Ken Stabler is THE definitive Raider QB. It wasn't just about winning, but it was also about being a maverick, a renegade, and Stabler was certainly that.
You can't help but to wonder if he was this talented and successful partying his whole career, what on earth would his career have been like if he was a health fanatic like Tom Brady and getting 8-10 hours sleep per day? 🤔
Raider fan here, sorry but no unfortunately. Great quarterback and a true Raider, but Steve Young would be the greatest lefty quarterback. It would be Young and then Snake.
He and Staubach were the most clutch QBs of the '70s, but their comebacks were different. Staubach was a steady guy that you knew was going to win it before he even took the first snap of the winning drive. Stabler, you knew as well that he was going to pull off the win, but he was going to take you on a crazy ride to get there.
Carr definitely not a legend with zero playoff wins and no division titles. Lamonica was a better Raider QB than Carr having taken the team to a SB and 3 straight championship games and 5 division titles.
I think in many respects Stabler is the number 1 raider all time. He just embodied what the 70's raiders were all about. Its between him and Ted Hendricks for me. Stabler representing offense, Hendricks defense. Hendricks was probably the better player but the snake gets the nod as the greatest raider in my book by the slimmest of margins.
True, Plunkett won two Super Bowls. But, come on …. Sea of Hands … Holly Roller …. Ghost to the Post … Monday Night in New Orleans? Who was the architect behind all of those ICONIC moments not just in Oakland Raider history but N-F-L history?
Plunket is just as RAIDER as Snake. Plunket also endured highs & lows in an uneven journey through big time football. He is Hispanic & Native American, which makes him a fine RAIDER. And, like all the rest, he found a home with the RAIDERS. The men in the silver hats. And, he is one of the greats.🏈⚔️☠️
True but the best compliment a QB could ever get from their defensive captain is what Snake got. Phil Villapiano said " Kenny Stabler was not a QB, Kenny Stabler was ONE of the BOYS and when you have one of the boys playing QB, that's a good feeling" Thats a HUGE compliment. HUGE.
As wonderful as Jim Plunkett was in big games and even though he has two Super Bowl rings to Kenny's one, Plunkett never had to play postseason after postseason against Chuck Noll's great Steelers teams of the 1970's! If those Steelers teams had been in the NFC, then Stabler would have gone to more than just one Super Bowl and if those great Steelers teams had come along in a different era, Stabler would definitely have more than one Super Bowl ring! Plunkett was great, but the "Snake" was better!
Yeah, I don't get why he said that. Yes, Jim plunket has 2 super bowls Super Bowl and Super Bowl mvp, but he was mostly a backup and Stabler was a long term starter as a raider. Plus Stabler won an mvp as well so that helps.
"The sea of hands" play. One of the most dramatic plays in one of the most dramatic games played by the Raiders. Don't know how Stabler got that ball out and then to put where it had to be is still amazing to watch. Do yourself a favor and watch this video till the end. @3:30 you'll see what happens when a dumbshit fan thinks it's a good idea to rush the field and start taking potshots at NFL players. th-cam.com/video/HeNcWCM5Et0/w-d-xo.html

With all due respect to Otto, Upshaw, and Shell, the top player in Raiders history is either Ken Stabler or Marcus Allen, with the whoever isn't the top man being #2.
Stabler was much better than Jim Plunkett. What a stupid comment. Plunkett was 72-72 as a QB, never an all pro, and was benched on occasion for Mark Wilson. Ridiculous. This is why sports writers shouldn't be voting for the HOF
You have to compare their stats as Raiders only and it's much closer. Plunkett was 38-19 as a starter, but more importantly, 8-2 in the postseason, which dwarf's Stabler's record.
@@JAWrightonline No,but a Great Eagles receiver,I feel strangely honored by the question ,I believe he does color commentary for the Eagles these days .

I gotcha. Up 35-0, give me Troy Aikman. In a league where it's illegal to even breathe on receivers or QBs, give me Brady. But a QB who can deal with hitting and true adversity, gimme the Snake. 🐍 🖤
stabler knocked dolphins steelers out...even in houston..80 no steelers for jim....snake best..jim beat chargers patriots ...not power houses at time..snake beat best..jim brike my heart..pastorini....ouch
Ridiculous. Jim beat the 1983 Redskins who were hailed at the time as one of the greatest teams ever. And Dan Fouts was such much more dangerous a QB than Bob Griese or Bradshaw that it's not even funny.

Ken Stabler is THE definitive Raider QB. It wasn't just about winning, but it was also about being a maverick, a renegade, and Stabler was certainly that.
The Snake is still the Raiders All Time leader in scoring. Off the field.
The light of the jukebox, lol coolest saying ever
1:08 Dude had so much game, he had the Broncos cheerleaders thirsting for him 😂
Groovin up opposing cheerleaders 🕺 😂
Coolest Cat ever to throw a football.....
I don’t know must be something about Alabama because Joe Namath was pretty cool too From what I heard.
I once asked Jim Plunkett if the Raiders party stories were true...he paused...adjusted his Super Bowl Ring and replied "yes!"....
Snake is second only to Otto as greatest Raider of all time. The list isn't about who the best player is, it's who is the best RAIDER.
RIP Snake. Still missed dearly today.
REST IN EXCELLENCE
One of only two Raiders QB's in the Hall of Fame!!
Im still waiting for Plunkett
Casper should be on this list... he appears here 9 times with Stabler.
Jules J LaMontagne , classic tight end. Great blocker with fantastic hands. Played OT at Notre Dame. True TE, not a wide receiver disguised as one.
Ken Stabler partied with Petaluma farm girls until the sun came up.....game time in five hours....true story
You can't help but to wonder if he was this talented and successful partying his whole career, what on earth would his career have been like if he was a health fanatic like Tom Brady and getting 8-10 hours sleep per day? 🤔
That's what makes him a legend
Dude was running wild in Santa Rosa too
@@darienms38But then he would be just like every other BORING player like Brady!
Stabler is the kind of guy who would ace a polygraph no matter the question. Straight line. Nothing got to this amazing, cool QB.
Stabler & Biletnikoff smokin' a cig & drinkin' Budweiser in the tunnel, before taking the field after halftime during a playoff game....priceless
Coolest quarterback in nfl history.
The best left-handed Quarterback ever!
Trey Hitchcock vick***
And Vick ruined his chance in Atlanta, and Young is good but Stabler is a little bit better
Young is the best. Mad respects to the Snake tho. It's a shame he never got to see himself into the HOF.
Yup definitely the best. Stabler had the intangibles of leadership that don't get talked about enough. Also called his own plays
Raider fan here, sorry but no unfortunately. Great quarterback and a true Raider, but Steve Young would be the greatest lefty quarterback. It would be Young and then Snake.
You know they gotta kid outta Hawaii that plays just like him now. What was his name? Oh yeah, think it's Tua.
Snake is the quintessential Raider.

Snake is #1 on the list with Raiders fans that are 50 years or older.
"how much sleep do you need to go play 3 hours?" lol what a legend
Happy Belated Birthday to Mr.Kenneth Michael Stabler.12-25-45.Alabama

They were always in the game with Stabler. His games always felt on the edge.

Because he was so cool under pressure
Snake is the number one Raider of all time! I would have thought that this fact was indisputable.
As right handed guy myself it feels weird seeing a guy throwing lefty. Can't imagine how left handed ppl must feel lol. The snake was the best.
Ken Stabler is the G.O.A.T
Jim Otto and ray guy should be on this list
My dad spoke highly of Snake. Now I know why.
