Pretty much. I'm not looking forward to either another Elder Scrolls or Fallout game out of Bethesda, at this point. Because without massive changes in leadership, talent and direction at that company, those games will likely be just as mediocre and disappointing as everything else they've made lately.
It's funny how Bethesda acts like they are the heart of soul of Fallout in spite of the fact that they didn't originally create the series. Add to that the fact that the most beloved FPS fallout game wasn't even made by them and within eighteen months no less. Makes you wonder if they are the right fit for Fallout.
Bethesda, despite spending more and more time on their games, is releasing worse games and relying on modders to fix them. Starfield is so bland that even modders didn't want to touch it.
Why would I be sad about having to wait years from now a new Fallout/Elder Scrolls if Starfield was the last product they produced? It's not worth anticipating. There's no possible way it will be worth the price they charge unless they seriously make big changes in their company. Which, by the sounds of it, isn't happening. They would rather sink the ship than steer it away from the obvious iceberg that's coming.
Well said. I hate how everyone keeps talking about bethesda like they're the same as 10-15 years ago. They're not and BIG changes are needed if we are ever to get back to the quality of those days.
With how obnoxiously slow Bethesda has been, and the utter wastes of time we've gotten in the meantime such as Fallout 76 and Starfield it makes me not even want to give them my money ever again ngl.
Fallout 76 just showed to me that Bethesda Game Studios was never going to improve and were just going to put more focus on profit. They won't fix the bugs and instability. They won't make the games more interesting. They'll sell you essentially the same game for the least amount of effort and have Todd Howard lie to everyone on the internet about how much more improved it is.

Bethesda is cooked. Their fan base is aging out. With fewer and fewer people to remember the “good old days” of Bethesda, new audiences won’t put up with their crap.
Yup. For me Morrowind was and is the greatest Bethesda game ever made and I am sad that they did not remastered / remade it to run 60fps and great graphics but that game is not suitable for "modern audience" if remastered one to one. New Vegas with modern grapcics would be awesome too if remastered properly.
It's absolutely insane that they wont let anybody else work on these franchises, when we're talking in terms of decades we face the very real possibility that a lot of fans wont even be alive to see these next games, all those original Fallout 1 & 2 and Arena & Daggerfall fans are getting old.
@@mojonojo3i think they are implying ubisoft would pay any price to Bethesda for IP license to make an ES or Fallout game to help their own sales? But I could be wrong
At the minimum they need to at least let another studio re-master the previously released games for current year so that they can bring in new fans that understand why these game series are so beloved.
Using a destroyed San Francisco as the setting for the next Fallout should speed up production quite a bit because they can just use real film footage.
What would you call this? The whole gaming industry right now is stupid. Gaming companies have more people in management, HR, PR, and marketing then working on games.
Not just the gaming industry, look at Warner Bros they are screwing with their movies/tv shows by ruining their DC universe and making so many things people just don't want. Same for Disney with all its new woke content. They have fans begging and they just do what they want even if that doesn't even get the attention they think.
Culture war era. Companies are more interested in presentation and appearances than substance, hence big PR budgets, HR with sensitivity and diversity trainings, more management to put activists in power and chest thump about being up to date with times, compared to all of those backwards gamer gaters.
In 5 years they released Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas (and collectively, 9 massive DLCs with hundreds of new characters, quests, each with huge new open maps to explore). By the time I see TES6, I will literally, not figuratively but *literally*, have grey hair. I was a sophmore in highschool when the last TES, Skyrim, came out. I'm 30 now.
I'm the same on my PS5. The Halloween party quest won't even start. I can see Vats numbers through walls. It's pathetic that Bethesda won't even address it after all this time.
Bethesda are kind of a joke by now. Not only are their games far behind the competition in almost every aspect, they take forever to release new games. Not releasing a new title for their flagship IP in over 15 years is almost like killing it dead. They used to lead the pack in single player open world games, now they are even behind Ubisoft. At least Ubisoft games dont look like they are already a decade old.
I am calling it now guys. Fallout 5 and the next Elder Scrolls game are not going to happen. Odds are Bethesda goes away before those releases ever come to fruition. Ever since they sold out to Microsoft this was their destiny. They went utterly downhill, became hostile towards their customers criticisms and are 100% only about making that money. They no longer care or understand the art behind the profit and will collapse because of that. Money needs to always keep their hands out of the art they profit from, they ruin their own products, and then get mad at the fans due to their lack of understanding on what we want.
