@marcofossa5741 Thanks for the comment, this bike doesn't belong to me. On my own bike I have 15 front sprocket. After riding off road up steep hills in the high country I don't think I would lower gearing anymore than that. The standard gearing is ideal for off road. On the highway with 15 it sits on about 6500 rpm and 130 is 7000 rpm.

Hi there; 1- Isn't that thing on top of the speedo blocking your sight? 2- I wonder how the 450 would've behaved (i.e. gral. vibration and revs) @ 120/130/140 km/h which are closer to real speeds for long trips. Since most of us do not have the luxury of a truck to take the bikes to a trail road, we might need to ride them at highway speeds for hours. This is way, at least for me, highway speeds are a dealbreaker at selecting the right bike.
Hey mate! I can't speak for personal experience since i've not ridden the bike, but reports from trusty journalists here in Italy all say that at highway speeds (here the usual is 120/130 and 140 for the eventual overtake) all say that the engine stays smooth as butter, but the revs are decently high at cruise speed with still some legs for the eventual overtake. So the consensus is that it's not ideal for touring, but a couple of hours of highway are no problem, might need a rest stop here and there if you're a taller biker! @@ozmarineboy1090 thanks so much! :)
Do u have link for your GPS divice? I see a lot in aliexpress with carplay do u recoment eny one? Thank you in advance
Car play looks good. I put the zumo on my own bike for the fact that quite often phone looses signal. I believe he got it from alixpress..
Are the bar risers from CFMOTO or aftermarket? Price of the taller seat?
@Jonathan-L I believe he used after-market risers. The seats from cfmoto are $200
Good homework, gearing looks good, what is the GPS on the bike please🙂
@johnnieuwenhuizen606 Jason has one of those car play units. I didn't try it out, but he likes it.
Would you recommend doing a 16T front?
I'm not really sure about 16 on front, I have been told 1 tooth up at front equals 3 down on back so 16 would be a 41 on back . Need someone to try it.
better to balance between front/rear. not sure how much free space to go up to a 16 either ?
Hi. In Portugal this youtuber put 16 on front. th-cam.com/video/pedhYoIa2G4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CPBjEiViDJ3REPlt
@@bazz6670that is correct Baz; 1 tooth down/up at front equals 3 teeth up/down at rear; this is the widely accepted general rule of thumb; as an ex racer i know this to be true; stock gearing on 450MT is 14/47 so 15/45 would be roughly same as 14/42; that's a big difference; i think i will leave 14 at countershaft and go to 44 at rear with chain adjusted for wheel all the way back so that for longer periods on the tar (say all day) maybe carry a 15T front that can be swapped over.
@@ozmarineboy1090 absolutely need to keep balance between front and rear to avoid what they call 'chain snatch' as the suspension moves through its travel; it might be ok to go 16 (if there's space) on the front for a road bike but for a bike that is going to see dirt, rocks and mud, we need to keep space between the chain and the engine cases; built up mud/debris at the countershaft is bad for chain wear but a small misplaced rock can be all kinds of ride ending if it gets lodged between chain and cases; speaking of which, i don't like the look of the solid countershaft cover either.....i'll be drilling a few slots/holes in mine so that dirt/mud/rocks has somewhere to escape.
And whats the top speed with those gears??
@ElectricCarsMx I can't say as it's not my bike. With the 15 front I can do 150
Can you test the topspeed?
@@yuanviray1082 I would if it was my bike,
Fantastic , where did you buy the 15 sprocket?
I think he bought from ebay, that one was for a 450 nk.
Thanks Baz I was wondering what the difference was
Thanks for checking it out , it's good I got to try out gearing before buying myself more sprockets, we will try it off road soon.
@@bazz6670 Let us know please as I'd be interested in getting mine done also
What's the original sprocket?
14t front, 47t rear
What is the top speed with 15/45 sprockets?
Probably still 93mph Probably just bogs down in the higher gears now.
If you wanted to use a 16t sprocket on the front , would this be nice or no ?
I haven't seen anyone try it yet, I wonder if it would put more strain on the output shaft. I think better to change rear. My friend has 15 front and 45 rear and chain didn't need to be changed.
What's the stock rear sprocket size?
It has a 47 tooth
The 15 front will minus of around 500rpm.anytin above 120kph the rpm is still considered quite high for long touring to be honest.140 almost reaching redline.engine still smooth but the rpm is high.it has short gearing in the gearbox.maybe next i try to drop 1 teeth at thr rear.front stays 15. Good bike
Whats about acceleration after that change ? I bet its a bit slower ?
It is a little bit less snappy but nothing to worry about, I think the benefits are worth it if you are doing long rides.
Have u lost torque? 🤔 or u just shift down?
@rdauto-moto yes you will loose a bit with this gearing, I think just 15 front is good.
Thx
Awesome mate. My set up for long hauls! Any word on the mileage with this set up?
it is similar, around 4litres/100km. it's my bike
Not sure yet
What about top speed?
higher than before. i only took it to 7000rpm being a new bike not done 1st service yet, and it got over 130kmh easily before i backed off
@@ozmarineboy1090 we know stock top speed is 160 at speedo due to rev limiter. Adding one T at front gives a theoretical new top speed of 171. It would be interesting to see what the engine is capable of. Nice vid ;)
Hey bro the 45 tooth on the back is Standard?
@@davidjackson12 rear is 47 standard front 24
@@bazz6670 Front 24? No way
@@davidjackson12 14*
So which bike has the same rear sprocket? Ive been looking for a 45 rear but everyone says not available.
The 450 sr or nk are the same. Look on ebay or rpm moto have them. There are heaps if you search on line.
Una repro hace falta y 52cv, y un akraoivik mi like desde España 🇪🇦🇪🇦 esperando la mía
Hi Baz, regarding the higher seat can you tell me your height? I'm 5'7"/170cm and have the standard seat. Do you think I'd still reach the ground?
I've also done the 15T front sprocket (after watching your previous vid), and that alone makes the bike much more comfortable on the freeway.
I'm 5,10 I can touch both feet but not flat footed, you can also lower bike at the bottom of rear shock.
@@bazz6670 Thanks Baz, it sounds like the high seat isn't for me!
Test a top speed pls.
93mph at the red line
Definitely needs a bigger screen
It would be nice, I haven't put one on my own bike yet but will eventually.
The cops just say that knowing that speedos read high...
I know but still safer, I often go a bit over without realising.
@@bazz6670 will u do a petrol test soon?

@custardcatcher5195 we can try but my bike has 15 front, Jason's bike has 15/ 45 so if we can get a ride together we will fill up same time.
Bazz ... How can you state its a great bike ..... when....... you have put so many extra mods thats different from the original ...... spockets , screen , seat , and other things ..... you haven't gave it a decent try .....
This is a friend's bike. I was just trying his gearing. I have done plenty of riding on my own one. Mine doesn't have so many mods. But like any bike i have owned i mod to suit my needs just like everyone else, cheers.
the phones gps isnt calibrated, they are always out
Best to stick to the speedo on bike I guess. Gives you a few kmh safety.
@@bazz6670 yep, looks like a good bike too
Std gearing is off road biased.
Yes it is very good off road,
