@@TattsForLife so I changed out the oil like you showed. While I was taking out the shifter I started to wonder if any of those parts need to be lubed by grease or anything like that ( cover/soring )

Thanks for the video, what that oil you used gl 4 rated? I've been looking online and everyone seems to be saying gl 5 rated oil is mildly corrosive to the brass synchros. Looking for oil for mine just curious. Thanks.

sorry for the late reply, as for gl4 vs gl5 its true and false at the same time, people fail to understand that gl4 and gl5 that the different in one from the other is that they can only do damage to the synchros if the fluid comes to a boil and that should never happen

TattsForLife thanks for quick reply,I’ve had a problem shifting from 1st to 2nd for about 2 days now,you have to force it up in there pretty hard,then it shifts to third pretty easy but there’s a hip Fitch whining noise sounds like a piece of metal to a fan blade,pretty sure it’s a baron.it has a steady leak,but I always add some to it when needed,do you think I could drain out what I’ve got in there and put some Lucas gear oil and maybe save the baron? Really don’t wanna rebuild or pull it rite now but if I have to so be it

That gear oil really does smell bad. I rebuilt my 10 bolt rr axle and my clothes were full of that stuff.

There's a fill plug on the side of the sm465 tranny
