says "cognitively limited turtles" as if regular turtles can play chess just fine
Was planning to visit my grandfather's grave in Groesbeek War Cemetery. Would love to grab a pint with Harestem when I do!
Lmao he actually stimmed at 21:30, when there was just a singular marine left that I could see.
like 1 marine 1 marauder got to do drugs before dying.
Man, the amount of complete panic from EmL in that fight is hilarious.
Friendship ended with turret, depot is tanks new nest friend.
The impa stan XDDDDD
*heroic music plays*
Shoutout to those storms honestly those templar were doing WORK
the fact that this is diamond makes me want to take a stab at being a intellectually limited turtle again
That turtle metaphor was brutal and hilarious and also true
27:33 Thank you Hamster!! :D
The raven is the worst unit in the game because it makes me place turrets instead of stimming.
The BC is the worst unit in the game because it makes me tactical jump instead of stimming.
