@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks I have noticed that both elephants and dogs have a sense of humor. If an elephant is living in a safe, happy setting with her family herd, roaming about with them every day, playing in the nearby river, when her favorite human hides behind a rock as she passes by, and the person pokes their head up, the elephant was so happily surprised that she reacted with excitement and a smile (yes, elephants can and do smile when they're happy). It was almost like Faa Mai laughed with delight. I remember when Jackie was a puppy, and I was trying to get the recliner to go back further, and it went over backwards 😂🤣 such that my feet were in the air, and Jackie looked up at my feet, with the greatest expression on his face! He would have busted up laughing if he could have. I think it would be a hoot if you'd introduce Todd to humor, to laughter, to happy surprises, to jokes or whatever you think would do that for him, and let us see his response. :)
My thought as well. Maybe he's looking for more clarification as to what "upstairs" really means. If the word "stairs" isn't in his vocabulary, he wouldn't understand the derivations of "upstairs" and "downstairs". Maybe he understands "upstairs" to mean something closer to "top" or "above" ??
Maybe he means that he feels - like people do - that his consciousness (self awareness) is located in his head? (As opposed to some other part of the body)
@@AnnaSwed I have a feeling that if Todd had hands he would type a 5 page essay each morning to let Dad know his thoughts about what his day is going to entail!
I love how Todd usually looks straight at Dad after the first button push... it's like a silent military version of "Do you copy?" (and Dad silently says back, "Sir, yes sir!") 😉
He is looking g at me for confirmation. I will nod my head to let him know I heard him while giving him time to finish his thoughts if he has more to say without interrupting him.
Hmmmm, I wonder if Todd is pondering that upstairs may also mean " up upwards higher than on top...." If he were a house his head would be the upstairs...?😮
Todd upstairs means I am the center of the world, give me your attention. When it didn't happen he started listing his parts to keep you engaged. That look of annoyance he gave you at the end was priceless.
My very thought, Todd's thoughts, his consciousness is about his time upstairs with Dad. It's wonderful to learn what a pet is thinking about and what are their feelings.
But maybe Todd was questioning if dad meant he was putting his head upstairs when he said, "Let's head upstairs," a literal meaning. That's what makes the most sense to me.
Well, I guess Todd would probably know where his head is.... as long as it's still attached to his body.... Or maybe he was saying his head is 'upstairs' meaning the highest point on his body?? LOL
That's actually what I'm wondering. I came to say something along the lines of, what if he's trying to make a comparison that his head is above his body like being upstairs? I haven't noticed him use the HMM? button. Does he ask questions? Or is he not feeling well, and his head feels high above, like upstairs? It's cute as is, but with Todd, this could be anything from health to cat philosophy, lol.
I think more will be coming from this. Dad will have to listen carefully to see exactly what Todd has in mind and relate it back to this “Todd upstairs head“. ❤️

his head is higher then the rest
Agreed. I think that's what he was actually trying to say. Unless it was something more esoteric than that.
I thought about this, too. Maybe he said his head is "upstairs" from the rest of his body. I love the glimpse into his mind. ❤❤