They literally did this to themselves they can't blame us if they lost what made them want to have passion in the first place that should have been an indication we can't do this anymore and second they didn't create Fallout they just inherited or bought it from another studio that didn't have the vision either.
you are right, the studio can barely function, they cannot do a proper DLC to a shitty game they spent a decade doing, how the hell are they going to produce a AAA level quality on TOW different games in less than a decade when technology changes faster than ever? they should just license the fking IPs, let Fallout go Isometric again so it can be produced by an AAish studio in a 4 year time and move on
As long as Todd Howard is in charge of Berhesda and Microsoft does not force change, Fallout 5 will be come out when I am in my sixties. That is really sad to think about. This sucks.
Devs trying to copy FarCry and RDR, but fishing likely coming from Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, Zelda or some popular MMO(RPG) dating back to early 2000s...
I think fishing is a relaxing mini game. i wouldn't buy a game where its only fishing of course. I just always liked active mini games like that. Same with board games like wizard's chess in Harry potter and the order of the phoenix.
I stopped having "faith" in Bethesda after Fallout 4 came out. It got even worse seeing what they did with the NukaCola whiskey and that nylon bag. I do not forget, I let all my memories live rent free in my head so I don't fall into the same trap over and over again because I am sane.
Cycle length between games wouldnt be an issue if the games were good when they came out. You cant take forever with ur games AND be inflexible; you just end up releasing a long string of duds and move further and further away from any positive sentiment towards your organization
As happy as I am that modders extend the life of Bethesda games, they need to stop. Bethesda is profiting off of this and causing their own games' qualities and time frames terrible.
I honestly just don't care about The Elder Scrolls 6 anymore. So much time has passed, that I've moved on. I have different games that I love now that I want to give my time to. I'll probably take a look at some gameplay/Reviews on TH-cam to see what it's like, but that will probably be about it. It will have to be unbelievably mind-blowing, and be released on a PlayStation system, for me to even consider giving it a chance. I don't really see either one of those things happening.
I was 31. I was there for the golden age of gaming. Played daggerfall etc...Beth lost its Mojo. Todd is the worst thing that ever happened to Bethesda. The people who had the mind to create Oblivion and daggerfall, got discpuraged with skyrim. The good workers are now gone. Proof: Starfield. Beth is gone. Better to accept this fact.
I see Bethesda as a retired studio. They've passed their prime, and can't really do the things they used to anymore. So they road off into the sunset, and created a pension of mobile games and small MMOs to live out their twilight years as a studio. And now, the field is open to a new generation of developers. In part mod teams like the one behind Fallen London, but more so new franchises that are within the Scrolls-like genre such as Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, Monomyth, or Elin. There is a bright future in the games industry, and while we'll always appreciate what Bethesda has done for games as an art form everybody also recognizes that they just can't keep up with modern gaming anymore.
The main reason why they don't develop new games is twofold. First one is the live service with ESO and Fallout 76 where they don't need to invest a lot to get money. Secondly, mods keep selling games and they are abusing it through creation club. In the end you have bunch of creatively bankrupt people resting on the piles of cash still thinking they are experiencing their peak. Starfield is just that, vanity project of people who don't understand the current gaming culture.
I agree with you. I played all FO games up till the day after FO76 came out (which I had bought three of the super versions with status and other stuff in anticipation of a good family experience - upwards of $1,000 for those bundles). I've two years till I retire now and Bethesda can pound sand; particularly since I spent 800+ hours in Starfield just to have the quests (around 15 of them) become bugged and impassible). So now I'll spend these next two years before retirement programming deep learning projects, playing games with friends who design and implement their own design frameworks, and generally making sure that I never purchase products that over-promise, again. But Todd H keeps telling everyone that I'm a typical [sic] gamer who doesn't know anything.
Meanwhile a group of dedicated modders with passion gave us Fallout London, my favorite experience ever in the Fallout universe, for completely free but BETHESDA’s paid devs need a decade or more between releases. Do better.
