I think this is way too op. I think ground blocks and large enemies should not be instantly destroyed. Ghosts should not be affected at all. It would be funny if Bowser retreated into his shell when stomped, just like a koopa, but that would be it for Bowser, no damage.
Because I think that the Mega Mushroom is not like the original: 1. The growth animation is different 2. In NSMB there was a bar that gave you 1UPs depending on how many things destroyed. 3. Mario couldn't destroy ground blocks! 4. You could destroy the goal in the original game 5. When breaking ? blocks you did not get the coins that were inside 6. In NSMB the Mega Mushroom was bumping away from Mario
There was a similar powerup in Super Paper Mario that turned the player characters into their original NES sprites while making them gigantic juggernauts of destruction. Now the thing I'm wondering: Since smashing question blocks with coins in them gives you the coin, would smashing the blocks containing the Mega Mushroom cause the mushroom to spawn right away so you could refresh your powerup timer and not have to wait through the shrinking and growing animations again or reset the music? If not, that's how I think it should work, "accurate" or not.

Exactly what Mario maker 3 should do. Bring everything into every style and bring a few new ones like Smb 2, sml 1 & 2. Make there be less limitation in the creation process and make most level ideas possible. Also bring multiplayer mode similar to smb 35 with custom levels and styles.
Interestingly enough, Mario actually can break the flagpole in NSMBDS. If you’re fast enough, you can reach the flag pole with a mega mushroom in 1-1 where you can see the interaction play out for yourselves
The NSMB game and the NSMB mod game for Mario Multiverse are too different, cause the NSMB Game has a model of Mario and the Mario Multiverse mod has a sprite.
Same i wish there was an option of how the level finishes, flagpole or axe or how smb2 finishes normally those options in super mario maker 2 would be nice
As someone who grew up with Super Mario Bros DS I have to say that some of the stuff here is inaccurate to the orginal Mega Mushroom. Mega Mushroom would move away from Mario and bounce. It can’t break ground blocks because one of the mechanics is that when you jump, Mega Mario breaks blocks beneath him. There’s no 1UP Meter. It doesn’t one shot all bosses by simply walking into them like how you would with a Star. The Flagpole not being destroyed at the end was one of my biggest bummers. It was funny to see Mega Mario break the Flagpole and see his reaction before shrinking back to normal.
