Great consistency of you Bazza! Nice that you took the time to mount the CFMOTO-branded 15T (I think it was originally made for the now-discontinued 650MT) on your bike!
Cheers Bazza for the shout out! I'm actually blushing! The only thing is you really ought to have completely removed the bolts & applied the anti-sieze inside the bolt thread. Hopefully you extended them out most of the way🤙
Hey Bazz! I am the one who put out the video about the JT being noisy because it is 1 mm off center. I also did not see any pitting from the JT on my bike after 1000 km. I'm glad you did not find any after 6000 either. Enjoy a smoother ride and ride safe!
Just my 2 cents wort here. The play from the JT to the oem doesn't matter. Two reasons 1. That counter shaft is case hardened and will wear that sprocket before that sprocket wears that shaft. 2. Don't forget that nut would be torqued up to or over 50ft/lbs so that sprocket isn't going to be rattling around on that shaft. Cant find the exact spec for the 450 MT but that's about the standard. That 1mm offset between the JT and OEM doesn't matter either. By the time it wears anything (which I doubt it would" you would be up for a new chain or sprocket anyway; so a pointless worry.
I've got to agree, also tightening the nut would give a true measurement. I've not received my bike yet but have some mods here waiting including a JT 15t that will be going on.
@@davecornish6716 My wife got one early. The bike has been a total winner. Hasn't skipped a beat. I think shes done around 10,000 klms with zero problems. They really hit the mark with this one. I really hope you love yours as much as she loves hers. Oh and she has had a lot experience on many different bikes over many many years. As have I.
Hi mate, my opinion only, factory front sprockets on all bikes. Those JT and other aftermarket sprockets always seem to have slop in them and do wear the shafts making for expensive repairs.
Just put few drops high-strenght Loctite thread locker on splines and you will save it from worn out. Only downside is that you'll need bearing puller to remove, but splines will stay in good shape forever even with bad sprockets.
Sprocket can be put on with either of the 2 "faces" sometimes. I had JT on my CRF250L, if I had put it on so that the marks JTF.... are facing me, it would be 1mm missaligned,if I put it other way its same as stock,so it did about 20 000km the other way no issues.
Tested the a demo bike with the 15 tooth sprocket while they were make the first service (1000 km) When I was back, I told them to not mount the 15 tooth. Bikes looses a bit of it punshiness which I love so. Will only mount the 15 tooth when going on longer trips. ( + 1000 km in a week or so )
@hondaslex Yes, nothing wrong with standard sprocket, I just have 15 as I do long travel to get to the good stuff. Bigger Tyres change ratio too. Thanks for the comment.
I'm confused. You say left hand thread, and then 'lefty loosey' on the screen "A left-hand thread is a screw thread that winds in the opposite direction of a right-hand thread, tightening counterclockwise and loosening clockwise. They are also known as reverse threads" So, lefty looses? If so, it is a standard (right hand) thread, not left hand thread Right?
@javierc2726 sorry for the confusion, as I was undoing the nut I said left . It's just normal thread, I mentioned it because someone asked in another video I done. Cheers
I bought an RK one from MCAS and it was sloppy fit so I didn’t put it on, lucky it was only $20 didn’t have the dampening rubbers. Still running the 14 I like it for off-road
@@bazz6670Gday Bazz l to at first ran the 15 tooth and l also travel at least 1-1.5 hrs to get to some fun tracks But lve gone back to the oem 14 and think it’s better overall especially off road. I’m running. Motoz tractionater on rear and the rallzy up front. Even after Brett reflashed my ecu which now it even revs to 10 grand and increased top speed which lm not all fussed about it’s more with the super smooth fuelling and 7 hp gains 👌 and this is all on the 14 tooth sprocket. So I’ll guess l will stay with the oem gearing when need to replace Cheers 👍
I did the rear (down 3 teeth) as wasn’t happy with the loose fitting JT front. Works a treat but the rear wheel is way back on the guide. It was a real mission removing the ridiculously tight bolt off hub. Will order a 15t from Uncle Wang and return rear to standard but use a much lighter “Super Sprox” Stealth.

@davecornish6716 no it's not really a problem when torqued up. People are worried about nothing really , I just wanted to use original part to see difference.

Hey Bazz, good choice for the OEM 15T.
I did the same for my 450MT. Way better gearing.
Good update Bazz, I bought my 15t via Aliexpress and it had no slack in it, I will check it now though just to be sure.
@davidz8 That's great David, I think I just made more work for you 😀

JT supply plenty of OEM sprockets for European/Asia made bikes

Just got the my 15 tooth sprocket from my local CF Moto Dealer and it is the same JT Sprocket you have. Think I need to talk to them.
@hondaslex hey that's a bit weird. You go to the dealer to get genuine parts.

@EddyOtway I'm wondering what to buy when it comes time to change the chain and sprockets as a set now. The 14 is definitely better off road.

Lefty loosey is a righthand thread people. Normal.
Why do you change the front sprocket instead of the back one? I think it will be easier and you won't have any of those tolerance issues.
@dimpao98 front is much easier to change, if you do rear, then wheel needs to be removed and sprocket unbolted. The chain will also change length.
@@bazz6670 I agree but you won't have to worry about the axle getting damaged.

wow! that play! what a difference! Are you not worried about that 1mm offset?
@onthepegs this is an original cfmoto sprocket I just put on, so off set was wrong with the jt.
Great job! Where did you get that washer?
@sapte62 I ordered it through cfmoto dealer.
@bazz6670 thanks! At the moment, the 450 is top on my shopping list. I'm waiting to see if they are going to bring Benelli TRK 552 to Europe

@garthpregnell1227 mesh covers are great for a bit of cooling, I just bought a cheap one off ebay, make sure you get the largest possible.

15/45???
@wangoprc4 I only changed the front so 15/47
That's a lot of slop, lucky it didn't wear. I've always bought JT sprockets.
@OzADVRider I have used jt for years, it might be that this one is just not best suited for the 450MT