What quality? There's really only one reason Bethesda got the fanbase and following they did, and it can be summed up in three words: World Of Warcraft. No really, let me explain: Bethesda were early adopters of the "big open world RPG" concept, which is why their early titles like Arena, Daggerfall and Morrowind enjoy alot of well deserved respect. They were one of the companies that paved that road, and all due respect, they do deserve credit for that. But just as engines that were capable of making something like this started to become avalible, and we were looking at a potential future of many such titles comming into existance, disaster struck: WoW. World Of Warcraft made an absolute ton of money for Blizzard, and made the whole industry turn it's head and go "i want me some!", and as a result, the entire industry abandoned the idea of the singleplayer open world RPG, and instead decided that if they were going to make a big open world, they might aswell make a terrible "WoW killer" MMO and go for the gold. Even though they all failed, and WoW is still undefeated to this day. But there was a very big market of players who didn't want a themepark WoW-clone MMO, but instead wanted a singleplayer open world RPG, and Bethesda was the only company to actually make such a thing on a consistant basis (there have been a few others, but they came and went, with no sequel or series in sight). So, despite all of Bethesda's many faults, and dear lord do they have a lot of them, they are a terrible and lazy company, they ended up having this market cornered by default, because they had no competition. People wanted a game like this, and they were the only company making it. Simple as. This is the secret behind Bethesda's success. It's not because they are amazing developers, it's not because their games are just that good. No, their games are buggy messes, and their writing and quest design is some of the worst in the industry. Nah, they just didn't jump on the WoW bandwagon, and ended up with a captive audience as a result.
I pray they sell their IP to someone who can keep up with the franchise, and frankly, make better games. Bethesda takes too long to make mediocre games at this point.
Microsoft bought Bethesda SPECIFICALLY for the IPs. They wanted fallout, dishonored, doom, etc. MS isnt going to sell off any of the IPs. So Fallouts just fucked, best just to go play stalker or some other wasteland survival game
No words to describe my disgust towards Bethesda, I wish they could go bankrupt and have to sell Fallout IP to other developers or something, so much incompetence, this is completely draining
Unfortunately that is impossible. They are owned by Microsoft, the largest company on Earth. And I doubt Microsoft will ever sell off any of its assets.
The new Fallout game to come before Fallout 5 should be an isometric game made by inXile Entertainment more in the style of the original games, Fallout 1 and 2. At this point I really don't trust current Obsidian to do a good job with the franchise. The Obsidian that made New Vegas is long gone.
With all the starfield interviews of them claiming it was a 'success', to a engine showing how disgustingly outdated it is, to emil still being head writer I'm 98% certain elder scrolls 6 isn't dead on arrival it died being preconceived
What we want is a great Elder Scrolls 6 but do I believe that is what we will get? Hells no 😏 They will f it up like they did with the new "Dragon Age". Go full retard and have a team that is 100% DEI to make it.
I can't fathom releasing a patch for a game thats 9 years old that makes it run worse. Especially a game that relies so heavily on the modding community to retain relevance where the patch breaks most of the most popular mods. I really think Bethesda has to throw in the towel and start working more with their community if they actually want to survive.
We all know the "Next Gen Update" for Fallout 4 was purely to break Fallout: London, can't have user content be THAT much better than their sad excuse for content.
people were all like "oh its not that bad now. they improved it." Its fundamentally bad. They can dress it up.. That's the best they can do. But its fundamentally a bad idea. All the same problems are there. and old ass fallout combat where your just using vats half the time because shooting is so clunky and unfun isnt cutting it. its not good. And people need to stop sitting here pretending "its better so that means its good." Meanwhile fallout 4 is now irreperably broken on console and pc unless you downgrade. console players get fucked.

Fallout 5 was my most anticipated game of any game. Now that I'm fairly certain it will be filled with Betheda's ideological stances and monetization crap, it could come out in October 2077 for all I care.
Fallout 4 is leagues better than StarField, I would say that I hope Bethesda will learn from StarField, but reality has beaten the pessimism into me, so I expect Fallout 5 to some how give me the plague
I am a huge Bethesda fan but at this point I don't really care what are they up to right now. I'm not hyped at all for Elder Scrolls 6 or Fallout 5. They take WAY too long to come up. Elder Scrolls 6 should have come in 2017 at most. Having such long windows of emptyness (Starfield is a mess so don't bring it up) between releases is a huge detriment to the brand.
This is why I do my own Fallout like game in unity. Imagine a blend between New Vegas and Metro Exodus With graphics that are ps3/360 like. I like that style and I do everything from skratch
They will not they have to take financial losses close to Dragon Age or Assassin's Creed or that Star Wars game that is the only time they're going to start rethinking yeah maybe we have to do better but I doubt it because these people won't change the way they operate even if they take so many bad financial losses that threatened to shut them down they won't change they'll just sell the studio and move on that's probably what Todd going to do.

A TV show about Fallout can be made faster than a Fallout game.
Many, many, many times faster and the clock is still ticking.
