gym memberships have never worked for me either. i find if when i get up in the morning, i do my exercise routine before anything else it works best for me because then i don't have it hanging over my head and possibly not getting done at all. i just do the old school exercises, for example, push ups, sit ups, curls, squats, etc. also, i change my routine every three months and work out three days a week 45-60 minutes per session. (i always warm up before and cool down after.) i hope you will keep up the walking and cycling, though.

Yet, strength training alone will not make you HEALTHIER. I started running, yes to lose weight (was 275...now 227 and still going down), but I mainly did it for a lifestyle change and have a stronger heart, better circulation, etc. You need cardio for a truly healthy body, then suppliment 2-3 days a week with strength training for stronger bones, build muscle, etc. Moral is that you need a good balance to be healthy...losing weight is only one part of that. Love the videos and keep it up!

For someone in your situation i would recommend not getting a gym membership, due to the fact that i know you wouldnt enjoy going aswell it doesnt fit into your work life style. I DO recommend going 100% but like i said, not for you. I would definetetly give p90x a try, i have never tried it but before any of that give your self sometime to get some muscle tone back because i feel like if you do decide to try out P90x it could leave a bitter taste in your mouth not only from sweat lol but from the work it puts in or so ive heard. 100% telling you to start off with body weight exercises, pushups dips squats and i'd go out and get the cheap pullup bar that you swing up in a door. Keep bicycling put instead of long distance try more resistance when riding and go for shorter miles (always increasing, more u can do do it). Last thing i recommend is looking up short Interval Training, use this as a guide when bike riding, basically ride as fast (w. resisitance) as you can for as long as you can then slow it down get you heart rate back down then continue (your gunna SWEAT) im a big gym rat lol message me if you'd like some workouts to start off w. and to help guide you along w. this (free lol) love the videos cant wait to see where HLO takes you!

I do p90x which really helps. There is p90x 3 that is out and it's only 30 min. Once u learn the routine you don't have to sit in front of the tv and do it

You could get a few different sets of dumbbells pretty cheap, a floor mat, and increase cardio on the bike. You could achieve a lot of different exercises in your garage, heck, even just getting better at pushups / crunches and ab workouts will build muscle in those areas...
However with the muscle building you may need to take supplements / protein to see results, thus increasing caloric intake... and you may not loose weight so much as to transfer weight from fat to muscle...
    Just some thoughts!

Decided to get serious. Bought the cheapest Bowflex, a bike and disc golf. I'm over 55 and I've never felt better.

Kettle bells are a fantastic option for building muscle mass at home. They are also relatively cheap and you can find all sorts of workouts on TH-cam for ideas. Just remember you need to be getting plenty of protein in your diet to facilitate muscle growth. At least .5 grams per pound of lean muscle mass on your body. For example I weight 225 and I eat a minimum of 100 grams of protein daily.

Push ups and 35 lb dumb bells can accomplish a lot. Push ups are free and standing squats are great for what you want. I do 100 push ups a day. 25 if them four times a day. My wife calls it prison work out. But it will help.

Start out doing push ups. Curl 35 pound dumb bells and do some squats. Takes 7 minutes a few tines a day

A kettle bell, a set of dumbbells and p90x or insanity. Biking is still good be cause it builds up your endurance
