agree but they don't stay completely original to their true game. lots of mechanics in Mario 1, Mario 3 and SMW have been changed to resemble New Super Mario Bros, like shells being able to get coins for you. Mario not being able to spin jump on podoboos, some examples. the way you control and your momentum is also very different and smoother. but most of the changes are for the better.

I don't think Mario maker should ever allow this because in many levels you need to limit the player's moveset. Like if you don't want them to be able to hold something or to wall jump or spin jump, you pick a different mode depending on it. When mario has the entire moveset in all games, it just ends up being NSMBU with a palette swap
He means the mid-air twirl in Mario Multiverse doesn't have the same Physics than in NSMBU/Mario Maker 2. In NSMBU/Mario Maker 2, the mid-air twirl doesn't slow Mario down and doesn't boost Mario upwards. I prefer the old moves to retain the same Physics as the real game, even if the author might introduce new moves.

I really like how the ground pounding sprite for Mario in SMB3 is actually the sprite for when Mario jumps when he has the super star in SMB3, albeit with the colors changed to normal.
Here's a what-if for you. It has to do with the goals at the end of stages. -Flagpoles and the little castles afterwards in all styles, kind of like how you have here -Rotary cards from SMB3 in all styles -Gates with a bar that goes up and down from SMW in all styles
I love the upgrade to the mid air twirl In NSBMWII the twirl just makes Mario stays mid air for a little longer but this version actually propels Mario in the just a little bit

Great demonstration. I think some stuff needs treaking, like the groundpound or the wallslide speed,... but it's amazing what you already did. I wouldn't include too many settings for which specific moves would be included or excluded, but rather a classic and a modern mode, since anything else would probably be weird for the player, starting a new level and having to find out which moves work and which don't every time.