Meanwhile a group of dedicated modders with passion gave us Fallout London, my favorite experience ever in the Fallout universe, for completely free but BETHESDA’s paid devs need a decade or more between releases. Do better.
It would be one thing for the time gap to get longer. It’s that now we aren’t even given a guarantee of the quality of Bethesda games.
The quality was never really there. It was independent modders who always fixed the major bugs in the game.
@@icepicjoey
But Skyrim even with it being downgrade from Oblivion was enjoyable. The problem is the horrible writing and outdated engine.
Mocking chassids huh? We can fix that :)
I’m not going to “WELL ACKTSUALLY” you. You’re absolutely right.

They seem to care more about live service or mobile games. I’ll be in my 40s if this game ever game comes out. They need a new engine because this engine is holding them back
Even unity engine would be better than what they currently have
bethesda brings a whole new meaning to beating a dead horse
Their horses only survived for so long thanks to their sturdy armor...
Anything other than the show is over a decade+ away I don't have much reason to think things will be the same that far in the future.
With the current state of Obsidian I'm not interested in a New Vegas 2, Obsidian is going to shit just as most western development companies.
Preach!
An Obsidian spin off would suck too, they've changed a lot since New Vegas.
What makes you say that? Because plenty of people that worked on the original, Vegas are still there, a lot of the people that have left said they would come back to work on new Vegas, and the outer world was a very good game, they are not on the down spin Bethesda is
@@hmanvlogs2956but have changed
@@zerosam5541 how, that’s not an explanation, bc them as ppl haven’t, they’re knowledge of the series hasn’t changed, I think you and a lot of other people like you are so dug into this belief that they’ve changed, and cannot show us and give us something that we all want, and because of that, you’re ruining the chances of anything like that ever happening
Bc Chris Avalone,Leonard, etc, the big names from og fallout are still there and can come back, is it likely? Well the chances go down every day, but they’res also next to no effort being put in to make this happen
I'm kinda done with Todd Howard and Bethesda. Elder Scrolls 6 will be woke trash worse than Starfield. They will never make it to Fallout 5.
So cry about it

I feel that now that gaming has become mainstream it's been ruined like Hollywood. The popularity of gaming has made it a platform for spewing modern propaganda. Need more people voting with their wallets.
at this point I just hope being alive when ES6 and FO5 come out
Starfield. What a waste of fucking money, time, effort ,and resources my goodness. Starfield was absolute trash. Western AAA games are so damn terrible now.
The long wait for a subpar game. Pretty sad
One of my buddies told me the other day how excited he was for ES6 but he doesnt keep up with any kind of gaming news. I didn't have the heart to tell him.... I didn't want to steal his hope.
Do it. Save him money and time. Be a bro.
And Bethesda will brake his wallet for you on es6
A good bro would warn him
I lost all interest in Fallout and elder scrolls. Bethesda incompetence has killed any care I have for the franchise.
IMO Fallout 4 VR is one of the best VR experiences. Bethesda is very hushy about if they'll include VR versions of their upcoming games. After playing FO4 (& ES5) in VR, I don't think I could really enjoy FO5 & ES6 without VR versions.
Moving to next gen consoles has been death sentence for a lot of these studios line Bethesda.. they struggled on the Xbox 369 already. Now it takes 15-20 years to develop a game and it will prolly flop lol these companies are regressing
that comment about being middle aged when FO5 will come out... my daughter isn't even 2 years old and she might be of age to play FO5 on release... I used to love Bethesda like they were my own family, now I do not trust a word they're saying, the only good thing that came out of them is the Fallout TV show and it's not even from them !
With how Starfield was with its loading screens, can bet that the next Fallout and Elder Scrolls games will become known as LoadscreenOut 5 and The Loadscreen Scrolls 6. 😂🤣
The last thing we want is a New Vegas 2 made by obsidian, just look at the mess that's going on with avowed right now...
Agreed. I’m so bummed that this is like groundhogs day now. It’s like there’s a decision tree with these studios that’s a straight line to hell.
No one talks about it, but a lot of the good stuff in New Vegas was Chris Avellone's doing. The characters, the writing. And now he's gone...
My confidence in Todd Howard has been in decline ever since horse armor & by now I sincerely believe that The Elder Scrolls & Fallout IP's would be off way better without him.
Pick up a copy of the Fallout table-top RPG books by Modiphius Entertainment, get some friends over and write your own stories, scenarios and campaigns and just have a good time either around a table or through a digital online system like Foundry and throw some dice. That's what I'm gonna do.
